Con-man instructions on how to live as a Noble

Chapter 48 - Spirit’s symbol

Two days passed.

Silas looked out from the window and saw the mountain peak, towering over the sky, piercing. The dominating pressure created from the sight filled the group with dread and awe.

Silas got down from the carriage and nodded. He changed his clothes from the noble attire to the adventure outfits. He placed his sword on his back and wore a black glove.

He looked around at his group and clapped his hand to get their attention.

"Let’s split."

Everyone nodded. Just as they discussed the group will split in two and go on their respective missions.

The first group was Silas and Roland. The two men.

The second group was Ice-pick and Luna. And the final group was Old Gin and Isvendar.

He had ordered Old Gin to stay here and guarded the carriage and his fiance. Their only goal for the next week was stay alive here and waited for their trumpet return.

He didn’t want to drag the two weakest people to the elves. And considering the Floen blood, he didn’t want it even more.

’Am I discriminating against her for her family?’ Silas thought and dismissed it fast.

He threw out the magic crystal which his mother gave him before the journey. After creating a crest inside and supporting it with mana. The crystal turned into an artifact in a blink of an eye.

He then implanted the crystal into the carriage.

Turning around, he faced Old Gin and told him the function about the artifact.

"It can block Tier 3 spells and has the effect of camouflage. If you encounter beasts, stay inside and wait for the beast to pass. Roland."

"Yes." The young knight came to his side, wearing his battle suit.

"Any strong beasts around here?"

"No. In fact, I don’t sense any at all."

"Must be because we are in the range of the Mountain." Silas said and turned back to Old Gin. He ordered safety first and left.

Then he called the two ladies.

"You two remember about my order right?"

Luna nodded while the succubus yawned. "I know. I know."

Ice-pick came up and warped her arm around his neck and kissed him. Silas frowned. "Know what?"

"We just have to send a letter to stupid elves staying in the picky finger peak."

"And?"

"Make some friends."

Silas sighed.

"Don’t worry, master. I will correct her." Luna came and said, peeling away Ice-pick from him.

"Good luck. You can leave the mission if the danger arises. I won’t cut the money from your salary." He joked but Luna took seriously and thanked him.

Silas was dumbfounded and decided to raise her salary after this. After all, in the war, he was going to need a lot of her help.

And to make sure that she never complained, money was necessary.

Silas smiled devilishly.

"That is a sight I haven’t seen in a while." Roland chimed in.

Silas rolled his eyes and nudged him.

He stretched his body and felt the wave of energy rushing inside his heart. He breathed in the fresh air and tried to hold it in to see how long he could last.

After about 10 minutes, he let go not because he can’t anymore but because he realized how stupid that seemed. His body was not the same as the previous one.

It was not studier and fitter. He surpassed every living thing on Earth by a mile and that gap will continue to increase.

Luna and Ice-pick had already left when he was checking his body.

Roland stood patiently beside him and let out a sigh.

Silas laughed in embarrassment and stood up.

"Alright, I am finished."

"You better be, otherwise we have to sleep on the road." Roland said.

As the two men were about to leave, Isvendar stepped forward, timidly. She hugged herself and looked down on the ground.

Silas stared at her, wanting to know why she stopped his path.

"What?" He asked coldly.

"Ah.. here." She extended the hand which she was hiding and opened up her palm.

There was a small piece of paper folded neatly inside.

"Ah.. I got the paper from Luna. I don’t steal it. I swear. I ask her...and she gives me." Isvendar explained.

Silas’s eyes softened for a brief moment and let out a sigh. He took the paper.

"You want to give me this right?"

She nodded.

"Alright, I will take it with me." Silas placed the paper inside his pocket and left.

He dashed with controlled speed, trying not to collide with the tree.

"May the spirit be with you." Isvendar yelled out loud, forcing her voice to reach his ears.

Since it would be rude to pretend not to hear, he just waved his hand and vanished from her sight.

They moved past the trees.

The surroundings blurred as Silas increased his speed when he got comfortable with moving. He jumped up high on top of the tree and jumped again to the next tree like a certain ninja.

But after that, he stepped down and resumed regular running.

Roland came to his side, puzzled by the strange movements of his.

"What are you doing?"

"I am trying something."

"And how was it?"

"Tree jumping is hard."

Roland agreed. "Yeah, you need precise control of your body and strength. Only with a clear head can you do that without failure."

"The Dark Shadow group must be an elite." Silas muttered.

"What? Why?"

"I heard from a rumor that they can do stuff like tree jumping with ease." Silas lied. It was not a rumor. He saw it with his eyes while playing the game.

Since the main protagonist always made the enemy with a central noble alliance, they sent Dark Shadow every time something happened. He remembered a shadow appeared from the ground when the main character dropped his guard when he was having sex with his girlfriends.

The ending of that bad route was rough. All the bodies were naked and heads cut off from their bodies.

Because the game was dark fantasy Eroge type, they didn’t bother to censor and showed everything.

Silas shook his head and focused on his steps. The mountain was high and to reach the peak, they needed to climb up the vertical rock slide.

When the sun reached the middle, they also reached the halfway point as well.

Silas called for a rest even though both of them didn’t need one. They found a shallow cave and rested in the shade.

Sitting down on the rock, Silas looked down at the path they took.

He whistled. It was very impressive that they managed to climb this much with the weapon and armor on their bodies.

As expected, the martial path gave birth to the most freakish people. He lived through the explosion that should vaporize regular people, granted he also had water shield but it was still impressive.

To be honest, if he experienced that again, he would give up and died.

"Have you seen the path we are going to climb?" Silas asked.

"Not yet. Let me check." Roland said and went outside the cave and climbed up. After staring at the mountain, he came back, nodding.

"I have memorized it."

"You have a good memory."

"Every martial practitioner has a good brain. I heard that some use energy as a fuel to energize the brain to the limit."

Silas snapped his fingers. "I heard it too." That was from Silas’s memories.

He remembered something and took out a paper given by Isvendar. He unfolded the paper and saw a symbol drawn crudely by her.

"Huh? Do you know what this is?"

Roland rolled his eyes and facepalmed. "A symbol of spirit. Usually, given by a lover to have a safe journey."

"I see. I guess it resembled a spell crest a little." Silas muttered. He didn’t care that much about religion and such, but he had a plan for that.

But that was still very far away.
