Chapter 596: He’s Back
Xu Xiangbei, that guy, really came back. Ding Keke laughed happily, and Xu Xiangbei’s handsome figure popped up in her mind.
A blush swept across her face, and she peeked into the nurse’s office and saw her colleague, Xiao Xia.
"Xiao Xia, could you cover for me? I have something urgent to deal with."
Xiao Xia was a pleasant girl, with a round face and refreshing short hair.
Xiao Xia had taken leave last week, and it was Ding Keke who covered for her; hearing that Ding Keke needed help, Xiao Xia agreed without hesitation.
"Sister Keke, no problem, go take care of your things, I’ve got it covered."
Ding Keke took a taxi to the Ouyang Family’s villa and immediately saw Xu Xiangbei’s silver Porsche parked outside.
She dialed Xu Xiangbei’s number: "I’m at the gate. Are you here?"
Xu Xiangbei chuckled, "My little darling, I’m here."
Amused by Xu Xiangbei, Ding Keke laughed playfully, "Don’t be so mushy, that’s annoying." Xu Xiangbei hummed a little tune and walked out of the Ouyang Family villa, seeing Keke at the gate.
She was still as elegant and pretty, with a fresh ponytail and wearing a blue floral dress, below which were her long, snow-white legs.
"My little darling, you’re here to pick me up. It’s been a while; did you miss me?"
Xu Xiangbei opened his arms, intending to hug Ding Keke warmly; Ding Keke laughed and avoided him.
Ding Keke extended her fair, slender fingers; she often helped others with injections and feeding, so she didn’t keep her nails long, trimming them neatly.
"Give me the keys."
Xu Xiangbei handed over the car keys obediently to Ding Keke: "You haven’t changed; you’re still as beautiful."
Ding Keke started the car, shifted gears, and pressed the accelerator. A shy blush appeared on her face: "I’m not very good at driving, you know."
Xu Xiangbei joked, "You’re not skilled at driving, yet you dare to drive me home?"
Ding Keke’s blush deepened, and there was a hint of grievance in her eyes. She hadn’t thought much about it; she just wanted to see Xu Xiangbei.
Since Xu Xiangbei went to Earth Sea, she lived alone in the spacious courtyard, feeling lonely because she was so busy with her nursing job, always understaffed, and constantly working overtime; she often forgot her loneliness.
But occasionally, when she had free time, Xu Xiangbei’s mischievous smile would pop into her head.
Seeing Xu Xiangbei again, her face felt hot, but luckily the night was deep, and the car interior dimly lit, so Xu Xiangbei couldn’t see her blushing.
She smiled faintly, "Just taking you home, not racing. Buckle your seatbelt."
"Where do you want me to take you?"
Xu Xiangbei smelled the faint scent on Ding Keke, like rich lilac, teasingly intoxicating.
Xu Xiangbei joked again, "Home, you silly girl, did you forget where our home is?"
Hearing Xu Xiangbei say "our home," Ding Keke felt joy and bashfulness, with a slight pout she playfully retorted, "What is that, it’s your house, okay? I’m just your tenant."
Seeing Ding Keke’s embarrassed, charming face, Xu Xiangbei laughed more deviously, "It’s your home too. It saves me saying much, just summarizing as our home because you’re overthinking it."
Ding Keke shook her head with a smile. This guy is always so unruly, but his unpretentiousness always makes one secretly like him, and never dislike him.
Though she liked him, she still said, "Annoying, you’re really making me dislike you more and more."
Xu Xiangbei didn’t care a bit and suddenly placed his hand on Ding Keke’s thigh, teasing, "Hey, am I really that annoying?"
Suddenly, Xu Xiangbei put his hand on Ding Keke’s thigh, feeling her skin smooth and soft, he couldn’t help but swallow.
Ding Keke pouted angrily, fiercely pinching the back of Xu Xiangbei’s hand, causing him to cry out in pain and quickly withdraw his hand.
Seeing Xu Xiangbei pull back his hand, Ding Keke triumphantly laughed, "Dare to act like a rogue with me, serves you right."
Xu Xiangbei laughed wickedly, "I had a bit too much to drink, couldn’t control myself."
Suddenly, a white Mercedes overtook them, not only failing to signal but cut abruptly into Ding Keke’s lane.
Startled, Ding Keke quickly steered the wheel and braked but still lightly brushed against the other car’s rear, causing a slight bump.
Ding Keke quickly pulled over, her heart pounding in fright.
The Mercedes also pulled over, sleek and new, not even registered yet.
From the car stepped four burly men, one with a big beard anxiously checking the rear for damage.
Seeing Keke’s fright, Xu Xiangbei angrily cursed, "What kind of driving is that? Suddenly changing lanes, these idiots. I’m going to give them a piece of my mind."
Knowing Xu Xiangbei had a temper, Ding Keke held his hand, comforting, "It’s fine, just a slight bump, don’t get mad."
Xu Xiangbei said, "It’s their fault; they changed lanes and cut in suddenly. They owe us money."
Xu Xiangbei and Ding Keke stepped out of the car, Xu Xiangbei pulling a cigarette from his pocket and lighting it, taking a drag.
The four burly men walked over aggressively, with eyes like bulls, enclosing Xu Xiangbei and Ding Keke in the center.
The scruffy bearded man, likely the owner, assertively said, "Kid, you rear-ended, did you know?"
Xu Xiangbei coldly laughed, "What rear-end? You switched lanes suddenly; it’s your fault."
The Big Beard rolled up his sleeves, ready for a fight: "You’re pretty cocky, huh? Rear-ended and still deny? Do you know how much my car costs?"
Xu Xiangbei pointed at the scratched paint on the front: "I don’t care how much your car costs; look carefully, mine’s a limited edition Porsche. I won’t ask much, just ten thousand from you."
The four men laughed heartily, looking at Xu Xiangbei with disdain, "Kid, you’ve got guts, asking us for money? You owe us ten thousand, did a donkey kick your head by mistake?"
Ding Keke got anxious wanting to speak up, but before she could, the big beard with a sly look swung a fist at Xu Xiangbei.
"Kid, you won’t pay me, and dare ask for money? Let me straighten your head."
Seeing their comrade, Big Beard, make a move, the other three gleefully anticipated Xu Xiangbei getting beaten up, hoping to see him bruised and battered.
Ding Keke covered her mouth in shock. She wasn’t worried about Xu Xiangbei getting hit but was concerned for Big Beard instead.
Big Beard’s fist stopped mere inches from Xu Xiangbei’s face.
Big Beard’s eyes widened; he noticed his wrist was caught by Xu Xiangbei.
