Chapter 615: Truly Gifted
Xiangbei sat in his chair, watching Huang Shiyong, who was lying on the ground, crying and repeatedly kowtowing. He lit a cigar and slowly smoked.
He was waiting, knowing that soon someone would come to Jinshang KTV, and there was a good chance it would be that beautiful general manager.
Huang Shiyong slowly lifted his head, secretly glancing at him, pretending to reflect on his past, feeling deeply guilty, and looking forward to a future where he vowed to turn over a new leaf. All that was missing was snot and tears, crying for his parents. In this scene, Xu Xiangbei almost felt like saying that with such talent, it’s a waste not to be an actor.
At the same time, he wondered if in Gu Xinyan’s next play, he could be given a minor role as a villain; he probably would be incredibly lifelike, he might even become famous!
In less than two minutes, he saw a dancing girl leading a group of burly men charging in fiercely. At the forefront of the dancing girl stood a middle-aged man in a black suit, wearing high-end leather shoes, a blue tie, with a square face.
The burly men behind each wore black clothes, sunglasses, and had imposing statures, exuding an overbearing vibe. You could feel the oppressive presence of their muscles from several meters away.
Seeing this group of burly men arrive, Huang Shiyong looked as if he had seen his savior, his eyes filled with hopeful light. Where was that teary image from earlier? He sprang up and ran towards those burly men, with a look of schadenfreude on his face.
At the same time, he shouted out, "Vice General Manager Li, this man is causing trouble in the KTV, he openly hit me, knocked out my bodyguards, and threatened me. Jinshang KTV must handle this matter." He pointed a finger at Xu Xiangbei, as if there was a deep grudge of stolen wives or murdered fathers.
Xu Xiangbei saw him change faces faster than flipping a book, realizing he truly had a knack for acting. Not becoming an actor was indeed the entertainment world’s greatest loss.
The person he called Vice General Manager Li, the middle-aged man with the square face, saw his look and wanted to secretly curse him for incompetence. Yet, since Huang Shiyong was a KTV customer and held significant status in Jiangcheng, he had to calm him down, speaking softly, "Boss Huang, sorry for the scare. Rest assured, our KTV will handle this matter."
Then he looked at Xu Xiangbei, speaking calmly and composedly, "I am Li Jie, Vice General Manager of Jinshang KTV. May I know who you are and why you are causing trouble in our KTV?" He appeared confident and strategic, seemingly invincible with every scheme planned.
"Oh, so it’s Vice General Manager Li. Nice to meet you. I wonder if your general manager is here?" Xu Xiangbei didn’t directly answer him, with a look of disappointment, thinking that beautiful general manager would come.
After hearing his words, Li Jie snorted coldly, with his face turning grim, and spoke somewhat sternly, "Our general manager is busy with important matters. Who exactly are you?" Before Xu Xiangbei could answer, he continued, "But regardless of who you are, if you wish to cause trouble in Jinshang KTV, we will have to show you out."
As soon as he finished speaking, five or six burly men stepped forward. Each had a robust build, with an expressionless face, exuding a murderous aura from head to toe. Xu Xiangbei looked at the thick calluses on their thumbs, deducing they handled guns regularly. He sensed the chilling murderous air from them, though well-contained, still spreading fear, indicating that each had blood on their hands.
"Retired SWAT officers or foreign mercenaries?" Xu Xiangbei quickly identified their identities, speaking with some surprise.
"It seems you have some remarkable abilities, being able to instantly determine my subordinates’ identities?" Li Jie, hearing his words, frowned immediately, realizing Xu Xiangbei was not ordinary. Therefore, he didn’t act rashly.
As the saying goes, reading ten thousand books is not as useful as traveling ten thousand miles, and traveling ten thousand miles is not as worthwhile as meeting countless people. Li Jie managed to become the Vice General Manager of Jiangcheng’s most luxurious KTV—Jinshang KTV—relying not only on exceptional talent and courage but also on the wisdom of recognizing people.
"You guessed right; my subordinates are all retired from a West African mercenary group, each having gone through the fires of war, to put it bluntly, they have more than one or two lives on their hands. I hope you understand your position."
Before Xu Xiangbei could say anything, he first introduced the identities of his subordinates, his tone carrying a threatening undertone, yet still leaving some room. Meanwhile, Huang Shiyong nearby wanted to say something but dared not, feeling a sense of oppression.
"Oh, they’re retired foreign mercenaries!" Xu Xiangbei said with a relaxed face, seemingly unaffected by the lurking murderous air. However, he remained vigilant at heart, knowing West Africa is one of the most chaotic places abroad, with daily deaths and constant wars, caused by religious and custom differences, making the region extremely disordered.
Those able to survive as mercenaries there are truly not simple, sensing their presence just by the aura they emit. At the same time, he couldn’t help but marvel internally at Jinshang KTV’s extensive background, able to employ such individuals.
The more Xu Xiangbei appeared indifferent, the more cautious Li Jie became, knowing ordinary folks would’ve already yielded under such pressure, not remaining as relaxed as Xu Xiangbei.
"This matter was initially stirred up by this President Huang. He harassed my girlfriend; I just came to settle the score with him. Is it really necessary for your KTV to intervene in guests’ personal matters?"
"Yes, we didn’t provoke him. It’s President Huang who started it first." Hu Qingyu gathered courage, squeezed through the crowd, stood before Xu Xiangbei, and Li Jie’s eyes lit up upon seeing Hu Qingyu, sensing her refreshing elegance.
"How about we let this matter go, after all, no one got hurt, right?" Li Jie saw that Xu Xiangbei wasn’t simple and didn’t want to exacerbate the situation, choosing to play the mediator.
"No, this matter cannot be just let go." Before Li Jie could finish, Huang Shiyong shouted loudly, as if he had suffered a great injustice, refusing to let go.
Li Jie also frowned slightly, disliking Huang Shiyong’s attitude, but said nothing, constrained by his influence and status.
"Oh, what do you intend to do then? Don’t cry like you did earlier!" Xu Xiangbei said, bursting into laughter, hitting a sore spot for Huang Shiyong.
"Ten million, if you let this guy leave Jinshang KTV lying down today, I’ll give each of you ten million." Huang Shiyong’s face trembled in anger, painfully offering his terms to the five bodyguards radiating murderous air.
"Manager Li," the bodyguards became restless; ten million is no small sum for anyone. They lived on the edge, risking their lives for roughly the same amount before.
"Alright, but this matter doesn’t concern Jinshang KTV. You handle it yourselves." Manager Li said, stepping aside, seemingly no longer involving himself in the matter. Although the subordinates worked for him, they were only collaborators.
He didn’t want to force them to do something that would cut off their monetary source. If he thwarted them, they might not say anything now, but over time, they would harbor grievances, potentially stabbing him in the back at a crucial moment.
The five muscle-bound men radiating murderous intent rolled up their sleeves, and a scar-faced man seemed to be their leader.
"12 million, each of us gets no less; I promise to leave him bedridden for life." He turned, with a sinister grin, speaking to Huang Shiyong.
Huang Shiyong wanted to say something but seeing the murderous aura engulfing him, then looking at Xu Xiangbei’s nonchalant eyes, gritted his teeth, and agreed.
