Regulus lowered his head slightly, respectful. "The Venomous Tentacula's magic doesn't follow fixed channels. It diffuses and permeates. Completely different logic from the Whomping Willow."
Sprout nodded, tapping her fingers lightly on the watering can beside her. "One slow, one fast. One quiet, one violent."
Her brown eyes settled on him, a hint of mischief at the corner of her mouth. "The Tentacula's paralysis. Planning to study that too?"
"Not for now," Regulus said, shaking his head. "Only observing."
He'd stayed behind to honor a promise.
The Whomping Willow's magical properties and tendencies had come from Professor Sprout. Last year she'd given him two words: conduction and oscillation. The Disintegration Curse followed from there.
He was grateful to her.
And she'd said, if the day came when he found a Whomping Willow and discovered something, to tell her.
