Chapter 41 : Chapter 41
Chapter 41: The Top Three Gather at Blackwater High School
"What??"
The moment they heard the name Zhang Zhiwei, every school leader shot to their feet.
"It's Zhang Zhiwei, the one with the S-Grade talent!"
Before the teachers could even confirm it, Lin Yuya already knew what they wanted to ask.
So she shouted the answer directly.
"Let's go!"
Yin Changming barked in a low voice as he personally led the others downstairs.
Once they got down, they found that a huge ring of students had already gathered around the plaza at Blackwater High School.
And in the open space at the center, a tall, handsome, cold-faced young man stood there alone, straight as a pine.
It was Zhang Zhiwei.
He had a shoulder bag slung over one shoulder.
His gaze was fixed on the teaching building without the slightest distraction, allowing the surrounding students to whisper among themselves and shoot curious looks at him.
The school leaders pushed through the crowd and came up to him.
Only then did Zhang Zhiwei withdraw his gaze and look at them.
"Hello, Principal Yin. Hello, teachers."
Zhang Zhiwei bowed politely as he greeted them.
"Student Zhang Zhiwei, you want to..."
Even Yin Changming, as the principal of an entire school, did not know how to finish that sentence.
You want to transfer to our school?
If Zhang Zhiwei did not say those words himself, then if anyone else said them, they would be laughed at on the spot.
Anyone's first thought would be, What nonsense are you dreaming?
But Zhang Zhiwei simply unzipped the bag behind him and took out a document folder.
There was even a recommendation letter on top.
"Zhang Zhiwei, S-Grade talent, peak Second Grade Realm Martial Artist, applying to transfer to your school."
"I hope Principal Yin can give me a chance."
One of the school leaders quietly rubbed his eyes.
He simply could not believe he was actually awake.
Zhang Zhiwei, transferring to their school?
And even asking them to give him a chance?
Fortunately, Yin Changming did not lose his composure too badly.
It was not as though he had never dealt with geniuses before.
Wasn't Li Mu from his own school an even greater genius than Zhang Zhiwei?
And everyone present understood one thing perfectly clearly.
If Zhang Zhiwei was not joking and truly intended to transfer to Blackwater High School, then it could only be because of Li Mu.
Li Mu had saved his life.
And plenty of people had seen him say back then that he would definitely repay Li Mu.
Suppressing his excitement, Yin Changming took Zhang Zhiwei's file.
The file itself was just an academic record. There was nothing much to look at.
What mattered was the recommendation letter on top.
He was very curious to see who had written it.
Yin Changming opened the letter.
It was actually from Zhang Zhiwei's parents, the Zhang Group.
The Zhang Group stated that as long as Blackwater High School accepted Zhang Zhiwei, they would donate an A-Grade standard Training Arena.
Yin Changming nearly blacked out.
The Zhang Group was not stupid.
Zhang Zhiwei coming to Blackwater High School was already the kind of thing the school could never have dared even dream of asking for.
So why was the Zhang Group willing to donate this Training Arena?
There were three reasons.
First, to make sure the matter went through without the slightest problem.
Second, to show support for their son.
Third, to send a signal to the outside world.
The relationship between the Zhang Group and Blackwater High School...
For Blackwater High School, this was an enormous stroke of fortune beyond anything they would have dared dream of.
"Good! I agree! We welcome Student Zhang Zhiwei to our school!"
Yin Changming nodded heavily and reached out to shake Zhang Zhiwei's hand.
But at that moment, another commotion rose from the school gate.
Amid the shocked cries of Blackwater High School's students, a path opened through the crowd.
A towering figure, easily two meters tall, strode over.
He also had a tiny schoolbag slung over one shoulder, utterly mismatched with his size.
It even looked a little ridiculous.
"Lu Chenfeng!!"
The students of Blackwater High School cried out again in shock.
The newcomer was none other than Lu Chenfeng.
He strode right up to them.
Before he even arrived, he had already called out to Yin Changming,
"Oi! Hello, Principal Yin!!"
"I want to transfer here too. Can I be put in the same class as him?"
At the sight of this guy, the leaders of Blackwater High School all felt their vision go dark.
Another S-Grade talent!
Lu Chenfeng was much more straightforward than Zhang Zhiwei. He directly made it clear that he was here for Li Mu.
Before Yin Changming could answer, Lu Chenfeng casually glanced to the side and immediately spotted Zhang Zhiwei.
"Huh? So the spearman's here too?"
Zhang Zhiwei immediately gave him a speechless look.
The surrounding students were even more speechless than that.
An S-Grade talent with Golden Spears and Iron Steeds, and this guy was calling him the spearman?
"You two, come with me. I'm the director of the Student Records Office."
Old Ma was the first to recover his senses.
He stepped forward and proactively took the two students' transfer documents.
