Chapter 330: Thanks to the Diver
Leon kept his eyes on the bobber floating on the lake’s surface while Abigail, under his guidance, began following his instructions step by step.
As soon as the bobber moved, he planned to tell her to reel in—giving her first fishing trip a promising start.
Unfortunately, luck didn’t seem to be on their side. The two of them stood by the shore for over ten minutes without so much as a twitch from the bobber. Abigail, with her lively temperament, was already growing impatient, and Leon was puzzled too.
Logically speaking, even if no fish had bitten yet, there should have been at least some nibbling from fish curious enough to try the red worm bait—causing the bobber to move slightly. Yet the bobber simply lay there, lifeless on the water.
Leon took the rod from Abigail, intending to check the condition of the bait. But as soon as he lifted it, he realized the hook seemed to have snagged onto something.
“Is it a fish?” Abigail asked quickly, noticing the fishing line go taut.
“No, probably something caught on the hook.” Leon shook his head. He tried reeling in and felt some resistance, but it was light—most likely a small, submerged object.
As the line grew shorter, the hooked object slowly surfaced. Oddly enough, the closer it came to leaving the water, the heavier it felt.
Still, it was nothing compared to reeling in one of those massive meter-long fish. There was no struggle—just a bit of effort to pull it ashore.
