SSS Void Ascension: I Devour All Elements

Chapter 142 142: Lady Radiance

Killian slowly looked away, feeling something crawling up his skin, and digging into his bones.

He stared down at his body to be sure he was still whole. He dug his hands into his pockets as he heard her footsteps.

'Yeah, this isn't good for me.'

'I have evolved now so my body would be greatly adverse to light.'

That would also mean that unlike Lu, who he had only felt nervous around, being around this girl in the future would mess up his mental state. She possessed a truer form for light.

Killian forced his feet to move and jumped into the shadow by the storage room. After appearing by his door, he looked back and found her staring at the storage door.

Judging from her height and body weight, she was his age or slightly older, and there was no way she could naturally exude radiance of that intensity.

Her casual pajamas and messy white hair also signaled that, like him, she was likely just waking from a nap. Killian looked away, feeling the crawling sensation on his skin again.

He also heard footsteps coming towards the door, and he returned inside the room, resting on the door. The Coordinator returned to the room and found Killian calmly by the door.

The Coordinator raised his hand towards the girl. A light burst of wind rushed to the hallway belonging to the Platinum-plated room.

Killian didn't understand why he did that, and expected some type of declaration of war since he made the first move.

But nothing happened. After that the Coordinator spoke.

"Lady Radiance, your presence is scaring your junior. Please stay inside."

There was no reaction, no words spoken, but Killian noticed the light slowly faded till he heard the closing click of the door. 'Wait, she really just went in?'

He met the amused gaze of the Coordinator.

"Were you really scared?"

"Is she a Ruler's child?" Killian asked instead.

The Coordinator's amused expression faltered. His brows straightened. "You don't know about Lady Radiance? She's a descendant of the past Rulers and likely to be one of the new generation of Rulers."

Killian leaned forward. "Aren't the Rulers a monarchy?"

"Well, they are usually picked from a specific set of families, but it isn't passed down like a monarchy." The Coordinator hummed. "How do you not know this? Didn't you go to a private academy?"

Killian calmly walked down the hallway leading out of Dorm Dragon.

The Coordinator shook his head while following him. They walked down the hallway and just before Killian opened the door, he heard the shattering of glass.

The sound came from the room he just left.

Almost instantly, the Coordinator stood in front of him. He opened the door immediately and forced Killian out of the door.

"Enjoy your meal," the coordinator said calmly.

Killian heard a low growl coming from the hallway before the breeze slammed the door shut.

"..."

'What just happened?'

He momentarily stood there, not hearing a sound as the doors demarcating the Dorms were very sound-repelling.

Ever so calmly, Killian adjusted his clothes, and continued walking.

"He will be fine. He wouldn't be a Coordinator in charge of Dorm Dragon if he couldn't pull his own weight," he muttered, assuring himself. "Still, if these are the outcasts, then sending an animal is really random."

"And it's a good thing you aren't freaking out right now."

'Over an animal? You think too lightly of me.'

'Those outcasts think lightly of me too, if they sent an animal.'

He checked his notification tab for any messages and there were none. He forced the phone into his pockets and breathed in and out.

Walking down the hallway leading to the next dorm, Killian felt a familiar gaze on him. He kept his head forward as he walked, but despite walking faster to avoid him, the boy caught up.

"Hey, how are you doing? Killian, right?"

Killian sighed, sparing the boy a glance.

He didn't understand why being his brother's roommate meant they had to be friends as well. "Yeah, Lu, shouldn't you be watching the matches too?"

"I was, but I left for a short break. There's no one to talk to there."

Killian wanted to ask about Reginald but reasoned that Reginald wouldn't speak to him either. He slowed down after he noticed Lu couldn't keep up with his pace.

"What does Light Users training regimen look like?"

Lu raised a brow, facing Killian. "That's sudden. How do you know that I am a Light User?"

Killian hummed. While it wouldn't be odd to say Reginald had told him, saying that it was his brother might feel more natural. "Keith told me that you are related to the Rulers, so I guessed."

"Oh, yeah. Keith doesn't speak to me much so I didn't think he'd have been the one to tell you."

'So did he expect me to say Reginald told me?' Killian studied the boy's expression for a while before nodding. "Well… that happened. You didn't answer my question—"

"Light isn't a physical element in the same sense as Earth or Water. Actually, you might understand better as a Fire User because it is really close to it."

Killian nodded along with his explanation, waiting a second by the door to signal that Lu should come along.

They reached the cleared area used for training before the cafeteria, and Lu stopped behind Killian.

"Is it just me or is everyone asleep early all of a sudden?"

Killian halted at the door, his hand was already outstretched to hold the knob. He lowered his hand and turned back to the cleared area.

While it was late, it was still unusual for the training area to be so empty.

They stood still, staring at the door that'll probably have the answers they needed if opened.

"Am I so hungry?" Killian stared at his stomach, rethinking his decision to go outside there.

He spun on his heels, and stretched his arms above his head. "I will just order fries or something—"

Click. Click.

The door opened. Killian looked back at the door instantly.
