Chapter 315: The Great Whale: A Man-and-Nature Harmony
“…”
Was she under so much stress that she was hallucinating? How had it looked like a whale had suddenly appeared out of nowhere and swallowed Gary whole?
Everly stared at the choppy surface of the sea for a while. When she was certain there was no sign of Gary, she took another dive, forcing her stinging eyes open as she searched the water around her.
Gary was nowhere to be found beneath the surface either.
Instead, she found herself looking straight into a black eye encircled by glowing blue rings.
Its owner hovered silently about two meters away. Its enormous streamlined body stretched across the water before her as its fins and tail swayed lazily, watching her with one calm eye.
It looked strikingly similar to an orca, yet was far larger—so massive it rivaled a small boat. Its fins and tail also differed from those of any ordinary whale. The fins along its sides were translucent, fan-shaped appendages reinforced with bony spines, while its equally transparent tail trailed behind it with two graceful ribbons that floated like the tent*cles of a jellyfish.
A creature with features this distinctive was impossible to forget after seeing it even once.
After observing it underwater for a while, Everly’s head began to feel heavy from the lack of oxygen.
