’Should I slit his throat? No, that would be too easy a punishment for him. I should consider my plans carefully and then carry them out.’

Shelly kept her expression neutral.. She even pretended not to know Albus, but it was all for Rin’s sake. He did not deserve to be dragged into Albus’s bullshit.

But unfortunately, Shelly did not account for Rin showing kindness to Albus and even entertaining him enough to let him talk.

If this was before the apocalypse, she would have made Albus disappear before he could even get to Rin. But now it would be a lot harder to do.

Not impossible, but too time-consuming. Shelly could spend that time instead staying by Rin’s side.

So she glared at Albus, signaling she wanted him gone. And he noticed.

Unfortunately, he proved to be incompetent and froze in shock.

Her plan backfired in the worst way because instead of ignoring Albus, Rin now looked worried for him. He even reached out to check on him and Shelly wanted to burn the hand resting on Albus’s shoulder

’Well, Albus’s hair is already red, so it would be easy to hide the evidence of my crime. Now, I just need to find a place to drag him quietly It shouldn’t be too difficult—’

Unfortunately, there was one problem with her plan and that was Amelia. She was far too dedicated to Albus and kept an eye on him at all times.

Getting past her would not be easy. Especially since her powers were related to healing. But again, this was not impossible to do either.

Shelly just needed to be a little creative—

"You look a little pale. Did Reina not show you to your rooms? You should rest if you feel tired."

Rin’s hand moved from Albus’s shoulder to his forehead. It made Albus flinch, but Shelly was the one burning with jealousy. Her eyes recorded every moment in front of her with crystal-clear precision.

After all, she needed to list out the crimes Albus committed once she decided to get rid of him.

Luckily for Albus, he had some self-awareness and he immediately stepped back and straightened up.

He coughed to hide his discomfort and forced a smile.

Reina also came over then and Amelia immediately took her place beside Albus. However, Shelly felt agitated seeing her look at Rin instead of her partner.

"Albus, are you alright?"

Amelia asked softly and finally turned her attention back to Albus. But that was not enough.

Shelly wanted all attention off Rin. Anyone would do—

"Rin, do you want me to take over the tour? Reina must be busy taking care of the medical wing and Shelly seems socially awkward. Doesn’t that make me the best choice to guide our guests around?"

’Tsk, I spoke too soon.’

Teressa noticed a gap and decided to slip inside. Her smile was opportunistic and her offer likely involved scouting potential future targets she could use.

Shelly had no problem with her getting lost or going after someone else. But Rin was different. She could read the displeasure in his eyes.

"Teressa, you have not been here long enough to become anyone’s guide. But you are right. Reina is the only hunter we have with medical powers (Amelia’s fist tightened), so we cannot have her exhaust herself. So that leaves—"

’Darn it. It seems like I have no choice but to volunteer. I can bring Teressa and make an excuse that she needs to be shown around as well. I’ll be able to keep her away from Rin that way—’

"I will call for Collins and have him assign a maid to show our guests around. As much as I would like to show you around myself, I doubt I’ll have the time to do so."

Shelly instantly calmed down. She had not even considered the butler as a viable option, but he was likely the best option.

The sour mood that was plaguing Shelly instantly lifted and her smile turned genuine.

Albus was the only one who was at a loss for words. He looked at Shelly to gauge her reaction, but she wasn’t even interested in looking at him.

That finally got the message across and Albus sighed and decided to leave.

Collins was busy so they assigned another maid to show Albus around. But Shelly still did not feel completely satisfied.

In fact, she had even more questions than before. But she was not going to demand answers from Rin. She was going to demand answers from Albus instead.

Just who was he and why did Rin treat him so well? She would uncover it first and then she will work on Rin once more.

She did not like how he was getting closer to other people. She already had enough competition from other women, she did not need it from other males as well.

’Maybe I should just give in to my desires and burn everything down. It will make things easier’

Sigh

"This is hard, but it’s needed. Let’s keep up this pace."

Rin muttered these words. He seemed unaware that he had spoken these words aloud.This was not the first time something like this had happened. This habit was something Rin had developed while they were young. Since Shelly had driven everyone away, Rin did not see a point in keeping his thoughts hidden.

She often heard him mutter to himself but she never pointed it out. In fact, she liked that he felt comfortable enough to speak in her presence. It helped her understand what Rin wanted.

Like now. Since Rin was muttering that he needed this place to function, Shelly had to adjust her plans accordingly and make sure to eliminate only the threats.

It was frustrating but she could do anything for Rin’s sake...even tolerate others and allow Rin to use them.

But there was a limit to her patience and she was slowly starting to understand her mother’s actions of keeping her father confined to bed while working hard for his sake.

Rin was not her father and he had different values. But maybe he won’t mind it too much if Shelly bound him and allowed him to work from there. He could still control everything and Shelly could be his arms and legs.

’Hmm, I should work toward this goal. I should try doing things mother’s way for once.’
