"What do you mean!" I frowned.

"I’m reaching half of the mana I have remaining, if I buff another person then it won’t end well."

The ice wall then shattered, and multiple demons came flooding in.

Taking off the eye patch from her face, Alleus moved around like a blur, killing demon after demon.

Looking up, multiple soldiers were landing on the ground and started battling almost immediately.

Yes!

"Alleus, just hold on for a few more minutes! The soldiers are almost–!"

I froze, as my face became pale.

"Blurgh.." A demon had pierced Alleus through the stomach.

The moment gave a chance to the other demons to attack her, mutilating her.

"Ah.. ah.. AAAAAAAAAAH!" I forced my body to stand.

"Scales, strengthen me!" All of the dragon scales that I sent out to link to everyone came back to me.

My body felt lighter and ever more powerful.

Gritting my teeth, I glared with killing intent.

Leaping forward, I swung my blade like a maniac. Completely abandoning everything that I’ve learned.

"Excaliburn!" I thrust my blade forward, a twirling blaze completely annihilating the group of demons that stood in front of me.

"You fucking bastards, how dare you kill her! How dare you!" Multiple veins bulged on my face, "The author will die."

"FORCE ARMOR!"

’HAHA, YES FEED ME YOUR RAGE! FEED ME YOUR ANGER AND BECOME UNBOUND BY THE LIMITATIONS OF YOUR FLESH!’ The force armor shouted, my soul felt sharper.

The force armor became fiercer, as it turned into a full body armor.

Roaring, I was numb to pain.

Smashing its way through the army of demons, a large demon loomed over me.

With a roar, I jumped up and slashed the large demon in half.

Multiple demons had climbed on top of me, but I severed all of them with a single circular slash.

A giant demon who casted a shadow over the entire army of demons and falling soldiers, stomped down.

Squatting, I jumped up with all of my strength.

Stabbing the foot of the demon, I shouted:

"Excaliburn!"

With a large blaze, the demon’s foot had burnt into ashes.

Falling to the ground, I slammed my blade straight into the ground.

The force of my slam had caused the earth to erupt, launching multiple demons to chaos.

With enraged breathing, I wielded the fire hero’s sword on my right arm and started crushing the bones of the demons with my left.

Soon, I reached the limit of the dragon scales armor’s strengthening.

"...It’s not... enough..." I said with a raspy voice, my chest heavy.

The memories of Alleus had flashed through my mind.

From when I first met her at the academy, to when we had fought together for the first time.

My heart ached, as it realised that it would never see her smile ever again.

With teary eyes, I snapped.

Even without the strengthening, it won’t matter.

All these demons will die before my hands!

"Scales. Extend the length of my blade."

The force armor’s right arm had retracted, as the dragon scales stacked on top of the sword, before covering my arm once more.

"DIEEE!"

Swinging the blade wildly with both hands on the hilt, no demon could enter my vicinity.

The force armor grew fiercer and sharper, as my rage continued to grow like an undying flame.

Suddenly, multiple blasts of dark magic flew right at me.

Gritting my teeth, I swung at the dark spell.

But as I did, darkness enveloped my blade before making its way to my body.

’Do not worry boy, I will protect you. Continue your battle..!’ The force armor whispered.

If I want to get this spell off of myself, then I need to target mage.

My pupils jumped around, trying to find the demon amongst the bloodshed.

Pulling my arm back, I spun the blade around before stomping forward and thrusting the tip of the blade towards the demon in front of me.

"Sky severing thrust!"

The inertia from the attack, completely destroyed all of the foes in front of me, reaching a distance that excaliburn couldn’t reach.

A sharp pain stormed through my arm.

"Aaargh!"

It seems that my body has yet to manage this technique, but it doesn’t matter.

Closing my eyes, I commanded my mana like a conductor and an intense swirl of gale wrapped around the blade of the fire hero sword.

Swinging the blade sideways, multiple demons had been annihilated and the dark spell had dispersed.

Marching towards me, multiple towering demons had crushed the soldiers that had been fighting off in the distance.

Incus was still in the air, engaging in aerial combat.

Pointing at me, the tall demon that led the charge growled.

More opponents.

The demons then jumped up and slammed down their fists in unison at me.

Scowling, I blocked their attack.

"Your strength is no match for my unrivaled rage!" I roared, taking a blow and counterattacking with the swipe of my blade.

Raising their fists, the towering demons started throwing a barrage of punches, treating me as if I was a punching bag.

However in the next second, all of them had been cut up into crude looking cubes.

"Impact line."

Shifting my attention at the last remaining demon, I severed through its blocking arms and decapitated it.

But when I finished the attack, a mage had shot a spinning drill shaped earth spell at my eye.

"Augh!" I winced, wailing around.

"R-Ring!" A voice called for me.

Turning around, Vertere was holding Alleus in his arms.

Alleus’ eyes had a semblance of life remaining in them, Acro was casting a healing magic over her that was keeping her barely alive.

Running towards them, I bent down to my knees.

The helmet retracted, revealing my face.

Weakly lifting up her hand, Alleus pulled me in closer to her face.

"Ah... your hair. It’s turned completely white."

With tears pouring down my eyes, I held her hand.

"I’m so sorry..! It should have been me who stood up to fight the demons and not you–"

"...Don’t cry, save those tears for when you achieve victory."
