Chapter 787 - 784: Playing One’s Last Card

Ye Fan was seething with rage. At that moment, the Gun God bellowed, "Die!" He swung the Soul Spear, hacking down toward Ye Fan.

But just then, a violet light descended from the Ziwei Star, shining upon the Gun God and immobilizing him. At that instant, he found his body completely unresponsive to his commands, not even granting him the chance to take a single step forward. Looking back at Ye Fan, the Gun God realized his spear had stopped a mere five centimeters from his throat. He didn’t need to move a full step forward; just half a step would have sealed Ye Fan’s fate.

"Aren’t you ashamed for using such treacherous means to ambush someone who fought you in open and honest combat?" a scolding voice rang out.

The Gun God turned his head and saw that the speaker was none other than the Seven-Colored Demon Empress. She had successfully connected with the Ziwei Star and completed her breakthrough. With the power of Spirit Mountain now supporting her, her combat prowess was immense. While her techniques might not have been as numerous or heaven-defying as Ye Fan’s, she was undoubtedly a top contender among the Subcestors.

The Gun God said coldly, "Another nosy woman!"

The Seven-Colored Demon Empress wielded the Ziwei Power, sending the Gun God flying back to crash hard on the ground. He rose to his feet, his face etched with an unprecedented seriousness as he faced both Ye Fan and the Demon Empress.

Ye Fan had already given him enough trouble. If not for his foul play, he would have died by Ye Fan’s hand moments ago. Now, with another heaven-defying Subcestor joining the fray, the tide of battle had turned. He knew his chances of escape were slim.

Nevertheless, he had always trusted the spear in his hand. As long as he held it, he believed he could overcome any enemy. Carving a bloody path to safety was not an impossible feat.

"Are you alright?" the Seven-Colored Demon Empress asked.

Ye Fan shook his head and smiled. "If you hadn’t come, I would’ve been in serious trouble."

"Now do you still think my breakthrough was unnecessary?" she retorted.

Challenged by the Seven-Colored Demon Empress, Ye Fan felt a flush of embarrassment. She truly wasn’t letting him save any face. But then again, he had only himself to blame. He had vehemently tried to stop her from breaking through, so it was only natural to be put in his place now.

"I will stand with you in battle!" the Seven-Colored Demon Empress declared.

"No."

"Why?" She hadn’t expected Ye Fan to refuse her.

"This is a grudge between him and me," Ye Fan explained. "He must be killed by my hand alone. No one else needs to intervene!"

"Then what about me?" she complained.

"Their army has advanced deep into the Divine Domain," Ye Fan replied. "Go and stop them!"

"No need. Those two sisters from the Soul Clan, your close confidantes, have already slaughtered that entire army."

"What?"

Hearing this, the Gun God was incredulous. He never imagined his army would fail to breach the Divine Domain.

Ye Fan laughed. "Then I’m relieved. It seems my father-in-law is truly the War God. No one can challenge his command!" He was delighted that the Great Wilderness God Monarch had lived up to his expectations, creating a miracle in his command of the troops.

"Then go help on the three staircases. Leave him to me!" Ye Fan said.

"Can you manage?" The Seven-Colored Demon Empress looked at the swaying Ye Fan with some disbelief. After all, he had nearly died under the Soul Spear just a moment ago.

Ye Fan responded, "What do I have to fear? For me, this is the best state for battle!"

The Seven-Colored Demon Empress ultimately chose to leave. Transforming into a stream of purple qi, she hurried toward the three staircases. She had to place her trust in Ye Fan.

"Now it’s just you and me! Let’s have a fair fight!" Ye Fan shouted at the Gun God.

The Gun God calmly replied, "Manly enough. Very well, I’ll give you a fair fight!"

He then activated the Soul Spear. Under his command, the entire sky filled with the vengeful cries of wailing souls. This was the true Gun God, now at his absolute peak. The vengeful Fierce Ghosts howled, their roars infused with Curse Power. They targeted Ye Fan as their greatest enemy, all of them under the Gun God’s firm control.

Ye Fan activated the Soul Altar, using its power to contend with the multitude of vengeful Fierce Ghosts. However, his aura was greatly weakened, for he had just suffered an unprecedentedly severe blow.

However, just as the Gun God was feeling smug, a single drop of blood spurted from Ye Fan’s body. This was the Heaven-defying Blood of a Heaven-defying being. Once activated, the blood shot straight for the vengeful Fierce Ghosts, scattering and disintegrating them on contact. At that moment, the Gun God’s Soul Spear completely broke apart.

But the drop of Heaven-defying Blood did not stop. Even after destroying the Soul Spear, it continued its charge toward the Gun God at maximum speed. The Gun God was shocked. He had never imagined a single drop of Heaven-defying Blood could inflict such devastating damage. His Soul Spear was now nothing more than an ethereal legend. He no longer held the advantage. Without his Soul Spear, he couldn’t be considered the true Gun God anymore.

Despite this, he did not let down his guard. He rushed toward the drop of blood with his indestructible body. In his view, the destruction of the Soul Spear wasn’t a true defeat. He believed the blood was merely a perfect counter to his weapon.

However, the moment the drop of Heaven-defying Blood landed on him, it pierced his Spiritual Spring.

"AHHH!" the Gun God screamed in agony.

This catastrophic blow to his Spiritual Spring plunged him into despair. His once bright, energetic eyes dimmed. He was now just a frail old man, his life force rapidly fading.

Not everyone could have their Spiritual Spring pierced and still be able to roll up their sleeves and fight like Ye Fan. For a Heaven-defying individual like him, the Spiritual Spring, his origin, and even the Soul Altar were all secondary. The Heaven-defying Blood could withstand anything. That was why Ye Fan could still fight. If it had been anyone else, they would have lost all combat ability the moment the spear pierced their Spiritual Spring.

The Gun God stared coldly at Ye Fan. He was truly injured now.

At that moment, Ye Fan declared, "Bullshit fair fight. *This* is what’s fair!"

Both of their Spiritual Springs were injured, and neither had a reliable weapon. Although Ye Fan had lost a drop of Heaven-defying Blood, it could be regenerated. Therefore, he felt no real pressure.

The Gun God roared, "You’ve angered me, and the price for that is despair! Now, I will show you the meaning of despair!"

He rushed forward, his aura flaring to its peak. His hair turned completely gray, yet his entire being returned to its previous vigorous state. He was still at his peak. As a powerhouse close to the Ancestor Realm, he unleashed the ultimate power of a Subcestor Peak. Every move and every punch exuded an unparalleled, domineering force.

The ancient Gun God was finally displaying the honor and dignity befitting his name.
