Chapter 214: Devil Church
Maria dangled the pendulum on the map of the Luandon. She had been trying to find this Wicked Witch since the moment she arrived. But the witch was nowhere to be found.
It was either she wasn't here. Or that Satan was wrong.
Maria obviously couldn't bother Satan or even dared to say that he was wrong to his face. So she decided to stick around.
That day, the pendulum reacted. The chain froze as the pendulum pointed to a spot on the map. The tip of the pendulum moved ever so slightly, indicating the target was on the move.
"She's here?!" Maria blurted out. Then she frowned. Because the target was coming directly to her direction.
"Girls! We're having a guest!"
Carter stopped in front of a church made of stone. The bell tower was the tallest structure of the building complex.
'I said to lay low and they bought a church as their facade...'
Carter pushed the large wooden door open. The nuns stood on either side of the lobby, waiting for him.
Maria stood in the middle, wearing the Bishop uniform with a tall hat and a staff in her hand.
"Welcome, Ursula LeBeau." Maria said.
"So. You must be Maria Du Manac. Satan's new favorite." The raven-haired woman said.
Maria was proud to be called that name. Her face couldn't contain the smugness.
"I am just a humble servant of Master. He said that you can take care of a new base for us." Maria said.
Carter nodded. He marched forward.
"Let's discuss my payment."
Maria squinted her eyes. "As a servant of Master, how dare you ask for payment?"
"I'm not asking him for payment. I'm asking you. How far would you go to complete his task?"
Maria's smile widened. She raised her palm and crushed it.
Shadow appeared around Carter, squeezed the air around him.
"Maybe I should adjust that perception of yours." Maria said.
Carter smirked. The beauty mark on his cheek moved.
Green aura spread from Carter and pushed the shadow away. "You may not want to see how this ends, Maria."
Carter pulled a totem out of his pocket. This one he had just made not so long ago.
The Crone laughed. "Witch Totem? What kind of child play is this? Totem is a weak ability of a witch. It's basically a beginner technique."
"Maybe for you. But not for me."
Carter dropped the totem on the ground. It was a wooden statue of a griffin.
The statue exploded into a large black griffin. Winds blasted through the air.
The Forest Crone twisted her fingers. Roots shot up from the ground.
They were about to fight each other. But Carter wasn't here to fight his own minions.
"Enough!" The voice of Satan echoed.
Maria and all the witches knelt down. "Master!"
Maria's shadow crawled out and transformed into a man.
"She's my beneficiary. I tell you to find her to ask for her help and learn from her."
"I... I apologize, Master. I misunderstood you."
The shadow slapped Maria. Carter had to make Satan a little sadistic. If he wasn't, that wouldn't be Satan.
"Do not disappoint me again. Ursula will be the Pope of our Church from now on. Treats her as you treat me."
The shadow retreated to Maria's feet and returned to normal.
Maria touched her cheek. She wasn't mad at him. Only at herself. After all, she had met many more worse things. A slap was nothing.
"I understand, Master."
Carter covered his mouth and laughed loudly. "Looks like someone is too stupid!"
Maria breathed heavily but didn't bite back.
"Miss LeBeau. Please accept my apology for what happened. I am here to ask for your help."
Maria bowed at Carter.
"Alright. Alright. I won't make you beg."
The Church of Devil consisted of Maria and her witches. They were a little bit distasteful in Carter's opinion. Their body was corroded by Wicked Spiritualization and caused them to appear incredibly monstrous.
They looked fine now because of their magic but the witches were still scary underneath. Scary with no beauty at all.
'Not on my watch.' Carter thought to himself. He was determined to create proper evil sexy witches.
So, he taught Wicked Spiritualization to the witches of the Devil Church.
Carter taught Art of Willpower to the Superhuman so they could learn Adrenaline.
The Art of Mirror World was for Transcension. And the Art of Primal Instinct was for Primal Spiritualization.
Unfortunately, a witch was not the kind that would practice Mental Art, so created something like that for them was useless.
Carter thought of a different path. Witch Potions.
Witch Potion could literally do anything. As long as they had enough magic power for it. And of course, the ingredients had to fulfill certain conditions for them to work.
With the power of Shadow Apothecary and Wicked Witch, Carter had finished developed two formulas. One for Awaken. And one for Elite.
The raven-haired witch placed the two scrolls on the table.
"Your master wants you to follow my path. So here it is." Carter said. "I only have Awaken and Elite Formula. You guys have to figure out the Champion Formula yourself."
Maria nodded. "What do you want in exchange?"
Carter then placed a piece of paper down. "I need some materials for my witch potions."
Maria's mouth twitched when she saw the long list. "I understand."
"The second thing. The new base cannot be in Luandon. It will be a moving house, constantly roaming in the wilderness. I need you to build the base of the house first."
Carter placed a schematic on the table. "I already prepare it for you. Just find some builder to finish it. I will come and make it alive."
"Turn an entire structure into a living being? That is no joke."
"Don't worry. I can do it."
"Anything else you need?"
"Just a few more things. I need you to collect these materials for me."
Another piece of paper was placed on the table.
"Consider it done."
"Good. I will be waiting."
Carter had already found the path to raise Wicked Witch's Synchronization. Unfortunately, no Mental Art could be made. But creating Witch Potion and Witch Totem was a pretty good source of Synchronization.
Carter aimed to make her a Champion also.
'Satan. Frankenstein. Dracula. And now Ursula. All the major characters are almost ready now. I just need to prepare a few more for the climax.'
John Collins hadn't entered the playing field yet. And the other Witch Coven with Beatrice was also lurking in the shadow. Soon, all the pieces would fall into their rightful places.
