Chapter 55 - 54 Hidden Enemy
But at that moment, she couldn’t bring herself to do it. Her trembling hand retracted, and she said to Ye Fan in a cold voice, "I’ll deal with you next time!"
Then, she turned and left the KTV.
After she was gone, Ye Fan’s eyes snapped open. He was surprised that Luo Yazhi still hadn’t given up on trying to kill him.
He immediately got up and left the other women in the care of Chen Ying’s female subordinates. This KTV was under Chen Ying’s influence, and Chen Ying himself served Ye Fan.
So, after being notified by Ye Fan, Chen Ying informed the female subordinates who managed the KTV. The women stood guard outside the private room, not daring to enter, as these were orders from on high.
Chen Ying personally stood guard outside and had cleared out everyone else who was there to sing. He couldn’t rest easy. If anything happened to his boss’s women, his own career would be over. No one dared to cause trouble in this KTV to begin with, and with him personally standing watch, it was even less likely. Anyone who tried would simply be courting death.
As for Ye Fan, he followed Luo Yazhi to a location in the suburbs. He had the feeling that he still didn’t understand her completely.
Upon reaching the suburbs, Ye Fan slipped into a villa. The estate seemed eerily quiet.
Inside an elegant living room, Luo Yazhi was bowing respectfully.
Could Tianji Pavilion have arrived? Ye Fan wondered. After all, Luo Yazhi had previously belonged to Tianji Pavilion, so it was no surprise he would jump to that conclusion.
Just then, a figure appeared behind a folding screen, their identity obscured.
"I failed," Luo Yazhi said.
"Do you know what failure means?" a hoarse voice asked.
Ye Fan could tell the voice was deliberately distorted. It certainly wasn’t their real one.
"It means death," Luo Yazhi said again. "I’m sorry. The King of Heaven is too powerful. I truly couldn’t bring myself to do it."
Fear was evident on her face. At that moment, she seemed to know that the other party wouldn’t believe a word she said.
The voice spoke again. "Too powerful? You had plenty of opportunities. The truth is you didn’t want to kill him, did you?"
Luo Yazhi staggered back several steps.
Her thoughts had clearly been seen through by the figure behind the screen, leaving her frightened and unable to accept it.
Ye Fan was inwardly baffled. Is that voice male or female? It’s so hard to tell. I’ve never heard of such a person. To get to the bottom of this, I’ll have to start with Luo Yazhi.
The figure then said to Luo Yazhi, "I’ve told you before, as women, our lives are difficult. You cannot develop genuine feelings for any man. Otherwise, you’re just spinning a cocoon to trap yourself!"
Hearing this, Luo Yazhi didn’t dare to look up.
But Ye Fan had heard everything perfectly. ’We women’... That’s a huge clue. I can now confirm the speaker’s gender. It’s undoubtedly a woman.
Luo Yazhi said, trembling, "I won’t be soft-hearted next time!"
"I hope you don’t disappoint me. The King of Heaven must die! If he doesn’t, my plans cannot proceed!" the figure declared harshly.
Ye Fan was speechless. Who in the world have I offended? Why do so many people want me dead? And this person behind the screen—who is she?
At that moment, the figure asked Luo Yazhi again, "Tell me the truth. Are you in love with him?"
Luo Yazhi glanced at the figure and replied, "Yes."
The confession shocked even Ye Fan. He had assumed that Luo Yazhi’s world was devoid of emotion. To think that Luo Yazhi is in love with me, too... I’m starting to question my own charm. Is it really this heaven-defying?
Suddenly, a murderous aura surged through the air, filling the entire hall. Luo Yazhi was terrified, breaking out in a cold sweat as she felt the oppressive weight of the Power of Death closing in on her.
Ye Fan remained hidden in the shadows. He would save Luo Yazhi if he could. Although he desperately wanted to know who this person was and what their plans were against him, his instincts told him that now was not the right time to reveal himself. He still didn’t know if this person was connected to the Divine Dragon.
So, he held back.
Just as suddenly, the murderous aura vanished. The figure behind the screen said to Luo Yazhi, "I’ll forgive you one more time, but I don’t want to hear you say you love him ever again! If you don’t kill him, I’ll do it myself. I simply don’t wish to fully reveal my presence in the Divine Land just yet, as that would disrupt too many of my plans."
"Yes!" Luo Yazhi immediately nodded.
"Go. Don’t let them discover your identity and trace my existence through you! Otherwise, I will kill you without mercy."
"Yes!"
Luo Yazhi departed, a palpable sense of relief washing over her as she left.
Ye Fan quietly moved behind the screen, only to find it empty. The person who had been there was gone. He felt increasingly bewildered. This world was truly not a simple one. He now had another hidden enemy, and what was more frightening was that he had no idea who this enemy was.
...
Outside the villa, a mysterious woman about to board a luxurious yacht was suddenly surrounded by members of Hu Hua Jianlai. Had Ye Fan been present, he would have instantly recognized her as the person who had just been speaking with Luo Yazhi.
She said coldly, "It seems I’ve run into some small fry. You’d better not block my path, or I’ll kill you!"
"Arrogant intruder from overseas! How dare you trespass in the Divine Land! Today, you’ll die without a burial place!"
This squad was none other than Sword Comes One and his team, who were tasked with supervising Ye Fan. They now had the mysterious woman surrounded, preparing to capture her.
The mysterious woman sneered, "You overestimate yourselves!"
She moved quickly, unleashing an oppressive aura. In an instant, the team members were forced to their knees. The power was overwhelming—far greater than anything they had ever experienced, even from the King of Heaven. It was terrifying. This immense power plunged them into despair.
Suddenly, someone else intervened. A majestic and profound voice echoed, "Arrogant intruder, the Divine Land is not a place for you to run wild!"
As the voice faded, another figure appeared. His hair was white and he looked ancient, yet his power was immense. He immediately rushed toward the mysterious woman.
BANG!
He exchanged a palm strike with her, sending her flying backward onto the yacht. From the deck, she called out, "I’m in a hurry today, so I’ll spare you. Next time, I will personally take your head!"
"Such arrogance! After her!" Sword Comes One shouted, preparing to lead his men in pursuit.
But the white-haired elder stopped them. "Don’t chase. She is incredibly strong. Even if you caught up, you would be no match for her."
He continued, "Since she has committed no truly atrocious acts in the Divine Land, let’s consider this a warning."
"Alliance Hierarch!" Sword Comes One and his team saluted respectfully.
"No need for formalities," the elder said. "The times are changing. The balance of the underground world is gone. You must intensify your patrols."
"Yes, sir!"
The group quickly vanished into the Dark Night.
The elder then smiled and said, "King of Heaven, it seems you and I also need to have a proper talk."
