Ch. 25
Chapter 25: Zhai Long Stabs Soaring Dragon Martial Academy in the Back
Yin Changming had suddenly been called out, and his whole body jolted on the spot.
“Here! Leader, I’m the principal of Blackwater High School, Yin Changming!”
Yin Changming immediately stepped forward two paces and came before the Deputy Minister of Resources.
Even the Deputy Minister of Education turned around to size Yin Changming up from head to toe, a warm smile appearing on his face.
“Come, come, tell me quickly about this student’s specific situation.”
The Deputy Minister of Resources at once pulled Yin Changming two steps closer.
What was the purpose of the Abyss opening battle?
To discover talent!
And after discovering talent, what came next?
To cultivate talent!
If the Ministry of Education and the Resources Department only cared about the quality of one’s talent, then what was the point of holding an Abyss opening battle at all?
If whoever had the best talent was simply cultivated, that method already existed.
The reason the Abyss opening battle was held was precisely for a second round of selection.
To sift out those martial artists whose talents were ordinary, yet who were truly powerful!
Otherwise, if you only had talent but did not dare to fight in real combat, and you held onto resources while doing nothing worthwhile with them, what use was that?
So even if someone like Sun Long could obtain resources in the early stage, over time, without any actual Abyss battle achievements, he would be eliminated sooner or later.
And not one of the big shots present was an ordinary person.
No one understood more clearly than they did just how terrifying Li Mu’s last strike had been.
A Second Grade martial artist had one-shot a Second Grade Golden-Hide Centipede head-on through its defensive mechanism.
No more needed to be said about what kind of strength that represented.
Although Li Mu was only in sixth place now, that did not stop him from standing out.
He already possessed extremely high cultivation value.
Yin Changming’s mind had turned to mush. Being dragged over into the midst of all those big shots, his heart had risen straight into his throat.
The thing he feared most had arrived. He barely knew anything about Li Mu at all.
He had only met Li Mu once, three days ago!
Just when he was at a complete loss, Zhang Teng, the principal of Soaring Dragon Martial Academy behind him, suddenly shouted, “That’s not right! This student is mine!”
He strode forward quickly and said excitedly, “Leaders, this Li Mu is from our Soaring Dragon Martial Academy.”
Yin Changming’s heart sank. Seeing that everyone was now looking at him, he could only nod deeply.
“Leaders, to speak frankly, Li Mu did indeed transfer to our school three days ago.”
“As for this matter... I was not aware of it either. How about this? I’ll have our head of student records come up.”
Zhang Teng wore an expression that plainly said, I told you so.
While Yin Changming was making his call, Zhang Teng also phoned his own student records office and dean’s office.
Before long, Blackwater’s head of student records, Li Mu’s homeroom teacher, and all the leaders from Soaring Dragon Martial Academy connected to Li Mu were present.
The big shots from the Ministries of Education and Resources all turned their heads to watch this dispute over talent.
Such things were extremely common, so no one found it absurd.
When Yin Changming questioned him, Old Ma, the head of student records at Blackwater, said in an exceptionally serious tone, “Li Mu did indeed transfer to our school three days ago. I personally handled his enrollment.”
“And Li Mu has an expulsion certificate from Soaring Dragon Martial Academy!”
“That’s bullshit!!” Zhang Teng suddenly roared, cutting him off.
Seeing that several of the big shots glared at him, he realized he had overreacted and lowered his voice again.
“Li Mu has always been a student of our school. He was never expelled. Where would an expulsion certificate come from?”
“It is clearly you people who forged documents and poached him in violation of the rules. Leaders, this matter must be thoroughly investigated.”
While Zhang Teng angrily tried to argue his way out of it, everyone present was looking at the people behind him.
The dean of discipline and vice principal of Soaring Dragon Martial Academy had already gone deathly pale and were covered in cold sweat.
Under that invisible pressure, the head of student records at Soaring Dragon Martial Academy raised his hand on his own initiative and reported, “Leaders, Principal, the expulsion certificate really was issued by me!”
The moment he heard that, Zhang Teng felt as though everything had gone black before his eyes.
“What?”
