Chapter 362: Inevitable Sacrifice
The zone wasn’t the only one who underwent a status change, its inhabitants weren’t exempt as their status shifted from being corrupted to abyss spawns.
Gaining a battle efficiency that was twice what they had before, the effect on the defilds and and above being even more ridiculous.
The darkness surged wild in the air, humans went all out battling for their lives.
The strong ones like Seth and the others focused on recuperating as they came to the same conclusion as Jack and the others without making contact.
And as of now they were not only trying to get the soldiers, but Seth was also trying to buy time so his genetic armour could recover to some degree.
All genetic battlesuits owned by the team apex were equipped with self repair functions.
So while the average division soldier who had their mech suit destroyed had no hope of piecing it back, Seth and his friends had their armor constantly fixing itself up in the safety of their inventory.
And the moment its recovery reaches a 30% benchmark at the very least, they would be able to activate the radio transmission function and be able to initiate contact.
Moving at the heart of the formation as the soldiers marched through the dense foliage, battling a rushing swarm of demon wolf abyssal spawns.
The soldiers faced the hoard of abomination valiantly, 1 soldier falling for every nine triumph.
For the first time since the world war began this was the first loss for the seven attack division.
And what made it worse that they did not suffer casualties to their main dangerous mission.
They had been forced into a situation where they either evolved fast enough or died.
And while the human race had a limitless potential, the individual talent still determined how much of limitless one could utilize.
And those who couldnt cross the rapidly acelerating benchmark, would fall.
There was no helping it, the group couldn’t afford to tolerate liabilities at this point in time.
Back on Seths end, his presence seemed to have settled, and the energy reflux seemed to have settled.
The only problem?
His energy reserves was filled with divine essence, no matter how he tried or activated force embodiment.
It refused to allow his essence to morph back to normal.
And though his reach to the inventory space was restored, that was all because of the will manifestation ring, he still refused to dismiss the wild divine weapon.
While the unique item was still activated he would have enough willpower to subdue the weapon spirit so for now Seth decided to continue using it.
And right now he was busy regulating his essence pathways, blending his mind into the force seamlessly to allow for a smoother essence control.
Fortunately his silver human body was strong enough to handle the sea of divine energy.
Though he could still visibly track a dip in his stamina stats, he still reckoned that he could last for another at the very least 13-20 minutes.
The main reason why Seth was convinced about keeping the divine weapon equipped despite the cost.
Was it because of the system message...
[Corruption Zone Guardian has eaten the corrupted seed...]
One could only imagine how much stronger a boss among charmed beasts could be and now the same creature in question seemed to have feasted on the corruption seed.
Seth’s eyelids twitched at the thought of how ridiculous the prowess of that creature had to be at this stage.
If he wanted to stand a chance before such an abomination, he not only would need help but he would also have to wield the divine essence which was the nemesis of corruption.
Despite the crippling downsides he would have to endure it all for this chance.
His veins surged with a stinging burn as the divine force flowed through like molten lava, his veins glowing gold from beneath his skin.
Seth tried to isolate himself from it all, not only seeking to deepen his control over divine energy but also numb himself to the pain to make it less distracting.
Seth frowned, as he sensed another incoming wave, a herd of single horned beasts.
But what caught Seth’s attention particularly was the fact that he couldn’t sense a single defileds in their midst.
Seth had already formed an expectation of this zone mentally and for it to not be met meant something was wrong.
From the early encounter with a defiled despite not being anywhere close to the region holding the corrupted seed, showed that this zone would surely be plagued with an abundance of defiled.
And worse was that they also encountered a charmed beast, before getting anywhere near the zone.
And now all of a sudden they were getting close to the zone as they advanced, yet no defiled insight...
The situation smelled fishy to Seth.
But he remained silent, focusing on stabilizing himself, all while vital overflow rushed through his system fixing internal damages as soon as they bloom.
Seth fixed a part of his attention upon the soldiers, watching their advancement in real time as they devoured stat points like crazy.
Their bronze human status helped elevate the ceiling of essence saturation in their bodies, allowing them to receive more stats before their bodies entered a temporary state of energy saturation.
Where your cells had to assimilate the stat flow before another could be allowed...
A phenomenon Seth had yet to experience, but affected evolvers none the less.
The human forces grew stronger and smaller, their numbers dwindling from being a few numbers shy of 170.
And now they were currently at 144 elite soldiers, forged through blood and grit.
A force finally worthy of posing some challenge to a defiled.
Though the humans still weren’t on the level of being able to single handedly matched defileds, but if it was a one on two match the humans will have a 50/50 chance of winning and a 90% chance of escaping alive.
Seth felt a glance focusing on him from the side and he met Uriel gaze and smiled with a nod.
It might have come at a cost but finally these guys could hold their weight when time came.
He didn’t care why the defileds seemed to have vanished, but what he did know was that it was a beneficial advantage that helped them big time.
Seth stared at the sky over the distance, the grey horizon flickering with light as lightning bolts rode the clouds.
And Seth could sense a deep concentration of vile energy, a repulsive torrent building underneath a colossal mountain range sitting further ahead.
Seth could feel the ominous presence brewing and he knew instinctively that that’s where the true trial would begin.
He rose to his feet, his hair fluttering wildly due to the winds, in his hands a rattling divine bow, constantly waging a war against his mind.
And a ring bloating his will, to a ridiculous level weighing down his mind with an unfathomable weight.
Despite being under this cursed like state, Seth stared into the horizon a will to battle flowing out of his frame like a wave from turbulent tides.
