Con-man instructions on how to live as a Noble

Chapter 39 - Rumors

He waved the paper.

Luna entered the room and closed the door. She smiled at Silas and said. "I try to stop her from running but she is too strong."

Silas looked down at the clinging succubus and sighed. "Good job, keeping her this far."

He thanked the young apprentice.

Luna nodded with a blush.

Lately, Luan and Ice-pick had been hanging more closely. Silas was not going to complain. He was glad that Luna was beginning to open up.

Her timid nature was likely from trauma.

"Is the new true?" She asked, looking at the paper in his hand.

Silas nodded. "Yeah. I am going to get married. Where did you find the paper?"

"There was a group giving away these papers on the street."

"I see." Silas murmured and looked around the room.

Roland was sitting across from him, wearing a defeated look. He was not looking good.

And succubus was embracing him, taking in his smell.

’What has gotten into her?’

"You are supposed to be my safe place. You betray me. I am not going to forgive you." She repeated those words.

Silas grabbed her cheeks and stared at her teary eyes. For some reason, his heart was beating loudly, pulsing in his ears. He felt blood rushing to his neck.

More importantly, Ice-pick looked beautiful. She was like a sweet desert under his eyes. Her embrace allowed the heat between the two to intertwine.

Silas buried his face into her hair and licked her neck very slowly, savoring her taste. He wished it would eat her. He wanted her to eat him.

"Ahme!" Roland coughed.

Silas broke free from her charm and flickered her forehead.

"Ouch."

"Don’t use your charm on me. It is unpleasant." Silas said in disgust.

"I am sorry, I just lost control." Ice-pick rubbed her forehead and remembered the marriage. She hugged him again.

"Like I said, I don’t understand why you are throwing tantrums."

"You know that I am looking for love right?"

Silas nodded. "Obviously, that is why you come with us."

"Well, I was thinking. If I fail at that, I could just choose you." Ice-pick said.

"Are you stupid? Love doesn’t work like that. You don’t have the capacity to choose when you love." Silas flicked her forehead again, this time he reduced the strength behind it.

"So you love her?"

"Her? Oh, you mean Isvendar? Of course, I don’t. Who do you think I am? I am not a child that will fall in love with someone in a short time span. My love will take years upon years." Silas answered her honestly.

Ice-pick pouted. "Are you calling me a child?"

Silas smiled, rubbing her forehead. "I am not. Sure our view about love is not the same but I hope you will love someone. I really hope."

After all, if she doesn’t, she will get devoured by her instinct. He didn’t want that kind of ending for her. He didn’t want to see the scenario of the game in the real world.

"Now." Silas looked up and said. "Who wants to ask me? I will grant you."

Luna lifted up her hand.

"Go ahead."

"Why did you marry her?"

"For war."

"I see." Luna nodded and stepped back to her personal safe, looking like she was satisfied with his answer.

"Is she beautiful?" Ice-pick suddenly asked.

"I don’t know."

"What if she is ugly?"

"I don’t care."

"Hmm. Are you sexually frustrated?"

"What?"

"Do you love me?"

"No."

"Ah... Are we going to face strong enemies?"

Silas paused. He didn’t expect this kind of question from Ice-pick.

"Yeah. I am certain that we are going to face strong enemies." Silas stood up, ignoring Ice-pick.

"I won’t be selfish. You can leave if this scares you. To be honest, I am also scared of the future as well. I don’t have my family behind me. I am now alone and I am going to face one of the strongest families in the kingdom."

There was a silence hanging in the atmosphere. Seems like Silas managed to touch something uncomfortable for the group.

He was useless in this kind of situation.

He lowered his head and tried to think of a way to save this. He didn’t want to lose everyone here.

Roland was the main person he needed the most. His strength and instinct were unmatched for a knight.

Ice-pick’s abilities allowed him to control the army and beasts. Worse case scenario, he could reveal her identity and reflect on the serious damage.

As for Luna, he was a selfish person. He needed her to feel like he was doing something good. He saw her as his apprentice, someone he needed to protect.

Her timid nature reminded him of the kids from the slum.

For selfish reasons, he needed Luna to remind him of his cause. Pouring his head to not run away.

Each person in this room was important to him.

And he wanted them to know. But he didn’t know how to speak.

He clenched his hand so hard that blood dripped from his palm. A soft hand reached to him, soothing his mind.

It was Ice-pick’s charm.

Silas looked at her. She smiled. "Don’t worry. I am not going to run away. I told you, I am following you for my journey for love. And if I find my love, I am going to need a story to tell him."

Luna walked over to him and grabbed his arm from Ice-pick. She applied a healing spell which he didn’t really need because of his physique.

But he appreciated the warmth it gave.

"I am not guaranteeing that I will not run away if the situation was dire but I trust you, master." Luna said with a red flush on her face.

Silas nodded with a smile.

He then looked at the young knight, waiting.

Roland grumbled and stood up. "I am not going to swear my promise to you yet but I will follow you. Because your mother asked me to protect you."

"Someday."

"Someday." Silas repeated. "We will be a true partner."

Roland waved his hand and left the room.

Now, only the two women were left in the room. Silas felt uncomfortable under their gazes and threw them outside.

He sighed and sat down on the floor.

[Practicing spell?]

"No. I am recalling my capabilities. I have a long time before the fifth circle. I need to understand myself more."

***

The evening.

Silas opened his eyes and felt the improvement on the mana.

The training of mage and warrior were vastly different. Warriors trained by moving their body and mages, their minds.

Silas stood up, stretched his rigid limbs.

The knock came from the outside.

Silas walked over to the door and opened it.

There was no one standing in front of the door.

’Hmm.’

He sensed mana in the air and fragments of the spell also lingered as well.

It seemed like someone from the underworld was here.

Silas looked down and saw a book in front of his door. He crouched and picked up the book, flipping through, skimming.

He closed the book and let out a sigh.

"I am not going to sleep tonight as well."