Unlike Yin Changming and the others, he was not thinking about so many things. His job was to bring people in.
With these two geniuses both asking to transfer in at once, what was there to stand around for?
Get it done quickly before they changed their minds.
Watching Zhang Zhiwei and Lu Chenfeng follow Old Ma away to handle the transfer procedures, the same thought rose in the hearts of Yin Changming and the others.
Li Mu
could no longer be described merely as a student of Blackwater High School.
He was the totem of Blackwater High School!
Just a few minutes earlier, this whole bunch of old men had still been sitting in the office sighing in despair.
They had wracked their brains and still could not solve the problem.
Li Mu himself was not even at school.
And yet because of him, every problem had now been effortlessly resolved.
Blackwater High School's resource ranking had been unfairly suppressed.
Blackwater High School had become a laughingstock.
Even Li Mu, the champion, had become a joke in the eyes of others.
For these two prodigies to transfer in at a time like this, they were obviously here to stand behind Li Mu.
What Yin Changming had not expected, however, was that this was only the beginning.
The news of Zhang Zhiwei and Lu Chenfeng transferring spread very quickly.
Less than half an hour later, a large wave of transfer students from Soaring Dragon Martial Academy arrived!
All of them declared that they wanted to transfer into Blackwater High School.
Blackwater High School erupted.
Meanwhile, in the principal's office of Saint Dragon Martial Academy,
the principal's assistant burst through the door in a hurry and strode quickly to the desk.
"Principal, something's happened!"
"Speak."
Principal Zhao Hong was bent over a document, not even looking up.
"Zhang Zhiwei filed for forced withdrawal and transferred to Blackwater High School!"
"What?"
Zhao Hong's brows instantly knotted as he stared at the assistant in disbelief.
"When did this happen?"
"Just now! I only checked Zhang Zhiwei's academic record after seeing the news first."
"Zhang Zhiwei directly dropped the contract termination paperwork and the penalty payment at the Academic Affairs Office."
The assistant put the news in front of the principal.
Bang!
After reading it, Zhao Hong slammed the desk and shot to his feet.
For ordinary students, transferring schools only required approval from both schools and a filing with the Ministry of Education.
But for someone like Zhang Zhiwei, an S-Grade talent, schools would often sign bilateral contracts in order to keep them.
The school would provide special resources, and the student would stay for a set length of time, and so on.
The resources Zhang Zhiwei had received were, of course, top-tier.
But the penalty for breaking the contract was even higher!
Zhao Hong could hardly believe that Zhang Zhiwei had actually dared to pay the penalty outright just to transfer away.
Although that amount of money truly meant nothing to the Zhang Group, why would they do it?
"Why? Why would Zhang Zhiwei do this?"
Zhao Hong roared in anger. He was venting, not aiming it at the assistant.
But the assistant's face changed several times in succession.
Naturally, that did not escape Zhao Hong's notice.
"You know something?"
The assistant swallowed hard.
"This may have something to do with the resource ranking."
"Blackwater High School only got seventeenth place in this resource ranking!"
Zhao Hong immediately felt his heart tighten.
"How could that be? Wasn't Blackwater High School's unofficial predetermined ranking supposed to be seventh??"
The assistant knew this matter could not be hidden.
Sooner or later, it would come out, so he might as well come clean now.
"It was... it was the young master. He had a conflict with Li Mu yesterday."
"And then he said he would make Blackwater High School's resource ranking drop!"
After hearing that, Zhao Hong felt his vision darken.
He very quickly pieced together the entire sequence of events.
His brother-in-law, in other words the maternal uncle by marriage of his son Zhao Yi, was one of the vice ministers in the Department of Resources.
To avoid suspicion, very few people knew about this connection.
Saint Dragon Martial Academy had reached its current position entirely because of that relationship.
It had been Zhao Hong's own arrangement that sent his son Zhao Yi to see Li Mu yesterday.
Although Li Mu had an F-Grade talent, he seemed to have some ties to the military.
So Zhao Hong had figured he could be useful, and sent his son to invite Li Mu to Saint Dragon Martial Academy.
After Zhao Yi came back yesterday, all he had said was that Li Mu had refused to come.
He had never mentioned any conflict between them!
Now that Zhao Hong thought about it, Zhao Yi must have called his aunt, the one who doted on him most, and asked her to back him up.
His aunt then pressured her husband, who secretly manipulated the resource ranking.
Just thinking a little about the possible consequences was enough to make Zhao Hong's bones turn cold.
In the best-case scenario, Saint Dragon Martial Academy had lost Zhang Zhiwei, a genius student, and its ranking would start to fall.
In the worst-case scenario, if the connection between him and his brother-in-law were exposed, then not only would Saint Dragon Martial Academy suffer,
his brother-in-law would be investigated as well.
At that point, it truly would be a catastrophe beyond redemption...
