Chapter 84: I Quite Admire You, Let You and Your Kites Fly Together
Wang Nuli was stunned by this scene, but after a few seconds, he nodded firmly with a satisfied, foolish grin:
"Good, very good. You didn't hide somewhere crying and begging like I imagined."
"Jiang Ran, after making so many human-skin kites, I swear - once I turn you into a kite!"
"You'll absolutely become my favorite masterpiece, just like this beautiful lady kite! The best!"
"Oh? Then I'm quite honored."
Jiang Ran turned his head, wearing a spring breeze-like smile.
Strangely, his every movement and expression no longer resembled a man, but rather a woman - an ancient woman at that!
Wang Nuli froze for several more seconds, his lips twitching. Though unsure what was wrong with Jiang Ran - had he damaged his brain with that wrench? - it didn't matter.
"You're still going to die, whatever you are."
"Be good and don't move. I'm not that kind of sadist who enjoys slow torture. I'll make your departure from this world quick and clean." Indeed, Wang Nuli wasn't the torturing type. He killed solely to harvest skin for his kites.
Metal wrench in hand, Wang Nuli approached Jiang Ran step by step. To his surprise, Jiang Ran didn't flee but actually obeyed, standing perfectly still.
Though unexpected, it pleased him.
As he neared Jiang Ran, Wang Nuli raised the wrench high and swung down fiercely at Jiang Ran's head.
BANG!
At such close range, it should have been a sure hit - yet somehow, the wrench struck only tile floor, shattering it into pieces.
"No...not a miss. He dodged!"
Wang Nuli finally realized this as he tried raising the wrench again, only to find his hand pinned firmly under a heavy foot. No matter how he struggled, it wouldn't budge!
"You-!"
His furious glare upward was met by another foot crashing into his face. The powerful kick sent him flying backward into a pile of kites, crushing them all beneath him.
"What...what's going on?"
Blood streamed from Wang Nuli's nose as he clutched his face, covered in dust. He staggered up, staring at Jiang Ran who stood calmly after delivering the kick.
Somehow, this Jiang Ran seemed completely different from the one who first entered his home.
If forced to describe it - same body, different soul!
Even stranger, Jiang Ran's voice had become effeminate...soft and delicate...
Jiang Ran didn't answer, merely standing there with a serene smile:
"Wang Nuli, I quite admire you. Your kites are exquisite, especially this one - such dignified, graceful beauty that moves the heart."
Hearing this, Wang Nuli grinned as if meeting a fellow connoisseur: "That's my favorite too. The materials came from a woman with exceptionally refined features. Her skin was premium quality."
Jiang Ran asked: "Have you made other things from human skin?"
Wang Nuli frowned: "Other things? What would be the point? Using human skin for anything but kites would be wasteful."
Jiang Ran nodded: "So you're truly obsessed with kites."
"Then you should depart with your kites - no need to dirty my hands."
Wang Nuli's brows furrowed deeply: "Meaning?"
With a faint smile, Jiang Ran explained: "This is the eighth floor. Here's your chance - tie your favorite kites to yourself, as many as you want, then jump from this balcony window. Let's see if your creations can save you. Survive, and we'll consider your wrench attack on me settled. Agreeable?"
Wang Nuli chuckled, then suddenly snarled:
"Settle your ass!"
He hurled a kite at Jiang Ran's face to block vision while charging forward with a punch.
But the gap between them was vast. The kite didn't obstruct Jiang Ran's view at all, and Wang Nuli took another brutal kick, crashing down onto more destroyed kites.
"Tsk tsk, why must you be so disobedient?"
Jiang Ran picked up the metal wrench, approaching Wang Nuli with a gentle smile:
"Choose - beaten to death by me, or gamble with your kites?"
After being kicked down twice, Wang Nuli finally recognized the insurmountable difference in their abilities.
Yet...
He sneered: "Kill me? You dare murder someone?"
Immediately, he regretted his words as the wrench smashed onto his shin with terrifying force.
One strike was enough to make Wang Nuli scream and weep in agony, clutching his leg. Now he truly understood how his own victims had felt.
"Made your decision yet?"
Jiang Ran's spring breeze-like voice now sounded like thunderous storms to Wang Nuli's ears.
Through pain-slurred speech, Wang Nuli begged: "C-can I not die? I'm not afraid of death - I'm afraid of never making kites again!"
Jiang Ran answered with another wrench strike.
Wang Nuli frantically waved: "Okay! Okay! I choose! I choose the kite gamble!"
Limping on his injured leg, Wang Nuli realized refusing the eight-story plunge would indeed get him beaten to death.
Though the jump seemed equally fatal...maybe there was a sliver of hope?
Jiang Ran watched as Wang Nuli tied kites to himself.
Curious, Jiang Ran asked: "Why only these ordinary kites? Why not your precious human-skin ones on the wall?"
Wang Nuli snapped: "I'm not dying! I'll keep making kites! Those would get ruined! They're my life's work!"
Jiang Ran simply smiled.
Wang Nuli tried attaching numerous kites to maximize survival odds, but could only manage four small ones on his limbs and one large one on his back before reaching capacity. Hobbling to the balcony, Jiang Ran provided a chair to stand on.
"May you soar through the skies like your kites," Jiang Ran wished.
The eighth floor was terrifyingly high. Standing on the chair, Wang Nuli unexpectedly discovered a fear of heights.
Jiang Ran removed the balcony windows entirely - the kite-laden Wang Nuli couldn't fit through otherwise.
While Jiang Ran worked on the windows, Wang Nuli on the chair suddenly said: "Need to pee. Quick bathroom break."
Jiang Ran nodded, continuing his task.
Seizing this moment, Wang Nuli lunged at Jiang Ran, grabbing his legs in an attempt to lift and hurl him out the window - let him experience flight instead!
But Jiang Ran's body felt immovable as bedrock. Despite all his strength, Wang Nuli couldn't budge him an inch.
