The Novel's Draft

Chapter 108 - 166 (2)

Pushing through the crowd of soldiers, I trembled as I tried everything that I could to keep my sanity.

Incus was inching further and further at an incredible rate.

If things keep up like this then we’ll be left for dead.

"Vertere, get us up high in the sky!" I shouted with urgency.

"Rising Ice pillar!" Vertere conjured immediatly.

We got launched up into the air, headed towards the direction of Incus along with a few unlucky souls who were caught in the crossfire.

Extending my arm, I steadied my hand.

"Scales, latch onto Incus!" The dragon scales armor shot out, grabbing Incus by the ankle.

Ordering for the scales to hold us all together, I held on for dear life because Incus was battling multiple bone demons.

Suddenly there were multiples large explosions of dust that shot up in the sky.

Slicing through the dust were the masters.

"Everyone, make sure to hold tight! Even if the dragon scales hold you, it doesn’t guarantee that you won’t drop to the ground!" I pulled up Alleus and Acro, as their grip was loose.

"T-Thanks." The both of them said with gratitude.

Incus paused and conversed with master Klarm.

After their they were finished talking with each other, Incus started accelerating towards the army.

"You guys, heard her! Let’s rush!" Incus commanded.

With that the army marched on.

***

We’ve been marching for a day now.

And before we entered, I looked up at the novel’s draft and the last thing it wrote was that we’d be going at this for a few weeks.

Stopping to take a quick break, the other army had arrived with an envoy of supplies.

"Come and line up for your rations!" Shouted a servant.

Not only that but multiple mages had conjured an illuminating light of ball that got rid of the dark.

Seeing that Incus was lining up, I called over the rest of my party.

"Come on, let’s try getting an early spot in line."" I stood up, patting the dirt off of my pants.

***

Getting my plate, it contained mashed potato, a few vegetables and a mush of cooked meat.

Grabbing a wooden spoon, followed Incus and took a seat next to her.

Eating our rations, it was oddly tasty yet it tasted off.

Right before I got to finish the last bite of my food, Incus turned her head towards me.

"So, you’ve decided to join our invasion at the demon king’s domain." Incus stood up, taking my spoon and finishing the final bite for me before taking my wooden plate.

"Hey, that was mine!" I retorted, my face felt hotter than usual.

With a disinterested smirk, Incus walked back to the rations table to return the utensils.

"Hey hey, what the hell was that man?" Joka snorted, "I thought that we weren’t supposed to interact with Incus?"

"Ehhhh, I might have lied about that. We can talk interact with Incus as long as the novel is writing in an arbitrary way." I chuckled weakly, scratching the side of my cheek.

With a loud sigh, Joka grimaced.

"Well its over now, so what do we do know? Are we going to be in trouble and have to fight her?" Joka asked in frustration.

"No, this isn’t the first time that this had happened. We won’t be in danger unless we try battling her with the intend of murder—"

"I see, so if you fight me... you’ll be fine as long as you don’t try killing me? Should it not be the other way around?" Incus suddenly appeared in front of us, her laugh was eerie.

Standing up, I held the handle of my blade.

"I didn’t really question it before but..." My fire hero’s blade was suddenly in Incus’ hand, "Just how did you exactly get this hero sword?"

Incus glared coldly at me.

Shit, do I tell her the truth? But I don’t know what will happen if I revealed that we’re inside a novel.

Will those black arms come and kill me?

Looking at everyone else, I gestured with my eyes for them to stay still and be quite.

"It’s a replica of the weapon, made by a mage..." This is the best lie that I could come up with, anything else would be too suspicious.

"Is that so..." Incus summoned the fire hero’s sword of her own.

Raising the sword that she summoned, she slashed at my blade.

Damn it.

If she breaks it then I won’t have a weapon, and if it doesn’t break she’ll suspect that something’s up.

With every slash, Incus’ face turned from disinterested to an intrigued look in her eyes.

Throwing me back my blade, she made the one that she summoned disapear.

"That’s quite the ’replica’ that you have there, make sure that you don’t lose it." Incus laughed, but I didn’t feel anything but worry.

***

It’s been three days since we’ve started our journey.

Incus had decided to train me.

Scrapping a downwards slash to the side, I countered with a horizontal slash.

However, her blade was already at my neck.

"Hah, how did you do that. I was sure that there was no gaps in my defense."

"Made sure that there was no gaps in your defense? Are you sure your eyes are working properly?"

Multiple strands of my hair started falling down.

What the hell, her speed is amazing. She had managed to cut me down within such a short span of time, this demon raid is definitely going to be a success.

But it’s a shame that the tunnel is covering the white window screen in the sky.

"That’s all for today, focus on what you could do to improve." Incus waved a hand, walking laying down on the ground.

Collapsing to the ground, a sense of relief surged throughout my body.

Phew, any longer then I would have been toast.

"Come on, don’t tell me that you’re already tired. It’s my turn now to fight you." Joka rubbed his nose.

Standing back up, I pointed my blade.

"Hope that you don’t regret it."
