Chapter 591 586: Burning Flame City
WHOOSH... High in the sky, Shen Haoran sat cross-legged on the Griffin's back, carefully studying a map of the Demon Race.
The Eastern Domain Demon Race was composed of countless clans, but the Nine Great Families were revered above all. These nine families possessed the bloodlines of Ancient Divine Beasts or Fierce Beasts, and this Bloodline Power allowed them to reign over the other clans. The entire Demon Race was under their control.
Among the Nine Great Families, the Four Great Divine Beast Families were considered the Upper Four. The Four Great Divine Beasts—the Cyan Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise—had been the supreme rulers of the Demon Race during the Ancient Era, so the families that inherited their Bloodline Power were naturally anything but weak.
As the strongest, the Four Great Divine Beast Families naturally occupied Central City, the region with the most abundant Spiritual Power and richest resources. These Four Great Divine Beast Families were the Blood Phoenix Race, inheritors of the Vermilion Bird Bloodline; the Profound Turtle Race, inheritors of the Black Tortoise bloodline; the Heavenly Tiger Race, inheritors of the White Tiger bloodline; and the Flood Dragon Race, inheritors of the Cyan Dragon bloodline! Under the watch of these four families, the Demon Race Central City grew ever more prosperous.
Aside from the Upper Four, there were the Middle Two: the Dragon Elephant Race and the Dragon Bear Race, both of which possessed Ancient Dragon bloodlines. Because the Bloodline Power within these two races was not as potent as that of the Four Great Divine Beast Families, their strength was only considered mid-tier. Sharing a common Ancient Dragon bloodline, they jointly governed one region: the Eastern Domain of the Demon Race.
The remaining clans were the Lower Three: the Frenzied Lion Race, the Heaven-Swallowing Python Race, and the Shadow Demon Wolf Race, which Shen Haoran had encountered before. These three families guarded the western, southern, and northern territories, respectively!
Beyond them were countless other clans of all sizes, enough to make Shen Haoran's head spin.
After a good while, Shen Haoran finally finished reading the Scroll. He now had a rough understanding of the Demon Race. The distribution of power wasn't much different from that of the Human Race: the strong guarded their own territories while the weak depended on them for survival. However, within the Demon Race, the clan divisions were extremely strict. They absolutely forbade intermarriage between different clans and refused to allow others to assimilate into their own. Perhaps this was why the structure of the Demon Race had remained unchanged for a thousand years.
However, Shen Haoran also discovered an anomaly among them: the Medicine Hall. Within the Medicine Hall, there were no clan distinctions whatsoever. Regardless of your clan or region, as long as you were an Alchemist, you were qualified to join. Furthermore, the Medicine Hall's influence spread across the entire Demon Race, with a presence in every territory. Its power far surpassed that of the Nine Great Families.
But the Medicine Hall was worldly and aloof, never interfering in the disputes between clans. They concerned themselves only with Alchemy. The Nine Great Families, in turn, treated the Medicine Hall with a delicate ambiguity. After all, the Medicine Hall controlled the entire supply of Spirit Medicines and Elixirs for the Demon Race, and no one wanted to get on their bad side.
"I wonder who founded this Medicine Hall, to make the Nine Great Families so wary," Shen Haoran muttered, clicking his tongue.
Afterward, Shen Haoran put the Scroll away and gazed ahead, his eyes burning with intensity. 'Looks like the Demon Race is even more interesting than I imagined.' He closed his eyes and began his Cultivation. Faced with a land teeming with experts, Shen Haoran knew he had to maintain his peak condition at all times.
The Griffin Beast flew tirelessly through the sky. The distance between White Fox City and Burning Flame City was considerable. Even at the Griffin Beast's speed, it took a full ten days of flight before Burning Flame City finally appeared in Shen Haoran's line of sight.
"Is that Burning Flame City?" Shen Haoran wondered in amazement, gazing at the crimson city that had entered his view. He could feel a scorching aura emanating from its surroundings. The entire city seemed to be carved from a single, massive, heat-radiating rock. The Fire Attribute presence was incredibly intense.
As he drew closer, Shen Haoran discovered that Burning Flame City's moat was actually a river of lava. Moreover, the entire city was built almost directly beneath an active volcano, suspended above the magma. It was an incredibly spectacular sight.
"This place is truly a paradise for Fire Attribute Martial Artists!" Shen Haoran murmured to himself as he leaped off the Griffin, surveying the scene. The surrounding Fire Attribute Spiritual Power was exceptionally dense. The lava beneath the city bubbled nonstop, constantly releasing the Fire Attribute Spiritual Power from the volcano below.
Shen Haoran headed for the city gate of Burning Flame City. He was eager to see for himself what a city built on a river of lava was really like.
"What a major city!" Shen Haoran couldn't help but exclaim as he stood before the gates of Burning Flame City, which were far more impressive than those of White Fox City.
"Hm?" Just then, Shen Haoran noticed a crowd of Martial Artists gathered before the city gate. It looked like something was going on.
"Get out of my way! Don't, and I'll kill you!" As Shen Haoran drew closer, he heard an impatient, angry shout.
"No! You knocked over my grandfather. You have to apologize!" As soon as the shout faded, a young girl's tender voice rang out, laced with stubbornness.
Hearing the exchange, Shen Haoran shook his head. Uninterested, he continued toward the city. All he wanted was to find the Medicine Hall and get information about the Heaven and Earth Spirits.
"Apologize? You're just a stinking human bitch! What right do you have to cause a scene on Demon Race soil? Do you know who I am? Killing you would be as easy as crushing an ant. You'd better get the hell out of my sight before I decide to get serious, or else..." As his voice fell, a formidable aura erupted from within the crowd, forcing everyone present to take two steps back.
"A Tier Four Spirit Aspect! To reach the Tier Four Spirit Aspect Stage at his age... he's a true genius!"
"It's over. That little human girl is a dead woman. How could she dare to provoke a genius like him?"
Hearing the comments from behind him, Shen Haoran stopped in his tracks. He turned and walked back, peering into the center of the crowd. There, a young master in lavish robes was glaring impatiently at a little girl. Shen Haoran's gaze shifted to her. Although her clothes were ragged and her face was covered in grime, none of it could conceal her breathtaking features. He could already imagine that when this girl grew up, she would be the kind of beauty that could topple nations.
The little girl was being crushed by the young master's oppressive aura, so much so that she could barely lift her head. Yet, there wasn't the slightest hint of retreat in her eyes. She stared deathly still at the young master and said, enunciating every word, "Apologize. Otherwise, don't even think about leaving."
"Hmph, you're courting death!" Seeing that the little girl still refused to back down, the young master's impatience twisted into rage. With a cold snort, he threw a punch at her. A powerful blast of wind, accompanied by a series of sonic booms, instantly closed in. The little girl's pupils contracted, but she had no way to dodge.
"It's over... that little girl is going to die..." The surrounding Martial Artists couldn't bear to watch the gruesome scene and shut their eyes.
"Sigh..." Shen Haoran let out a soft sigh and shook his head. In the next instant, his figure vanished from its spot...
