Richest Rag-picker

Chapter 411 - 384: Opening Ceremony

Not only were there hot air balloons, but a dozen or so large trucks were also parked to the side, all of them filled to the brim with rose petals.

And for some reason, the petals had undergone some kind of special treatment; they were now all sealed in small individual bags.

According to the description, eight hours after the bags were opened, the petals would automatically dissolve into a harmless powder.

That way, they wouldn’t even have to worry about cleanup.

"Boss, the helicopter’s loaded. Should we bring it over now?"

Qi Xiaotian, who was nearby, suddenly walked over and asked Fang Chenyi, who was busy with preparations.

But Fang Chenyi just shook his head. "No, don’t bring it here. Just have them on standby at the house. It’s only a three-minute flight from there. If they come over now, it’ll definitely attract unwanted attention."

Qi Xiaotian nodded and went to coordinate with the helicopter crew.

BRRRING... His phone suddenly rang. It was a call from his father-in-law, asking where he was.

Fang Chenyi told him he was just outside the university and that they should go ahead and have dinner with his own parents first. Once they were done, they could drive over.

Fang Chenyi had also arranged a prime viewing spot for them: a hot air balloon. Seven balloons would be ascending in total. Besides the one for himself and Bai Menghan, he had reserved another one for his parents and his in-laws.

As for the other four hot air balloons, they were naturally claimed by Fang Chenyi’s band of mischievous friends. Wei Yilong shamelessly pestered his way into sharing one with Su Tantan, and Principal Wang had also reserved one.

Time ticked by. Finally, at 6:00 PM, the gates opened for the show.

On his end, Fang Chenyi’s preparations were complete. All he had to do was wait for the show to begin.

Nearby, Principal Wang was gnawing on a piece of bread with one hand while tapping away at his phone with the other, composing something.

Wei Yilong, having just finished his tasks and rushed over, saw this and leaned in curiously. He realized Principal Wang was making a social media post.

The post was simple: "Just a minute, everyone! Head over to my livestream. You’re in for a real show!"

Not only that, but he had also attached a picture of himself gnawing on the bread.

Of course, Principal Wang didn’t mention any other details. After all, Fang Chenyi was planning a surprise.

As soon as Principal Wang’s post went live, it caused an uproar online. Within moments, over ten thousand comments flooded in.

HottieSis: Can’t wait to see what my hubby is up to.

ImDanielWu: Holy shit, Principal Wang is eating bread? Damn, isn’t that the same dollar-fifty bread I always eat?

Shark_Bread: @Principal Wang, hello, I’m a representative from the Great Shark Bread Company. We were wondering if we could discuss a potential collaboration. Whatever that *other* bread company paid you for an endorsement, we’ll double it! All you have to do is hold our bread in your photos from now on.

TotallyUnreliable: I’m sure Principal Wang will grant your wish. He’ll definitely be clutching your bread... especially when he’s on the toilet.

UpstairIsMySon: This thread is getting weird. Anyway, got my popcorn, soda, and water ready. Just waiting for the Principal to go live.

Principal Wang chuckled at the various comments, then closed the social media app and walked over to Fang Chenyi, who was resting with his eyes closed.

At 8:00 PM, a wave of opening music signaled the start of the incredibly lavish graduation gala.

Below the stage was a dense sea of people. A rough estimate put the crowd at no less than fifty thousand!

Of course, they weren’t all students from Yan University. After word got out that Yan University was planning something big, students from nearby schools like Science Master and Northeast University had all flocked over.

Some local residents had shown up as well. After all, tonight’s gala was free and required no tickets, though only students were given assigned seating.

Bai Menghan and the other Yan University graduate students were all seated in the front row, as they had to go on stage for a group photo later.

In front of them were reporters and camera crews from various television stations. People spotted cameras not just from the local Qinhuang Island TV Station, but even from major networks like Mango TV and CTV TV Station.

For a moment, everyone was confused. It was just a graduation gala, so why had so many media outlets shown up?

Sitting in the front row with Su Tantan, Bai Menghan looked out at the sea of people, utterly bewildered.

"Tantan, what in the world is the university up to? Why is this so over-the-top?"

However, even though Wei Yilong had reserved a hot air balloon for them, he hadn’t told Su Tantan a thing about Fang Chenyi’s plan to propose. As a result, she was just as clueless and simply shook her head.

"Who knows? Maybe they’re just trying to generate some hype. Whatever, let’s just watch. With a spectacle this big, the rumors about a celebrity guest might actually be true. Hehe, Menghan, look what I brought! Chips, popcorn, soda, and a bunch of other snacks. Here, let’s eat together."

Bai Menghan felt Su Tantan was probably right. But when she saw that Tantan’s small bag was filled entirely with snacks, she was rendered speechless.

After the opening music faded, the hosts finally walked onto the stage. The moment they appeared, the entire crowd erupted, and suddenly it all made sense why so many media outlets were there.

"Holy shit, that’s Teacher He! Oh my god! Teacher He is actually our host!!"

"AHHH! And Nana! Holy crap, the university has lost its mind! They actually got two A-list celebrities as hosts!"

Meanwhile, backstage, Principal Wang immediately started his livestream. In an instant, his viewer count surged past one hundred thousand.

The viewers who flooded into the stream were stunned by what they saw.

Is that... backstage??

Are those hosts Teacher He and Nana??

Did the Principal go on *Happy Camp*??

In an instant, the screen was flooded with similar questions. Watching the scrolling comments, Principal Wang just chuckled and began to speak.

"Hehe, I bet you all have a lot of questions. I’m not going to answer them right now. Just keep watching, because something incredible is about to happen. Alright, I’ve got my own job to do, so I’m just going to set the phone down here and let you guys watch."

After speaking, he took a phone stand from a nearby crew member and clipped his phone into it, positioning it backstage with a clear view of the stage.

For the viewers in the livestream, it was the first time they had ever watched a gala from this angle, and they found it surprisingly fascinating.
