Chapter 48: Ch 48: Why would you call for Teressa?
"We are about to reach our destination. Who’s the fastest here? Go and inform Miss Reina that Sir Rin is unconscious and would need her help as soon as possible. Someone else should carry him inside-"
"I will do it. You all look exhausted and might drop Rin, but I will never make such a mistake."
Shelly tightened her grip on Rin as she spoke these words. Her tone served as a warning for the others to not question her.
The people in the truck felt unsettled by Shelly’s actions. She was cuddling Rin, but the air around her warned everyone not to take a step toward her.
All they could do was watch her take care of Rin with a frown on their faces.
Shelly noticed their passive aggression toward her, but she did not care. All she cared about was Rin, who was fast asleep on her lap.
Her hands reached toward Rin’s face to play with his hair and he twitched. It made Shelly’s heart skip a beat in relief.
Rin was not dead.
Rin had survived all this time and then came back to her. It was a miracle and Shelly was not going to let Rin go ever again.
’It feels so good to hold Rin in my arms. But I don’t like how everyone else is looking at Rin. I should be the only one allowed to look at him. Should I take all their eyes out? No, that would be hard to explain to Rin.’
Shelly was unhappy with these people accompanying ’her’ Rin. They were making so many mistakes that it was beyond frustrating.
First, they decided to stop in the middle of nowhere to pick up more people. They were wasting precious time that could be spent getting Rin back.
Secondly, they were driving too slow. According to the driver, the material in the truck was likely already damaged so they did not want to risk damaging it even further.
And third, they all pretended to care for Rin, but no one tried to help him or even approach Shelly to check on him. All their concern was superficial, and that was their greatest flaw.
If it were up to Shelly, then none of these people would even be alive. But Rin had brought them along because he needed them.
And that saved their lives...for now.
Shelly was playing nice, but only for as long as Rin wanted her to. Once he forgot about these people, ttheir time would run out.
Because unlike Rin, Shelly did not forget those who had wronged her and the person she cared about most.
"We are here. I will go and bring Reina-"
"Then I will-"
"No. I told you that I will do this myself. There is no need to guide me around either. I already know my way around. Reina is in the medical wing, right?"
Shelly did not even wait for a confirmation before she wrapped her arm around Rin’s shoulder and pulled him up.
It wasn’t hard for her to carry Rin, but it reduced how much of her body touched him. Having him lean on her felt much better, but also looked less comfortable for Rin.
"Ehm...Miss, maybe you should carry Sir Rin on your back instead? That might be the most comfortable posture for both of you."
That made sense and Shelly instantly switched around. It made even more of Rin’s body touch her and she could even feel his weight on her back.
Speaking of his weight... wasn’t Rin far too light? Shelly did not recall him ever being this light when she picked him up before.
’Is he not even eating properly? Tsk, there is not much mismanagement here. But now that I am back, I will take care of him. Rin will not have to worry about anything ever again.’
Rin had too many useless people around him. He did not need any of them to waste his time. Shelly was going to make sure Rin only needed to spend his precious time with her.
She quickly took Rin to the medical room and opened the door loudly. Reina immediately rushed forward to grab Rin, but froze when she saw Shelly.
"You...what are you doing here? No wait, give Rin here. Is he alright?"
Shelly’s grip tightened around Rin and she pulled him closer to her body. She did not feel good about handing her precious person over to Reina.
Reina noticed her hesitation, but instead of backing down, she showed even greater resolve.
"Shelly, I already know that you don’t like me. But that is no reason for you to take it out on Rin, right? The longer you keep him away, the longer he will suffer."
"Ugh, I really don’t like you. And I like it even less when your words make sense. The only reason I am trusting you is because of that promise you made me and because you care for Rin. But you better not cross any line."
Reina tensed as soon as the promise was brought up and Shelly had a bad feeling about it and was about to call Reina out, but Rin ruined her plans.
He coughed and opened his eyes. He immediately looked around until his eyes rested on Reina.
"Rin, can you hear me? If you can, then can you say something? I will check you now-"
"G-Get Teressa for me. I need...to check something..."
Reina’s expression was tight and she bit her lower lip in agitation. This wasn’t a request she had expected.
But Shelly felt even more annoyed than Reina did. She did not know what this ’Teressa’ was, but the fact that Rin had called for her as soon as he opened his eyes did not bode well for her.
’It looks like my list of people to get rid of just got a little longer. Now, when should I get to this Teressa?’
Shelly was calculating her odds of getting away with murder and not being caught but Reina looked pissed.
"You are looking like you are about to die and your first thought is about that succubus? Did you seriously get charmed or something-"
"That’s not it. The system won’t stop buzzing about her. Since I’m her master, it’s telling me to stabilize her condition. Ugh, this is so annoying."
Rin’s words shut Reina up and she gritted her teeth before she left the room to get Teressa.
Shelly watched her run out but Rin quickly grabbed her attention back.
"Ugh, this is a nightmare. But I also need to make sure Teressa is in a good condition so I can make proper use of her abilities..."
That calmed Shelly down.
’Ah, so Teressa is not someone important. She’s a tool at best, but Rin needs her. I guess I will need to handle her a little more carefully now.’
