Chapter 366: A Variant?
There was a great advantage that came with the ridiculous boost in will, though he expended most of it to suppress the weapon spirit, he still had enough to perceive nature on a metaphysical level.
He could feel abstract forces like karma and a force he perceived to be fate, and now he could feel it stirring all over.
The resonance rippling through his soul was something he couldn’t resist for a brief moment, his eyes glazing over for a moment as the image of the captain before him overlapped with Kylie’s.
Seth frowned hard, his brows furrowing, as the influence amplified, a feeling beyond him starting to bud...
No... then this meant...
A dangerous shade crept into Seth’s expression, a force of aura bursting from his frame, stifling everyone present, everyone except for Zoan and her crew.
The eleven just stood gawking in confusion, feeling nothing but a slight gust washing past them...
Seth could feel it now, providence, one so abundant it sheltered the newcomer and her group...
Though this understanding came, Seth still felt a bubble of revulsion brewing in his heart... as the tentacles of her providence reached towards him, planning to bind them together, a feeling he had also felt from his first encounter with Kylie.
Back then he might not have been aware, but now he could tell that was what it was, but... this meant the fact he fell in love with Kylie wasn’t of his own will.
Control, Seth felt he had come face to face with his greatest bane, there was nothing Seth hated more than lack of control.
It was safe to say that everything that made Seth, Seth was molded by his hate. How does this affect his life?
Well, by having his obsession being infinite evolution, an endless bridge of challenges that just didn’t stop coming.
An obsession that went in defiance of the cosmic rule, Death: the end of all things...
Seth hated control so much his very obsession became a direct defiance towards the rule of nature!
And now the mere notion that he might have fallen for control at one point since he started this journey, his emotional state went out of control for a brief moment, causing an instant backlash from everything he had been suppressing.
From the weapon spirit, to the divine energy surge and the weight of will, it all crashed against his mind at once causing him to stagger backwards.
From the side everyone spectated in silence and horror, unable to attempt anything due to the unrestrained flood of Seth’s presence stifling the atmosphere, this suppression spiking for a brief moment as Seth lost control.
"What’s happening to him?" Lukas struggled to ask, by his side, Uriel, standing strong and unwavering on his steed, glanced back at them and was about to reply when suddenly a soldier screamed in reply from panic.
"IT HAS TO BE THEM, LOOK THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES UNAFFECTED!" the terrified soldier screamed at the top of his voice as his trembling finger rose pointing towards Captain Zoan and her crew who were just as confused and horrified as anyone.
The pressure didn’t affect them, but they could feel it to some extent, "No, it wasn’t us." Elder Lenny croaked in panic, his sorry attempt at a scream.
Eyes turned towards the seven angry gazes boring through their frames from beings that could end any of them with a single slap.
Uriel frowned at the sight, but finally refrained from speaking against what was happening, after all though he was fairly certain this had nothing to do with the newcomers, he couldn’t be hundred percent sure.
And it was okay to have the soldiers round up the newcomers, wait and decide what to do with them till Seth came to. But therein lay the problem that the average soldier couldn’t move under the weight of Seth’s presence and those who could found their abilities to be suppressed by 70%.
But that was enough to deal with a bunch of shackled realm evolvers easily. And so as though coming to a unanimous decision while Seth stood frozen, his eyes flickering absent of consciousness.
Zoan saw this and panicked, her crew concentrating behind her for protection, because what else could they do before a group of higher ranked entities.
"You’re making a big mistake!" Zoan barked, trying to intimidate the foes, but all she was met with was cold, dead glares, as if predators were swarming in on their prey.
’To think our first encounter with humans in months would be hostile.’ Captain Zoan hissed inwardly, a wave of self-blame coming upon her, after all, it was her naivety that dragged her into this mess.
That surge of emotions, self-blame, disappointment, fury, began to feel chaotic, the thin equilibrium she struggled to maintain shattering and dissolving into the brewing chaos.
Her emotions suddenly went unhinged, as anger, overwhelming fury, surged into her mind and began to drown her consciousness.
A shivering gust burst out, washing against everyone in sight as the frame of Captain Zoan began to levitate, the sight stunning the group silly.
Flying? Even most of their captains apart from Seth couldn’t fly and even Seth could only maintain a brief form of elevation.
Such a difficult task was being accomplished by a shackled realm entity right before them, this sight further solidified their conclusion, there was definitely something wrong with these guys for sure.
"No...No...n-" Captain Zoan muttered the word no hysterically under her breath, as she fought with all her might to rein in the rage, but it was too much, it had been suppressed for so long it had long become an overpowering wave.
Her eyes began to burn with a distinct spectral shade of green, as thick plasma current began to rip out of her skin, her veins went blinding white for a brief moment before erupting with a plasmatic wave.
Her entire frame began to dissolve into properties of non-matter, her frame condensing as a multidimensional space gate spectrum, her gene skill blazing to life as she became the first living portal the humans ever saw.
Everyone stared in silence feeling a noticeable change in the atmosphere, as Uriel’s pupils constricted, understanding instantly dawning upon him...
The crew behind Zoan quickly retreated towards the attackers side, allowing everyone present to understand something was wrong.
Why would these guys flee towards their perceived enemies? Because they simply concluded that they would have a better chance of surviving with them.
Meanwhile Uriel’s steed began to gallop forwards, moving towards the area where all retreated except Seth, his spear glowing into brilliance the moment it was equipped.
Uriel now understood why none of these newcomers’ feats ever made sense, it was simply because it was never meant to... and that was also because right before them stood a variant.
It had been long since his last encounter with one, but Uriel instantly recalled the presence the moment it hit him...
