Chapter 470: Lance’s Plan
"Take a look here." Lance pointed toward the valley. "I saw in Mr. Wen’s design plans that he intended to turn this area into a forest with a stream running through the middle. That design is certainly very fitting, but I think we can add something more. I plan to use those large trees to build a small-scale roller coaster, using the trunks for support and hiding the coaster among the leaves. This way, we won’t alter the original design but can add a new amusement ride. What do you think?"
"But can these trees support a roller coaster?" Shen Yibin was a little hesitant. ’Roller coasters seem pretty heavy, right? What if it damages the trees?’ "Also, won’t adding a roller coaster have a negative impact on the trees’ growth and development?"
"I plan to build a miniature roller coaster with an estimated six to eight seats. The coaster cars will be built from nanomaterials to ensure strength while minimizing weight as much as possible. That way, even at full capacity, the total weight won’t be too high. These trees can fully support it." Lance had already considered these issues. "We’ll also be mindful of the trees’ growth and development when connecting the structure, so they won’t suffer any adverse effects."
"Furthermore, the cars and track, built from this new material, include noise-canceling designs, so even at full speed, it won’t disturb anyone resting indoors." He had thought of more than just that; he’d even considered things Shen Yibin hadn’t. "Also, when the roller coaster starts, it will emit ultrasonic waves to drive away birds and small animals from the track. This protects them from harm and ensures passenger safety. The colors of the cars and track will also be chosen to blend in with the forest, so they won’t look out of place."
’Some of this is over my head, but it sounds impressive.’ Shen Yibin nodded silently and continued to listen to Lance. "Then there’s the Totem Pole. I see there’s a long, blank section at the bottom. Could we perhaps build a carousel around the Totem Pole? Of course, even though it’s called a carousel, it doesn’t mean all the seats have to be horses. We could use seats shaped like pandas, Beavers, hamsters, monkeys, Mongooses, and Raccoon Cats, incorporating all the animals on the Totem Pole."
Uh, if they built it like that, it would be Hah’Er riding Bald Qiang, Bald Qiang riding Xiaoliu, Xiaoliu riding Gao Lujie, Gao Lujie riding Egg, and Egg riding Shi Gaofei... Shen Yibin couldn’t help but shudder. ’That image is just... It’s just too chaotic. I really can’t accept that.’
"Since it’s an amusement ride for them to play on, using their own likenesses for the seats probably isn’t a great idea, is it?" Shen Yibin quickly voiced his opinion. ’If they really make it like that, it’ll probably look a bit tacky.’
"Alright, we can discuss the designs later. Right now, I’m trying to figure out how to allow people to go up and view the Totem Pole while ensuring the carousel can operate normally. That’s likely to be a bit of a headache." Lance humbly accepted Shen Yibin’s suggestion.
"Let’s just pick a different spot. I think the Totem Pole is great as it is; we shouldn’t add anything else to it," Shen Yibin said. ’The Totem Pole that Marc and Bald Qiang carved is a work of art. We shouldn’t ruin a piece of art.’
"In that case, let’s move the carousel here, to a spot near the riverbank." Lance had a backup plan ready. He immediately tapped his tablet, moving the carousel’s icon to the riverside. "Here, you can enjoy the beautiful riverside scenery while having fun. It’s an equally wonderful experience."
"Won’t it block the view of the river from the house?" Shen Yibin continued to ask. The manor Wen Yuan had designed for him had huge floor-to-ceiling viewing windows and a scenic balcony. He could wake up, draw the curtains, and see the beautiful scenery of the Yunshui River. In the afternoon, as the sun was about to set, setting up a barbecue grill on the balcony to eat skewers and drink while admiring the view was also a supreme pleasure. Shen Yibin didn’t want to ruin any of that.
"Not at all. I’ve already taken all of that into account in the design. The carousel’s location won’t affect your view of the river from the manor." As he spoke, Lance drew the line of sight from the manor to the river on the design diagram. Indeed, the carousel did not obstruct Shen Yibin’s view.
"That’s good, then. What’s this? A Ferris wheel?" Shen Yibin was drawn to another image. He tilted his head, looking curiously at the sketch. ’Where would the Ferris wheel go?’
"Yes, it’s a Ferris wheel. I plan to place it next to the Beavers’ dam and style it to look like a water wheel. That way, it will blend in nicely with the surrounding environment." With a few quick strokes, Lance sketched the general appearance of the Ferris wheel. It did bear some resemblance to the water wheels often seen in movies and on TV. "As for the materials, we’ll use wood as much as possible. For the parts where we can’t use wood, we’ll apply a wood-grain paint to make it look as much like a water wheel as possible."
"No, absolutely do not use wood materials or wood-grain paint." Shen Yibin panicked a little when he heard this. ’Dude, you have to look at where this is! This is Bald Qiang and his partner’s territory. If you use wood, aren’t you just inviting them to come chew on it? I don’t want to be on the Ferris wheel when it collapses right as I reach the top. That’s a death sentence!’
"Alright, if you don’t like the wood color, we’ll change it." Lance shrugged, and in a moment, he had pulled up several different options on his computer for Shen Yibin to choose from.
"Mm, I’ll take these plans back and discuss them." As long as it wasn’t a wood color, Shen Yibin had no objections. ’I’ll have Wen Yuan help take a look later, and then let Hah’Er and the others pick.’
"No problem. Next, let’s look at the water rafting ride. The flow and drop of this section of stream are perfectly suited for a rafting attraction. We can build one upstream from the dam." After all, this wasn’t an empty plot of land, so Lance could only squeeze in the amusement rides wherever he found a spot. "Similarly, in my design, I will try my best to ensure it blends with the environment along the stream, so it won’t look out of place."
"And this one... I plan to place the honey pots near the bamboo forest..." Holding his tablet, Lance showed Shen Yibin his sketches page by page, explaining the benefits of each design. He continued talking right up until it was almost time for dinner.
"Hah’Er, you’re going to have lots and lots of amusement rides to play on in the future." After Lance finished, Shen Yibin took the tablet and flipped through the pages one by one for Hah’Er to see. "Then you’ll be able to have all the fun you want on your own!"
"Hm?" Hah’Er tilted its head, thinking about what Shen Yibin had said. Then, it suddenly lunged forward and hugged his leg.
