Chapter 60 - 59: Fallen Flowers Have Intentions

Walker was scolding two senior executives. They were at their wits’ end, having had no idea about the matter. After all, they were very busy and couldn’t possibly visit the art school to inspect the principal’s character all the time. But since their boss was reprimanding them, what could they do? They could only endure it, though they now despised the principal to their core.

At that moment, Walker spoke respectfully to Ye Fan. "Mr. Ye, I offer my sincerest apologies. My management oversight led to this disgraceful incident. Furthermore, from now on, Miss Luo Ling will be the next leading actress that Huayu Film Industry will heavily promote. Please, Mr. Ye, forgive my oversight!"

Only he knew how terrifying the King of Heaven was. Unfortunately, most people who had seen the King of Heaven were now dead. But judging from Ye Fan’s aura, he was confident that Ye Fan was the King of Heaven, though he dared not expose him on the spot.

Ye Fan said, "It’s not my decision to make; my sister has the final say. Besides, are you going to continue employing such a beastly principal? Who knows how many innocent girls he’s harmed!"

Walker assured him, "Mr. Ye, rest assured, neither he nor this woman will see tomorrow’s sun. Please accept this compensation as my apology. I implore you to take it!"

Ye Fan looked down and saw a check for twenty million. With an amount like that, he had to forgive Walker. One can’t argue with money, after all, and Walker had indeed helped both Su Qingxue and Luo Ling. So, he said, "Good. Well done. Handle this matter properly. The next time I’m at the Global International headquarters, I’ll be sure to put in a good word for you."

"Thank you, Mr. Ye!"

Although Walker wasn’t in the highest echelon of Global International yet, this praise from the King of Heaven practically guaranteed his future seat on the board of directors. He couldn’t have been happier. The board would definitely defer to the King of Heaven. For Walker, this assurance from Ye Fan was the greatest motivation he could ask for.

Ye Fan said to Luo Ling, "Sister, let’s go."

Luo Ling glanced at the principal, who was kneeling and trembling on the ground, and at Ma Rong, who had already fainted from fear. Then, she resolutely followed Ye Fan out.

The other teachers were terrified. They knew the principal was doomed, and they wouldn’t get off easy, either. Although their fate wasn’t as dire as his, getting fired was inevitable. At that moment, a ruthless glint appeared in Walker’s eyes, like that of a spectral wolf from Hell. The two executives knew that when their president had that look, someone was about to die. The ones doomed were clearly the principal and Ma Rong. Overwhelmed by despair, the pair fainted.

As Ye Fan walked with Luo Ling across the campus, he asked, "Feeling any better? If you’re still upset, I can go beat up Walker for you!"

"Much better, brother! Are you Superman?" Luo Ling asked.

Ye Fan looked puzzled. "Superman?"

"Superman is omnipotent, and I feel like you’re a Superman! A man who can do anything," Luo Ling said with a sweet smile. Ye Fan activated his Absolute Defense, refusing to be tempted by the smile.

He laughed. "What’s so great about Superman? I’m even more powerful than him! What do you want to eat today? I’ll take you!"

"Mm-hmm!" Luo Ling nodded obediently, hooked her arm through Ye Fan’s, and they left the campus together.

Just then, Chen Zihan arrived. "Teacher!" Luo Ling called out, wondering what brought her there at that moment.

Chen Zihan nodded, then looked at Ye Fan apologetically. "Mr. Ye, I’m sorry. I misunderstood you before. I see now that you truly have the ability to protect Luo Ling from harm. Luo Ling is a naive girl. You must treat her well!"

"It’s not like that. She’s my sister, understand?" Ye Fan hastily explained.

But looking at Chen Zihan’s expression, he knew she would never believe him. To make matters worse, Luo Ling didn’t bother to clarify either, seemingly relishing the idea that people saw them as a couple. Do nice guys have to be bullied like this? Why is it always the nice guy who gets hurt? Ye Fan lamented internally.

He turned to Luo Ling and said, "You can’t be so mischievous next time. You need to explain when people get the wrong idea, or I won’t dote on you anymore."

"Okay, brother!" Although Luo Ling responded obediently, whether she would actually explain or not was entirely her decision.

After dinner, Luo Ling found herself truly envious of the couples at the university. They could get a room together, but she couldn’t. Despite having a horde of admirers, she had vowed to love only Ye Fan in this life.

Ye Fan walked her back to the school and left immediately.

Luo Ling watched him go, a hint of desolation in her eyes. She wished he would kiss her, but it was clear that was just wishful thinking. She then realized something terrifying: Ye Fan was treating her more and more like an actual sister. No way! I absolutely will not let you see me as just a sister! she vowed to herself.

Having made her decision, she returned to her dormitory. It was an apartment-style suite she shared with three other women. Because of Luo Ling’s recent troubles, they had been afraid to talk to her, fearing they’d get dragged into the mess. The moment she returned, however, they rushed over to apologize guiltily.

"Luo Ling, we’re so sorry! It was our fault before!"

Luo Ling was long accustomed to such things. "It’s okay, I understand," she said. "At least during my toughest time, you didn’t kick me when I was down; you even helped me in secret. We’re still good sisters! And now that the troublemaker has been dealt with, we should be happy!"

"Luo Ling, you’re amazing! No, your boyfriend is the one who’s amazing! We heard that even the head of Global International is afraid of him!" the three girls gossiped.

Luo Ling sighed in frustration. "I see him as my boyfriend, but he only sees me as his sister!" This was indeed deeply troubling and the one thing she couldn’t accept.

"What?"

"No way! A man that decent still exists? He’d be a perfect match for me! I’m a well-behaved girl, too!" one of the roommates gushed with infatuated admiration.

Luo Ling and the other two rolled their eyes at her.

"A perfect match? I think you’d better spare the decent men the trouble!" another girl immediately teased.

"Haha!"

"Hmph!"

The girls began to fool around, but after their play-fighting subsided, they all turned to Luo Ling with encouragement. "You can do it, Luo Ling! What you really need isn’t a man with money and power. You need a man who will stand up for you when you’re being bullied, no matter the cost. And it’s obvious he’s exactly that kind of man!"

"Mm-hmm! Thank you all!" Luo Ling said gratefully.

The girls stayed up all night, pestering Luo Ling with gossipy questions. Luo Ling wished they would just let her be. In truth, she didn’t know much about Ye Fan either, only that he was a man who brought warmth to her heart.

The incident had spread throughout the school. The principal’s dismissal and disappearance brought a wave of relief to many teachers and students. The teachers who had supported the principal were also fired, which was immensely satisfying to everyone. But behind the satisfaction, they all realized that Luo Ling had an incredibly powerful backer—someone they could not afford to provoke. Those who had previously planned to bully Luo Ling and put her in her place now gave her a wide berth whenever they saw her.
