Fated To Three, Betrayed By All… Until She Rose.

Chapter 116: The pain of losing Grace

FIVE YEARS AGO.

Keisha had just started to rebel after discovering that she was part werewolf, part Lycan, and no matter what Jarek seemed to do, there seemed to be no pulling her from the abyss that she was so keen on throwing herself into.

She’d made friends with a few rogue Lycans. And because she’d been best friends with Grace, Grace had been the most worried about her, always cleaning up her messes and making sure she was safe.

On a fateful afternoon, Grace had suddenly packed up some medicines and rushed out of the house quickly because she’d heard that Keisha was in trouble.

Jarek, on the other hand, had just started attending meetings with his father so he wasn’t at home when this happened.

Upon his arrival, he learns about this and is worried because even until now, which was four hours since Grace was reported to have left the house, there were still no traces of any of them.

So in panic, he sets off to look for them, not ignoring the fact that he felt strange. His spirit was in a state of unrest and his wolf was wild, thrashing against the barriers of his body as if needing to be set free.

He’d forced Fenris back down, unwilling to shift, and after about 6 hours and still unable to find them, he was forced to deploy a search party,

Unsurprisingly, several hours later...

Keisha was found drunk to stupor with traces of cocaine and wolfsbane under her nostrils. Grace was found too but in a far different state.

She had been violently raped, beaten, drugged and stabbed several times in the stomach. And by the time they found her, she was all bloodied, ice cold and bruised... and she wasn’t breathing anymore.

She didn’t even have a pulse anymore.

She was gone.

Jarek could never forget the words that Keisha had said to him that day. Her face had been grim, completely ridden of any emotion as she seethed; "I told her to go home. I told her I didn’t want her to see me like this. She insisted on taking me home with her, and my friends dragged her away. I never bothered to look for her."

Those words had cut through him like a knife. He could never believe that his mate... that his twin sister’s best friend... could be so cruel.

Tears streamed down his face as he held tight to Keisha’s shoulders, gasping when she shrugged him off unceremoniously and rolled her eyes.

"Did you know that they would hurt her?" He asked softly, hoping— praying— that she was clueless about what they had planned to do to Grace, "...did you know that they would kill her?"

To his utmost horror, Keisha shrugged again, stopping to dust off some particles of cocaine left under her nose. She spat; "I knew that they would fuck her. I mean, I saw the way they looked at her like she was a tasty snack. I just never knew that they had such terrible fetishes!"

Jarek’s entire world had crashed under his feet. That was the first time his wolf ever acted up. It was the first time Fenris had gone on a rampage. He’d tracked down every one of them that had touched Grace and tore them apart limb for limb. But he was never satisfied.

While sometimes, he blamed his descent, or as his father would call it; his wolfing out, on the pain from being betrayed by his mate, he feared that it had everything to do with the pain of losing his twin— a pain that Keisha had been the sole proprietor of.

His family delved into the production of AI products in search of something—anything— to bring back their dead girl with.

His mother had died from extreme depression as she could no longer bear to live without her precious Grace.

And due to this pain, his father had insisted on leaving Grace’s body frozen for several years, desperate to bring her back to life.

But on the night Jarek’s father died from a cardiac infection, he’d buried his sister alongside him.

He’d watched his entire family go to dust for a single mistake... for one person’s carelessness. And he never forgave her, not because it was all her fault, but because he had loved her.

And he had continued to love her even after all this chaos, until she escaped the pack with the Lycan boy, Gerald.

BACK TO PRESENT:

... And now, Keisha wants him back?

She wants to make up for what he’s lost? His sister? His sanity?

Jarek’s hands balled into fists as he glared into the face he once used to love. The face of the woman he had hoped to spend an eternity with.

But right now, all her pretty face did to him was make him mad. So so mad.

Reigning his temper in, he dropped his head and whispered in a small voice; "I can’t move past what happened in the past, Keisha. Everyday, I live through the pain your actions caused me..." he stopped when his breath hitched. Even Keisha continued to cry uncontrollably.

Against his wish, his voice rose a few notches. His chest burned with anger and his hands trembled, not because he couldn’t control them, but because he could no longer control his rage anymore.

He spat; "I want us... need us... to break off the mate bond between us. So let me know when you’re ready to reject me because I’ll always be ready. Even now, I am."

"I won’t be ready, Jarek!" She cried, trembling violently. "I can never be ready because I love you so much!"

Hearing her say those words riled him up even further. He wanted to smack her so hard that she’d faint. He wanted to inflict her with so much pain... just as much as she had done to him. But he could not.

Because he’s always been a gentleman.

His parents, before their deaths, had made sure he was one.

So due to this, he took a deep breath and fixed her with the coldest glare there was, and drawled; "Fine then, I can live with that. Just don’t come asking for me until you’re ready... and be sure to know that henceforth, I’ll no longer be keeping myself. I’ll mate with a woman whether or not it affects you. Do you understand me?"

Keisha gasped, but before she could respond, he turned away and stormed off, leaving her bawling her eyes out.

Leaving her aching in the heart.

He didn’t spare her another glance, he didn’t even check to see the effects his words had on her as he stormed into the elevator.

Shortly afterwards, he got into his car and drove off; But with nowhere else to go, he found himself stopping just in front of Leilani’s house and freezing by her door because for some reason, he lacked the courage to knock.

And that was a first.
