The Stranger Behind My Orgasm

Chapter 273: HIS SNEAKY HIDEOUT

Third POV

The warehouse smelled of rust, damp concrete, and waste, because Devin’s men had turned the backyard into a toilet.

Water dripped somewhere in the warehouse. The sound was rather annoying. The men had tried to find where it was coming from, but they couldn’t roam around because they had to keep an eye on their captives.

Broken wooden pallets and discarded machines were scattered across the floor.

Devin Wolfe shoved the heavy metal door open with his shoulder.

The hinges let out a loud screech that made his men groan and cover their ears. Blood had soaked through the bandage on his knee, where the crazy Kellerman bitch had hit him.

Though his mother’s doctor had tended the wound, it had burst open while he was escaping the night his mother died before his eyes.

It was a hot, throbbing reminder of his failure at the docks. His face was twisted with fury. His eyes were bloodshot from lack of sleep and all the drugs he was taking to stay awake.

In the dim light hanging from the rafters, he could make out the two elderly figures tied to metal chairs in the center of the room.

Marissa and Hugo Kellerman.

Their hands were bound behind their backs with zip ties that cut into their wrinkled skin. Their ankles had been tied to the chair legs with cable wires, and gags were shoved in their mouths.

They had been there for six hours. Marissa was making muffled noises against the gag, rocking her chair violently against the concrete floor, her white hair falling around her face as she dared to glare at him.

Devin stormed over, his boots slamming into the ground. Jeff and two other henchmen exchanged glances.

They had seen what Devin had done to the last guard who spoke out of turn. He had a broken nose and three missing teeth for suggesting they just kill the old folks and be done with it.

Devin had been in a murderous mood, and it was getting worse. You would think Marissa would pick up on that and stay quiet, but she was every bit as stubborn as her granddaughter.

"Shut the fuck up, old woman," Devin snarled, ripping the gag from Marissa’s mouth so forcefully that her lip split.

He grabbed her jaw hard, forcing her face up until her neck strained. "You think making noise is going to save you? You think anyone’s coming? This warehouse is in the middle of nowhere!"

Marissa’s eyes blazed, and she gathered saliva in her mouth and spat in his face, the hot glob hitting his cheek and dripping down.

"You pathetic piece of shit. You killed my daughter and son-in-law, and now you come for us? You’re nothing but a coward hiding behind your mother’s skirts... oh wait, she’s dead too, isn’t she? I heard she died screaming. Just like you’ll die."

Devin’s eyes flashed with pure anger. He backhanded her hard across the face.

Marissa’s head snapped sideways, a thin line of blood appearing at the corner of her mouth, but she didn’t cry out.

She turned back to face him slowly, giving a bloody smile, while her husband lunged sideways in his chair and slammed his head into Devin’s. Devin cursed and stumbled back, wheezing, grabbing his head in pain.

"You son of a bitch!" Gerald roared. "Touch her again and I’ll bite your throat out, you hear me? I’ll haunt your dreams, you miserable bastard!"

Devin recovered, wiping the spit from his cheek with the back of his hand, laughing hysterically.

"Crazy. Your whole fucking family is crazy. No wonder you raised such a nosy, stubborn bitch like Abigail. Always sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong. Always playing the hero." He paced in front of them, his limp from the gunshot becoming more obvious.

"She thinks she’s so smart, setting me up, killing my mother, fucking my brother."

Marissa lifted her chin proudly despite the red mark blooming on her cheek. "You’re a dead man walking,"

Devin crouched in front of them, his knees popping. His eyes were wild and unfocused. He whipped out his gun and swayed between them like a cobra deciding which victim to strike. After the hassle he had gone through to get them down to New York, the little bitch had better show up.

"Really? I’m waiting for her to come. Because she loves you pathetic old fools too much. That’s her weakness — she loves, she cares, and she gives a damn." He laughed bitterly.

"You think you’re so tough? When your foolish granddaughter comes here, I’ll kill her right in front of you. Then I’ll finish what I started fifteen years ago and wipe out every last person who made my life hell."

Jeff shifted uncomfortably near the wall, his hand tightening on his gun. He had worked for Gina Wolfe for ten years, but this wasn’t business anymore. It was getting ugly. "Boss, the old man’s bleeding from the head. You want us to-"

"Shut up," Devin snapped, not even turning around. He stood abruptly, pacing again.

"Tie the gags back on if they make another sound. I need them alive... for now." He ran a hand through his greasy hair, smearing blood across his forehead.

"I need her to see them, to see what I’m going to do to them and hear her beg! I need her to beg."

He stepped away to take a call from one of his remaining contacts — a weapons dealer who was supposed to bring him papers and tickets for a boat out of the country. Marissa and Gerald glanced at each other, tears filling their eyes.

Blood trickled from Gerald’s forehead where he had headbutted Devin.

"I love that girl more than life," Gerald whispered hoarsely, his voice barely audible over the distant sound of Devin shouting into his phone. "If she comes here... she’ll risk everything. She’ll trade herself for us. You know she will."

Marissa shook her head. "We can’t let her walk into this trap. If we can find a way to... to end it ourselves before she gets here,"

"Don’t talk like that," Gerald cut in, his voice cracking. He leaned forward as far as his bindings allowed, pressing his forehead against hers. "Don’t you dare talk like that, Marissa,"

"But if it comes down to it," Marissa interrupted, her tears falling freely now, "I’d rather die than watch her get hurt because of us. I’d rather die knowing she was safe than live knowing she died for us."

Gerald closed his eyes. "I know,"

Devin stalked outside, furiously ranting at the guy who was supposed to bring him his ticket. He was running late. His phone beeped with an incoming call while he was still on the line, and the name on the screen made his lips curl into a smile.

He ended the current call to take it. "Vicky honey," he purred into the receiver. "I was just thinking about you."
