Chapter 563: Don't You Know Whose Turf This Is?

Shen Yibin couldn't help but shake his head and sigh. 'Those two rascals, Hah'Er and Egg, are such a handful. If you two had just stayed by Carmen's side, would this scammer have even dared to try anything? It's a good thing someone's trying to scam me. If some idiot had provoked Carmen and it fought back and injured them, that would've been a real disaster.'

"Owww, my leg is definitely broken! I can't... I can't take it! I need to go to the hospital, get a CT scan, an MRI." It looked like this old man was a seasoned pro; he rattled off the medical terms one after another.

"I told you, that's enough. Get up and get going. I saw it perfectly clearly—my dog didn't even touch you." Shen Yibin was losing his patience. "If you're going to pull a scam, you should at least do your homework first. You have no idea whose turf this is."

The old man froze at his words, furtively glancing around. When he saw no signs of cameras, he relaxed. 'As long as there's no evidence, I have nothing to fear,' he thought. As for the surrounding pedestrians, he wasn't worried at all. In this day and age, who would willingly get involved in someone else's trouble? Even if someone saw what happened, they would never step up to be a witness for Shen Yibin.

"If your dog hadn't knocked into me, do you think I would have just fallen over on my own? Owww, what is the world coming to? People don't control their dogs, and then they refuse to take responsibility when someone gets hurt." The old man got even more worked up, wailing with all his might, though not a single tear was in sight. The crowd of onlookers also began to blame Shen Yibin.

It couldn't be helped. The old man, with his white hair, looked frail and pitiful. Then there was Shen Yibin, young and sharply dressed—he looked like a rich guy. Even if just out of sympathy, it felt like Shen Yibin should be the one to pay. Immediately, someone spoke up, "Young man, you're still the one who didn't control your dog. It's only right to give the old gentleman some money for the hospital."

"Exactly! You don't look like you're short on cash. Just consider it a good deed." The crowd began to pressure Shen Yibin. A flicker of triumph flashed in the old man's eyes; he was sure this job was in the bag.

"If it were really my fault, I'd pay whatever you ask. But for something that has nothing to do with me, I'm not paying a single cent." Having been put through this whole ordeal, Shen Yibin was getting angry. He glared at the old man. "I'm telling you, sir, if you don't get up now, I'm calling the police. Extortion is a crime that'll get you jail time."

The old man flinched. Shen Yibin's fearlessness was actually a little intimidating. But then he remembered there were no cameras, and his composure returned. "What? So you think you're in the right after hitting someone?"

"Make way, make way! Dad! How did you fall?" Seeing the old man was about to buckle under the pressure, his accomplices showed up. Two burly men squeezed through the crowd. One blocked Shen Yibin's way while the other crouched by the old man and started wailing, "I saw it with my own eyes! Your dog charged over and knocked my dad down! How can you deny it!"

'Great, now they've even brought out a witness.' The man beside Shen Yibin reached out to grab his collar, cursing, "You son of a bitch! You dare run into my dad? You're not going anywhere until you give us a satisfactory answer!"

After training with Shi Gaofei and Xiaoliu for so long, there was no way Shen Yibin would let this guy grab him. With a loud SMACK, he slapped the man's hand away. "Hmph. It seems you won't give up until you see the Yellow River!" He turned and waved. "Hah'Er! Egg! Get over here!"

"Huh?" Hah'Er and Egg paused, then quickly scrambled out of the alley to Shen Yibin's side. The moment they saw someone trying to attack Shen Yibin, they became furious. 'You think you can mess with Bin?' They immediately crouched and growled at the man, looking ready to pounce at any second.

The man was about to fight back, but when he saw a panda approaching, he nearly pissed his pants. 'If I lay a hand on that, how long am I going to jail for? A guy who can just casually have a panda with him must be a huge deal. Did we just pick a fight with the wrong person?' But then another thought occurred to him. 'Anyway, he has no proof. As long as we stick to our story that the old man was knocked over by the dog, we can definitely shake him down for some cash.'

"Wow! A panda! Is that Hah'Er?"

"What's that one next to him?"

"Oh my goodness, isn't that Egg? You're finally back! We've missed you so, so much!" The appearance of Hah'Er and Egg instantly drew the attention of everyone on the street. A crowd of middle-aged women immediately swarmed over, staring at Egg in delight. Even Hah'Er's fame was overshadowed by Egg's.

"What's going on here? Why is such a big crowd gathered?" After the women pushed their way in, they quickly got the story from the people on the sidelines.

"Get up, you old coot! I was just strolling across the street. I saw you throw yourself on the ground with my own two eyes," one of the women immediately declared, stepping forward as a witness for Shen Yibin.

"This isn't your first time pulling this stunt, is it? I saw you trying to scam someone else in front of my store just yesterday. And let me tell you, my store has security cameras, and the video hasn't been deleted yet!" another person added, providing new evidence.

'That's what I'm talking about,' Shen Yibin thought. 'How could I possibly get scammed right here in front of Baiyun Square with Egg by my side? Egg is the undisputed boss around here. This whole street is full of aunties who are Egg's fans. Was there ever any doubt I'd find witnesses?'

Shen Yibin was smiling, but the three scammers looked like they were about to cry. The two burly men tried to abandon the old man and run for it. The old man himself scrambled up from the ground and tried to bolt through the crowd, moving with incredible speed. There was no sign of a broken leg whatsoever!

"Stop them! How dare you come to our Baiyun Street to pull an extortion scam! You really picked the wrong place!" Shen Yibin's former landlady, Mrs. Wang, yelled at the top of her lungs. The group of women immediately closed in, completely unafraid of the three conmen. Those who were too far to join the circle quickly pulled out their phones and started dialing 110.

"Thank you! Thank you all so much!" Seeing that the trio had no chance of escape, Shen Yibin hurriedly thanked the kind-hearted women.

"Oh, don't mention it! You were wearing different clothes, and Egg and Hah'Er weren't with you, so we didn't recognize you right away. We would've come over much sooner otherwise!" Mrs. Wang and the others said with a laugh, their eyes darting constantly toward Egg.

"To be honest, I was counting on you all being here. I figured someone would definitely be a witness for me, otherwise I would have given in and paid them off long ago," Shen Yibin admitted. With Egg's reputation, he never had to worry about a lack of backup. 'Hm? Does this count as riding my Raccoon Cat's coattails?'

A short while later, a police car sped over with its sirens blaring. After getting a clear picture of the situation, the officers stuffed the three scammers inside. The women were more than happy to provide the police with evidence. It looked like those three were going to be locked up for a good while.

Once the dust had settled, Mrs. Wang approached Shen Yibin with a wide grin. "Bin, we've been practicing a new dance lately. How about you let Egg come over and give us some pointers later?"
