Con-man instructions on how to live as a Noble

Chapter 62 - History or Future

Silas immediately threw away the head and heard it smacked at the wall.

"It is not a good omen to disrespect the statue." Eli said, looking quite confused.

Silas couldn’t blame the elf. He never saw his face before so he didn’t know that the statue looked exactly like him.

As he was about to inject the elf with the knowledge, the ground suddenly shook, making them lose their balance in the sand.

The tremor didn’t stop and began to spread around them, as if the world was cursing them or Silas for throwing away the statue. Silas admitted, maybe there was some kind of bad omen with this stuff.

The light on the mana crystal flickered, allowing the primordial darkness to take hold of them for a brief second and turning back on. Silas sighed in relief but didn’t speak.

The tremor was still strong. The ground split apart and glued by some sort of magical force.

The wall on the side where Silas threw his statue crumbled apart, revealing a new path. But no one was stupid enough to leave their current position and drove into the unknown.

Especially when the earthquake hasn’t stopped yet.

Then, it vanished as if the tremor didn’t appear at all.

Silas looked at the people around and let out a dried laugh.

"It is ugly." Roland said.

"Please, don’t insult statues anymore." Luna pleaded.

"I told you. It is not a good omen. You should pray to your god for saving your ass. I was imagining you will be taken by the tremor and die somewhere in the darkness." Eli said with a smirk.

"Rude." Silas pointed at Roland.

Then Luna. "Relax. It is just a coincidence."

And finally, Eli. "I don’t believe in God."

Firing back at their words, Silas raised his head while coughing up sand again. The tremor made the sand act up, dancing around in the air, messing with their face, nose and throat.

"Now we have a new path." Silas pointed out the obvious. "I will take the new path."

"Whatever is your wish, Silas." Roland said.

They changed the path and marched with the merciless sand again. The battle with sand was brutal and cold hearted.

Silas shut his mouth, covered up with his bandages as he felt a wind passing through them. A cold wind.

After enduring the blast of wind, Silas turned around with concern. "Are you fine?"

"How gentlemenly of you, Silas. Is that an act to deceive me?" Roland said.

Luna smiled with warmth. Eli looked around the surroundings and whistled a fine tune.

Silas nodded and turned around to continue again. With no goal in sight, they continued walking.

Walking. Walking. Sand.

Silas let out a frustrated yell and kicked at the nearby wall. He then let out a chuckle.

"That was childish behavior." Ronald reminded him.

Silas looked at him, about to rebuke but stopped himself. Roland was right, venting his frustration was childish.

’Strange.’ Silas frowned.

"Sorry, I will be careful." Silas said.

They arrived at the opening. The darkness was no longer with them not because of the mana crystal but because the opening shone brightly with brilliant.

A smile formed on Silas’s face. Hours of enduring under the sand paid off.

"Yes." Silas exclaimed and tried to make a fist bump with Roland.

Roland tilted his head and looked at the fist with confusion.

"Don’t tell me, you don’t know this."

"Unfortunately, I struggled to follow your word. Enlighten me, good sir." Roland asked.

"Shove your fist at mine." Silas smiled.

"Not too strong." He added for safe measure.

Roland followed and they created the first fist bump in this world. That information was solely acknowledged by Silas and him alone.

They all took the first step inside the new area.

It was like Silas saw, a very large room, bigger than his mansion. It was shaped in a dome like structure, covering them with breathtaking artwork.

The paintings on the wall were magnificent, words failed to describe the feeling it gave. The subject depicted in the painting was vast and gave off an alien feeling.

There was lightning bigger than the world, raining down. Spirits with thousands of army, marching toward the sky. Darkness creeping up from the ground.

And at the very center of all this chaos, there was a group of humans, bracing themself, hiding behind the shadow. The origin of the shadow was blurred.

Silas squinted his eyes, trying to take a better look at the humans.

He froze, seeing his own face again in it.

"Hey. I see you there." Roland said, pointing at the humans.

Silas nodded, his tongue was tied by dread. He didn’t give into much thoughts about his transmigration here but it was not definitely a glinch.

He suspected that he was purposely summoned here. If that was the case, then why?

He was a no name con-man, scamming the mafia while trying his best to save the children. He didn’t want to think that his life was being manipulated by some force.

But he couldn’t stop.

"Hmm. You all say that there is a man similar to Silas, right? I’m understanding this, right?" Eli asked, suddenly.

Luna nodded her head so furious that it looked like it hurted.

"Then, that person must be your ancestor. We are probably looking at world creation. You all know about the creation myth right?"

Everyone nodded, except Silas.

Of course, with the inherited memories he knew about the myth.

Despite the Gods being real in this world, they didn’t create the world they lived on. Before the world, before the Gods. Before everything, there was light.

When light existed, Darkness followed. They intertwined and the world formed as a result. From that light, Gods came and created humans and other races in the image of many lights.

And from the darkness, monsters were born.

That was a brief summary of the history. Of course, there were still some myths like humans formed a group and asked God.

How God descended in that era and the war erupted. The story of God slayer existed as well. Though, the story was banned and extinguished by many Churches across this world.

That was the only thing they all seemed to agree on.

The blasphemy act of the story of God slayer was the most evil act in their opinion. Silas chuckled as he remembered.
