Chapter 139: Getting Started.
Leilani.
More gasps rang through the air, causing my smile to widen more and more... and more as we all watched how Chalice threw herself down the stairs that fateful day and blamed it all on me.
Just then, Gavin stumbled towards me, his eyes wide with worry and something that looked so much like regret as he grabbed my arm and whispered; "Leilani..."
"Don’t!" I snapped, interrupting him, "...don’t ruin the show."
"STOP! TURN THAT DAMN THING OFF!" Chalice yelled, and when no one would respond, she growled; "I am your LUNA! And I say turn it OFF!"
At the sound of that, a young warrior rushed forward but before he could go any further, Zevran and Kael growled; "LEAVE IT ON!"
Chalice gasped, her face crumbling as she stumbled closer to them. I watched her pathetic self as she grabbed their arms, crying hysterically as she cried; "Please, please... let them turn it off. I am your wife now... please!"
But they wouldn’t respond. They wouldn’t even look at her. Goddess, they both looked like statues with their stony faces now.
Caelum, on the other hand, was red faced and seething. His eyes snagged on Chalice’s face and for the first time since I’ve ever known him, he looked at her in the same way he used to look at me.
With hatred. With rage. With disgust.
Guess this marriage would be a big messy one after all!
Suddenly the screen went dark, and while everyone let out a sigh, probably thinking that it had all come to an end, I smirked and dropped my gaze, my heart swelling with pride when soon, Chalice’s moans filled the hall.
Then with it came the distinct sound of skin slapping against skin.
Ruckus broke out then as everyone watched in embarrassment as the stupid doctor shamelessly fucked her against his desk, his fingers digging into her skin as he rammed into her from behind.
My face flushed.
Eww no, that was not what I was expecting!
Now, Chalice’s face was bright red. Her body was slick with sweat and trembling. But that wasn’t what I wanted them to see. I quickly sent a text to one of the boys in charge of the projected images and asked him to rewind the video a little; and I smirked when he instantly did as told, making us watch as Chalice had asked the doctor to feign her illness.
Their conversation filled the hall only to dissolve and move to the next ’gift.’
The conversation between Chalice and I in the sauna. The one where she’d told me about the pregnancy.
A few more voice recording were played, exposing more of Chalice’s lies and by the time it was over, everyone was fully entertained—well besides my family, the triplets and Chalice herself.
"You lied about the first pregnancy?!" Now, it was Caelum who spoke first and I couldn’t help but notice the way his face had twisted into an expression so dark and grim, he almost looked like a contortionist.
Chalice staggered backwards, her eyes watering as she cried out; "No, I didn’t."
"You didn’t have GTD? or GSD? Gosh what was that nonsensical illness Dr Sebastian said you had?"
"Caelum please..." she sobbed, crashing to her knees. "This is all a lie! It was doctored by Leilani! I never lied to any of you!"
Her pathetic tears made me irritated in a way, especially since even in a moment like this, she was still so obsessed with me to the point of trying to blame it all on me.
I looked away from her only for my eyes to meet Kael’s. He didn’t say a word yet but the look in his eyes was enough. It said everything. He sighed;
"You didn’t push her in the sauna?" It was not a question but a statement. "She was never even pregnant and I... and we..." he drawled, his voice trailing off; And even though he didn’t finish that sentence, I already knew what he was about to say and I didn’t want to hear it.
"Did Sebastian lie because you fucked him?" Caelum’s voice thundered again from behind Kael and when Chalice still wouldn’t answer, he frowned deeply and let out his Alpha aura.
My eyes widened.
Goddess, he never used it. They never use it.. especially for someone they held close to their heart like Chalice.
Her body trembled violently as she lay flush on the floor, whimpering as he continued to force out his Alpha aura so much that everyone around was beginning to fall to their knees as well— well besides the other Alphas around...
—And me.
Wait... what?
What the fuck is happening to me? Why am
I not reacting to it?
I was however snapped out of my thoughts when Caelum’s deep voice rang out again, he growled; "Did Sebastian lie because you made him? Did you pay him to lie by sleeping with him?"
Chalice cried even harder, probably trying to fight off Caelum’s aura. But her strength was too weak. She whimpered; "Y-yes."
"Did you kill your grandmother and frame Leilani for it?"
"Y-yes."
"Oh my goodness! She’s such a monster!" Someone screamed from the back of the hall and I watched in fascination as everyone nodded in agreement.
The people who once used to dote on her now saw her for who she was. They were now as disgusted with her as I was. And that was minute compared to how much I wanted her to suffer.
Now, she was crying hysterically and I was enjoying the show. I folded my arms across my chest, reveling in the pleasure of seeing them so destabilised... so frustrated and distraught... so hurt.
"You were never pregnant the first time, were you?"
"No... I w-wasn’t."
"And are you pregnant now?"
"Y-yes."
"What other lie have you told against Leilani? What other thing have you done that we never got to know?" Zevran asked from behind Caelum but this time, she didn’t respond. She was no longer responding. She had gone limp.
Mother rushed forward to place a shaky hand against her back, and then she spun her around to place a finger under her nostrils, her eyes widening before she cried out; "She’s fainted!"
But no one moved.
Not me. Not the triplets. Not my estranged family, and certainly no one from the crowd.
"Somebody help, please!" Mother tried again but still no one moved an inch.
Her eyes finally fell on me and her face crumpled. She fell to her knees, clasped her hands together and dropped her head. "Leilani please..."
"What are you asking me for?" I asked smugly.
"Please help Chalice! Ask someone to help her!" She cried desperately and I could only glare at her because, goddess, what else could I do?
Yes, I wanted to smack her in the face. I wanted to spit on her face. I wanted to lash out at her, but right now, I didn’t. I couldn’t.
I shrugged instead and drawled; "No, mommy dearest, you’ll need to help her yourself. And as for me, I’d like to take my leave now."
"Leilani!"
"Leilani—"
My mother, Gavin and the triplets called out to me all at the same time and I frowned deeply before slowly turning to face them.
"What?"
"Leilani, please..." Caelum and Gavin began to say but before they could even get to talk, I waved my hand dismissively at them and drawled;
"This is just the beginning. For Chalice. Don’t think for one second that I wouldn’t come for the rest of you. You abused me. Tried to kill me and I was stigmatised for four years, bearing the load of a crime I never committed..."
It wasn’t until that moment that I turned to Mr Malakai Blackthorne— my father— and then I drawled; "You abused me the most, Beta Blackthorne. You plotted my death and when I went missing, you held a funeral in my name... so you all shouldn’t expect forgiveness. You should expect karma." I said, and with that, turned away from them to walk out of the hall, ignoring the way they all called out to me from behind.
But I didn’t stop.
I didn’t care.
I was just getting started.
