Chapter 262: Completion of Speed Star
The first third of the circular track around the energy tower had already been laid.
The massive base of the tower cart had been dismantled into dozens of rail segments, which were now joined into a circular line. The vehicle itself had been flipped onto the rails. Its platform now carried construction materials, transformed into a brand-new transport and building platform.
As the largest transport tool, it would later advance to the second ring, the third ring, and even the city elevator as construction pushed forward.
When Link had inspected it earlier, he immediately thought it looked like a Transformer. Its outer shell was pieced together from thin steel rails. The floor was made from sleepers and prefab wall panels. The side railings could be lifted, and with added cables, they became four hoisting arms.
Not a single part of the cart was wasted.
This design deserved a prize!
The earlier wave of migrants had already begun their work. From his vantage point, people bustled back and forth like ants toward several supply depots. They dragged sleds, drove cars, or carried goods on their backs—endlessly moving scrap steel, coal, concrete, and firewood toward the newborn city.
Since Link had crossed halfway through, he hadn’t participated in earlier exercises. But the truth was, the process of building a settlement had been rehearsed dozens of times across Britain. Everyone had been required to take part. Most were already very familiar with the early stages of construction.
The initial resources came from the tower cart and the supply depots. Once personnel arrived, they didn’t even need much supervision. After a simple division of labor, they could begin working at once.
