Chapter 130: THIRD POV.
The balls just sank uselessly into the mud below, though some hit their marks, but it was pointless considering the number of casualties on the beasts side were negligible, not to mention that the death of their comrades only fueled their fury and blood lust even more.
BAM!!!!
With one more massive, coordinated blow from a dozen sharks at once, one of the smaller flanking ships couldn't take the immense pressure anymore.
The main beam snapped with a sound like thunder, and the entire vessel began sinking down into the dark depths of the ocean, the water swallowing the lower decks in a matter of seconds.
As the ship sank beneath the waves, countless sharks instantly pounced on the defenseless pirates who were thrown into the open water, tearing them limb from limb before they could even attempt to swim away.
The sea turned a dark, heavy shade of red as the frenzied maws ripped through clothes and flesh alike.
Harold's mind trembled violently, his entire body drenched in a cold, thick sweat as he watched the utter destruction of his allies.
His hands gripped his own ship's railing so tightly that his knuckles turned white. He wanted to look away, but the sheer horror of the sight kept his eyes locked onto the bloody water.
BAM!!!
Another ship began sinking as well, its front side dipping low into the ocean as the heavy waves poured over the side rails.
"ARRGHH!!!"
"Someone help me!!!"
"I don't want to die!!!"
"My leg!!! Something's got my leg!!!"
Cries of pure anguish completely drowned out the general chaos of the battle. Everyone was struggling to flee, climbing up the ropes and trying to jump onto the remaining pieces of floating wood, but in a sea filled to the brim with blood-thirsty, frenzied sharks, every single effort was entirely hopeless.
The animals were jumping out of the water, pulling men down from the low chains and dragging them into the crimson foam.
"Douglas!!! Please!!! Call them off, I'm begging you, old friend!!!" The exact moment the very ship Harold was standing on began sinking as well, its floorboards cracking open beneath his boots, he quickly forwent all of his stupid pride and began begging loudly for his life.
He dropped to his knees on the tilting deck, reaching his hands out toward the medium vessel that was still sitting perfectly fine in the middle of the mess.
"Sorry, old chap, but there's absolutely nothing I can do for you. I did try to warn you to leave while you had the chance," Douglas said, his voice entirely flat and calm.
Seeing Harold slowly plunging down toward his unavoidable demise, Douglas merely tilted his dirty hat downwards to shield his eyes from the messy sight, remaining completely silent as he stood by the mast.
He knew better than to interfere with the wishes of the lady standing next to him.
Getting no positive reply from his old acquaintance, Harold fell into an even deeper layer of utter despair, and yet there was absolutely nothing he could do to change his fate.
His feet slipped on the wet wood, and he tumbled backward into the freezing ocean.
"NOOOO!!!!"
As the desperate screams of peril filled the open sea, Harold himself was eventually devoured by those frenzied maws as well.
A massive gray shark caught him by the waist, dragging him under the surface before he could finish his final shout, leaving nothing but a large, spreading red patch in the middle of the sea.
Persephone maintained a completely cold, unbothered disposition throughout every single second of the massacre.
Her eyes didn't blink as the men screamed, and her pink hair remained perfectly still in the wind. To her, these pirates were nothing more than common garbage that needed to be cleaned away so her path would be clear.
While Artria said absolutely nothing, her expression had long since darkened into a deep, troubled look after witnessing that one-sided, brutal massacre take place right before her eyes.
Her hands were crossed over her chest, her lips pressed into a thin line.
She felt a deep sense of discomfort watching so many men get ripped apart without a proper fight, and yet she could do nothing but remain completely silent.
After all, it was those very same pirates who had started the entire conflict by trying to capture them and do away with them as they liked.
They had brought this doom upon themselves.
"Huh? Another one?" Artria blinked in sudden surprise, her sharp ears hearing the sound of a different hull threading through the waves.
She raised her head and noticed another medium sized ship rapidly approaching their position from the distance.
"Their numbers do not matter in the slightest. They shall all fall the exact same way as the others," Persephone said coldly, her voice cutting through the remaining splashes of the water.
She didn't even spare the new ship a single glance, looking at it as nothing more than another piece of annoying trash.
With a mere thought, using her strange, hidden power over the creatures of the deep, the frenzied sharks in the water that were still tearing the left-over pieces of the pirate crew suddenly froze completely for a single moment.
Then their black eyes began turning toward the horizon.
Before they all shot forward like living torpedoes, swimming towards the First Hornet in a massive, terrifying frenzy, their dorsal fins cutting through the bloody water like sharp knives.
"Persephone!!!!" Artria who finally regained her senses, suddenly screamed at the top of her lungs, her blue hair whipping around her face as she turned around.
"What on earth are you doing!" she said, her voice shaking with a mix of anger and absolute shock as she began rushing across the wet deck towards her sister.
She couldn't believe that Persephone was ready to slaughter another ship full of people without even knowing who they were or why they were approaching.
"Who's to say they don't have the exact same bad intentions as those dirty pirates we just dealt with?" Persephone said coldly, not moving an inch as she kept her hands folded in front of her.
