The Billionaire's Heir I Never Knew Was Mine

Chapter 203: You’re Worried About The Media?

Trevor looked back at Zachary before asking carefully, trying not to sound nosy, "Sir, you still have her number saved?"

Zachary didn’t answer. His gaze remained fixed on the vibrating phone, his expression calm and his emotion unreadable.

Then he cast a brief glance toward Trevor, who immediately knew his boss was signaling for him to leave the room.

Trevor immediately nodded to excuse himself. Without saying a word, he quickly gathered the documents from the desk. He rushed out, closing the door behind him as quietly as possible.

Silence filled the room once again.

The phone continued ringing, but Zachary made no move to answer it. He simply sat there, watching the screen until the call finally ended and the office became quiet again.

Leaning back in his chair, he let out a slow breath, his eyes still fixed on the darkened screen.

A few moments later, Zachary finally rose from his chair. He picked up his cell phone and headed toward the office door, intending to leave for home. However, after only a few steps, his phone rang again.

"What do you want this time?" He muttered under his breath, obviously irked, assuming the caller was the same as before. With a trace of irritation, he pulled the phone from his pocket and was about to reject the call. Just before his thumb touched the screen, though, he noticed the caller’s name.

My Pretty Wife.

The irritation on his face disappeared instantly, replaced by a beaming, warm smile.

"Hello, my pretty wife," he greeted affectionately as he walked toward his private elevator. "Did you miss me already?"

On the other end, Sienna let out a soft laugh. "Honey, did I interrupt you?"

The simple way she called him Honey immediately brightened his mood.

"Not at all," Zachary replied as the elevator doors opened. He stepped inside and pressed the button for the ground floor. "For my wife, I always have time. Besides, I’m already on my way home."

"I thought you were still busy."

"I am. But then my wife called, so now I’m less busy."

"You make it sound like your job is so easy."

"It is."

For a brief moment, neither of them spoke.

But then Zachary heard Sienna take a slow, heavy breath. The smile on his face faded. He knew her well enough to recognize that sigh—something was wrong.

"What’s wrong?" he asked gently, his tone immediately turning serious. "Did something happen?"

There was another short silence before Sienna finally spoke. "Honey..."

"Yes?"

"I just wanted to ask you something."

"Go ahead."

"...Are you punishing my father?"

The unexpected question made Zachary frown. He answered without hesitation. "No." His voice remained calm and steady. "You know I never planned to deal with him, don’t you?"

"Hmm... I know."

"My wife," he said softly, "I promised you before. As long as your father doesn’t hurt you or threaten you directly, I won’t do anything to him."

He waited for her response, but she remained unusually quiet.

Even without seeing her, Zachary could almost picture her standing somewhere with her brows knitted together, thinking too much. He had seen that expression enough times to recognize it.

"Did you read the news about the Black Scorpion Gang?" he asked. "Did it make you anxious?"

"No."

This time, her answer came more quickly.

"I’m not anxious about the news. Actually..." She paused before continuing more honestly. "It made me feel relieved. I’m happy they were finally exposed."

Hearing the steadiness returning to her voice eased some of Zachary’s concern.

At that moment, the elevator reached the ground floor.

He stepped out and headed toward the waiting car parked in front of the building. Logan immediately got out to open the rear door for him.

"But if you’re relieved," Zachary asked while getting into the car, "why do you still sound so worried?"

He gestured for Logan to start driving.

More than anything else, he wanted to get home as quickly as possible.

"My aunt called me a little while ago," Sienna explained.

She slowly told him everything Maya had shared with her.

She explained that her father had disappeared, that no one had seen him since yesterday, and that his phone had been unreachable ever since. She also told Zachary how her uncle and aunt were afraid he might have been arrested together with the members of the Black Scorpion Gang.

After a brief pause, she admitted the part that had truly been bothering her.

"I’m afraid people will find out that he’s my father," she said quietly. "If that happens, they’ll connect me to him... and eventually to you."

Zachary listened without interrupting.

"If the media starts digging into my background," she continued, "I’m worried they’ll drag your name into this too. I don’t want your reputation to suffer because of my family."

She lowered her voice even more.

"I just don’t want anyone to hurt you because of me."

Those sincere words brought a gentle smile to Zachary’s face.

He leaned back comfortably against the seat.

"So..." he said softly, "you’re worried about the media?"

"Hmm."

"I think that’s what worries me the most right now."

She sighed again, although it sounded lighter than before.

"They don’t know my identity yet, but sooner or later someone will find out. And with the Black Scorpion case all over the news..."

She didn’t finish her sentence. She didn’t need to because Zachary already understood.

"My dear," he said reassuringly, "don’t waste your time and energy worrying about that."

His calm voice gradually soothed her racing thoughts. "Hmm, I know..." she whispered.

"As for your father," he continued, "I’ll have someone discreetly find out where he is."

"Zach..." Her tone immediately became hurried. "You really don’t have to do that. It’s not his first time like this."

Zachary blinked in surprise. He had honestly expected her to ask him to help find her father. Instead, she was refusing.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes," Sienna answered firmly. "Just make sure my father doesn’t cause trouble for you."

Zachary couldn’t help smiling to himself.

Even now, when her own father was missing, she was still thinking about protecting him first.

His wife really was too kind.

"There’s one more thing," Sienna added after a moment.
