Chapter 595 - 590: A Show of Force
"Brat, who are you calling a dog?" Hearing Shen Haoran’s words, the faces of the Martial Artists present turned cold as they questioned him sternly. Powerful auras erupted from them, pressing down on Shen Haoran.
The combined auras of several hundred Martial Artists were so immense that even the grand hall of the Medicine Hall seemed unable to bear the strain, beginning to tremble slightly. Yet, this formidable pressure posed no threat to Shen Haoran whatsoever. He gave the Martial Artists a dismissive glance and said contemptuously, "Whoever’s barking the loudest is who I’m talking about!"
"Brat, it seems you have no respect for our Medicine Hall!" Seeing Shen Haoran’s disdainful expression, the faces of the surrounding Martial Artists darkened.
"Medicine Hall?" Shen Haoran scoffed. "When I choose to give you face, you’re the Medicine Hall. But if I don’t, your Medicine Hall is nothing in my eyes!" The Medicine Hall only held such power and influence within the Demon Race because their Martial Artists needed it to refine Elixirs and manage Spirit Medicine. For Shen Haoran, refining Elixirs was a trivial matter; he had no need to curry favor with them. Besides, his own Alchemy skills would be considered top-tier even among the members of the Medicine Hall. If they were to beg him to perform Alchemy for them, he wouldn’t necessarily agree.
Moreover, even among the Human Race, Shen Haoran had always been indifferent toward the Pill Hall. The fact that he was even willing to "request an audience" at the Medicine Hall was already a rare courtesy. And yet, they had to push their luck. ’Do they really think I’m a pushover?’
"Hmph, such arrogance!" Just as Shen Haoran finished speaking, a cold shout echoed from the stairway of the Medicine Hall’s main hall. An elderly man then descended slowly, his eyes fixed coldly on Shen Haoran.
"Vice Hall Master, what brings you here?" Seeing the elderly man, the surrounding Martial Artists quickly went up to greet him. The Medicine Hall in Burning Flame City was more than double the size of the one in White Fox City, and its daily affairs were far more numerous. As such, it had both a Hall Master and a Vice Hall Master. The man before them was precisely the Vice Hall Master of the Burning Flame City Medicine Hall.
"Hmph. If someone is going to show such contempt for our Demon Race Medicine Hall, I naturally have to come see for myself who could be so arrogant!" The Vice Hall Master stared at Shen Haoran, his eyes narrowed as a cold light glinted within them.
"Vice Hall Master, this brat is human! He had the audacity to come into our Medicine Hall, claim he’s a Sixth Grade Alchemist who can refine the Spirit Emperor Pill, and use that as an excuse to demand an audience with Hall Master Feng. We told him to leave, but he insulted our Medicine Hall instead. We can’t let him get away with this! Otherwise, everyone will think our Medicine Hall is a pushover!" a Martial Artist said, gnashing his teeth as he glared at Shen Haoran.
"That’s right! Seize him and hang him from the gates of the Medicine Hall! Let everyone know the price for offending us!" the other Martial Artists chimed in, their voices filled with outrage.
"What’s all this shouting about? Do you not know where you are?" Just then, another, more impatient voice drifted down from the stairs. A young man came running down. Shen Haoran paused for a moment when he saw him.
’It’s him?’ A cold smile touched the corners of Shen Haoran’s lips.
As Shen Haoran noticed the youth, the youth also saw Shen Haoran. His face instantly turned grim. "Well, well. I didn’t expect we’d meet again!" the young man sneered.
That’s right. The young man was the very same dandy Shen Haoran had thrashed at the city gates—Young Master Hu of the Day Tiger Clan!
"Xiaohu, you know him?" Seeing the young master’s reaction to Shen Haoran, the Vice Hall Master asked with some curiosity.
"Teacher, he’s the one who injured me outside the city gates!" the young man known as Young Master Hu said, staring at Shen Haoran with a venomous expression.
"Oh, so this is the one?" The Vice Hall Master turned to Shen Haoran, a trace of killing intent now visible on his face. Shen Haoran watched them with amusement. ’I never expected them to be teacher and student!’
"Hmph. Brat, you not only insulted the reputation of our Medicine Hall, but you also injured one of our disciples. You won’t be leaving here alive today!" the Vice Hall Master declared, stepping forward and fixing Shen Haoran with a cold stare. The moment he finished speaking, all the Medicine Hall’s Martial Artists stepped forward as well, their gazes cold.
"Brat, I told you. My status is beyond the reach of someone like you. In Burning Flame City, killing you would be as easy as crushing an ant!" the young master sneered, seeing Shen Haoran surrounded on all sides.
"Oh, is that so?" Shen Haoran sneered, completely ignoring the surrounding Martial Artists and the Vice Hall Master. He was, however, a little disappointed. ’I thought all the Demon Race’s Medicine Halls would be as humble and courteous as the one in White Fox City. It seems I was too naive.’
"Hall Master Feng! I, Shen Haoran, have come at the behest of Hall Master Hong from White Fox City to request an audience! Please show yourself!" Shen Haoran gazed at the crowd before him, a slight smirk playing on his lips. Taking a deep breath, he bellowed. A terrifying soundwave instantly erupted. Empowered by his Spiritual Thought, which was at the Level of a Sixth Grade Alchemist, the entire hall began to tremble violently. Cracks spiderwebbed across the walls and floor in an instant.
"AGH...!" The terrifying sonic boom instantly drained the color from the faces of the Martial Artists in the hall. Under the immense pressure of Shen Haoran’s Spiritual Thought, every single one of them was forced to a knee, their faces deathly pale. Trickles of blood seeped from their ears, a miserable sight.
Meanwhile, deep within the Medicine Hall, in a Pill Room, an elderly man was staring intently at several clumps of the Essence of Spiritual Medicine inside his Pill Furnace, preparing to fuse them. But just then, a powerful soundwave tore through the room, instantly obliterating the essence within the furnace.
Seeing the Essence of Spiritual Medicine disintegrate into powder, the old man’s expression changed dramatically. He stared toward the front of the Medicine Hall in shock, muttering, "Such immense Spiritual Thought... Who could have possibly angered such a powerful Pill Master?!"
’Please don’t let it be someone from my Medicine Hall!’ the old man prayed internally. In a flash, he was gone, streaking toward the front hall. From that soundwave alone, he could tell that the person’s Spiritual Thought was far stronger than his own. That meant their skill in Alchemy was also superior. An Alchemist of that caliber was someone they absolutely could not afford to offend!
Back in the front hall of the Medicine Hall, the terrifying soundwave slowly faded. The only ones left standing were Shen Haoran and Grandmaster Xiaorui, who stood beside him. Everyone else was kneeling on the ground, panting heavily. The immense pressure had left them with a lingering terror—it was a pressure that crushed their very minds and souls, giving them no chance to even think of resisting.
The Vice Hall Master and the young master stared at Shen Haoran in absolute terror. ’H-How is this possible? How can he possess such powerful Spiritual Thought?!’ they roared internally.
’Could it be... he really is a Sixth Grade Alchemist?’
