Chapter 205: Zachary’s Gossip News! (1)
Kevin glanced at Ethan before nudging his shoulder.
"You came because of the gossip too?"
"Yeah." Ethan chuckled, rubbed the back of his neck, and stared at Scott before continuing, "How am I supposed to focus on work after hearing what you said yesterday? I couldn’t stop thinking about the gossip about Zachary!"
Kevin immediately pointed at Ethan. "Exactly! Finally, someone understands me."
"I even considered calling Zach directly," Ethan admitted. "Then I remembered Scott specifically told us to wait."
Kevin looked at Scott with exaggerated disappointment. "And look where waiting got us."
Scott pinched the bridge of his nose. "Gentlemen! Can you both stop being so dramatic?"
Kevin ignored him completely. "I’ve had meetings since eight this morning," he complained. "Do you know how difficult it is to negotiate contracts while wondering what earth-shattering secret your best friend is hiding?"
Ethan couldn’t help but laugh. "And I spent half my drive here making wild guesses."
"What guesses?" Kevin asked curiously.
"I thought Zach secretly bought another company."
Kevin shook his head. "No. I guess it’s bigger than that."
"I also considered that he might be returning to his first love, Jess!" Ethan said playfully.
Kevin’s expression slowly turned stiff. "Don’t conclude that or you might be in trouble, man!"
Ethan nodded in agreement, then he asked, "What about you?"
"I thought he was secretly engaged. Not with Jess, of course! Or he has another baby." Kevin nodded proudly, pleased with his guess.
Scott couldn’t hold back his laughter anymore. "You two really have too much imagination."
Kevin pointed directly at him. "And whose fault is that?"
Scott opened his mouth to answer before realizing he had no defense. He had started this entire mess with one careless comment, and now both of his friends had practically abandoned work just to satisfy their curiosity. For successful CEOs, they certainly didn’t act like responsible adults.
When he looked at them again, Kevin and Ethan were staring at him with identical expressions. Their eyes were filled with expectation, making them look more like impatient children than influential businessmen.
Scott sighed dramatically. "Fine! But I’m only saying this once."
Both men straightened immediately. Neither of them interrupted.
"And after I tell you," Scott continued firmly, "you’re not asking any questions. No endless discussion. No interrogation. You hear the secret, then you both leave because I actually have work to do."
As if to emphasize his point, he glanced at the expensive watch around his wrist before looking back at them.
Kevin clicked his tongue. "You’ve already wasted five precious minutes giving speeches instead of telling us."
"For once," Ethan said with a grin, "I completely agree with him."
Scott took a slow breath, preparing himself to finally reveal the truth about Zachary and Sienna.
"Alright," he began. "The truth is that Zach has been—"
Another knock interrupted him.
Scott froze. A muscle twitched in his jaw before he slowly turned toward the door with an expression that promised absolutely no mercy.
"Seriously?" he muttered under his breath. "Whoever is standing outside that door right now is about to receive the punishment of a lifetime."
Unlike Scott, Kevin and Ethan exchanged amused looks. Their curiosity only grew stronger as they wondered who else could possibly show up at the worst possible moment.
Scott took a deep breath before raising his voice. "Come in!"
The door swung open, and Zachary stepped inside, catching Scott and the others completely off guard. For a brief moment, the room fell silent as all three men stared at him, too surprised to say anything.
Stopping just inside the doorway, Zachary looked from Kevin to Ethan with a puzzled expression before asking, "Why are you all here?"
Instead of answering his question, Kevin and Ethan spoke at the same time.
"Zach, why are you here?"
Scott remained rooted to the spot for a second, forcing himself to swallow the frustration that had been building from one interruption after another.
Taking a slow breath, Scott stood and walked toward Zachary. "I thought your appointment was at ten," he glanced at his watch before looking back at him. "Why are you here an hour early?"
As he spoke, his gaze shifted past Zachary and settled on Sienna, who stood quietly behind him. His expression immediately softened into a warm smile. "Good morning, Sister-in-law."
The words reached Kevin and Ethan at the same time. Still sitting on the sofa, they exchanged confused looks before slowly turning back toward the doorway.
"’Sister-in-law’?" Ethan repeated under his breath, making sure only Kevin could hear him. "Did Scott just call her sister-in-law? Is she... Zach’s wife?"
Kevin blinked several times, unable to process what he had just heard. "That’s exactly what I heard."
Neither of them could take their eyes off the woman standing beside Zachary. Countless questions rushed through their minds, but before either of them could ask one, Zachary looked back at Scott with a puzzled frown.
"Seriously," Zachary said, "why did you call them here?"
Scott pretended not to hear him. Instead, he smiled warmly at Sienna. "Sister-in-law, please come in. Let me introduce you to our other two best friends."
Sienna didn’t move immediately. Instead, she lifted her eyes to Zachary, silently asking for his opinion.
Noticing the hesitation in her expression, Zachary smiled reassuringly. Although he had originally planned to introduce Sienna to Kevin and Ethan over dinner the following weekend, things clearly hadn’t gone as planned. Since they had unexpectedly gathered in Scott’s office, there was no reason to keep the truth hidden.
"Hmm," he said gently as he reached for her hand. "Let’s go inside."
Sienna placed her hand in his without hesitation, and they walked farther into the office together.
As they approached the sitting area, Zachary glanced at Kevin and Ethan. Both men were staring at them with identical expressions of disbelief, making him wonder just how many conclusions they had already drawn on their own.
When they reached the sofa, Zachary stopped beside Sienna and smiled faintly.
"Guys, I’d like you to meet my wife, Sienna." He looked at her briefly before turning back to his friends. "Sienna, this is Kevin Richardson, and this is Ethan Hall."