“It was Liang Hai! Dean Liang Hai called me that day and told me to expel Li Mu!”
“At the time, I even told him that such a matter needed to be reported to the principal, but he said it did not need to be!”
“I voluntarily admit my mistake. I was afraid of Director Liang’s power, so I directly issued the expulsion letter!”
With an attitude of sincere repentance, the head of student records spilled everything.
Liang Hai felt his legs go weak. Report me if you want, but what the hell do you mean by saying I have power??
Saying I have power in front of a whole group of big shots? Wasn’t that just asking to die??
Zhang Teng ground his teeth and glared at Liang Hai.
“You... why did you expel Li Mu?”
Liang Hai was already trembling slightly all over.
“I... Li Mu, he... severely injured a fellow student, refused to apologize, and showed no respect for his teachers.”
“I felt that the most important thing for a student was still character. No matter how strong he is, if his character is too bad, it also damages the school’s ethos.”
After all, he was a dean. Liang Hai delivered an official-sounding speech and barely managed to pull the situation back a little.
But just then, Li Mu’s former homeroom teacher, Zhai Long, suddenly raised his hand.
“Leaders, I was Li Mu’s former homeroom teacher. I know the circumstances behind the incident Director Liang just referred to, about seriously injuring a fellow student!”
“Li Mu’s older female cousin on his father’s side used to be the student council president. Under the pretense of arranging a sparring match, she had Li Mu fight an A-grade talent user from our school.”
“That A-grade talent user had seriously injured other sparring partners, while Li Mu only injured his face, giving him a slight punishment.”
“But Director Liang demanded that Li Mu apologize to that student. Li Mu refused, and in order to display his authority, Director Liang bypassed the principal and directly expelled Li Mu!”
“That very afternoon, I also reported the matter to the vice principal.”
“The vice principal knew about it, but told me the expulsion was for the best. He said our school should protect an A-grade talent user, and as for Li Mu, he was unimportant!”
“And the vice principal said he would expel me as well.”
“I’m done speaking!”
After saying that, Zhai Long stepped back half a pace, slightly lifted his chin, and wore an expression of contempt.
Having said all this, he knew very well that there was absolutely no way he could continue working at Soaring Dragon Martial Academy.
But so what? They expelled my student and gave me no explanation.
I have to vent this grudge!!
The entire place fell deathly silent...
The vice principal, who had just thought he had escaped disaster, had now clenched his back teeth so hard they were bleeding.
He hated Zhai Long to the bone!
You damn bastard, if you wanted to expose Liang Hai, then expose Liang Hai. Why the hell did you drag me into it too!?
Liang Hai, meanwhile, wanted nothing more than to devour Zhai Long alive!
As long as today’s matter could be proven to show that Li Mu had character problems, he could barely escape disaster.
So why did you have to jump out at a time like this!?
“Principal Zhang, it seems your discipline is somewhat lacking.”
“Let us continue watching the opening battle for now. Everything else can be discussed after it ends.”
The Deputy Minister of Education said this blandly, then turned his gaze back to the screen.
Everyone present inwardly observed a moment of silence for the people of Soaring Dragon Martial Academy.
Because in official circles, the harsher a leader scolded you, the lighter the punishment would usually be.
On the other hand, if the leader did not scold you at all, then you were truly in for bad luck.
Zhang Teng’s face had already turned ashen. After forcing a smiling nod, he withdrew.
When he looked at the other school leaders, his eyes seemed to want to tear them apart alive.
By contrast, over on Blackwater High School’s side, Yin Changming exchanged a glance with Old Ma and Zhao Qingshan, and all three saw an indescribable feeling in one another’s eyes.
Just then, the lights in the Multimedia Hall suddenly flickered, and the alarm beeped twice.
A martial artist squad ranked somewhere in the thirties suddenly leaped onto the largest main screen!
On the screen, four squad members were in a desperate fight against a powerful giant python!
A severed limb of one student martial artist lay on the ground, while the remaining squad members were all struggling terribly.
With a loud bang, the giant python’s tail viciously slammed one martial artist to the ground.
Taking advantage of his heavy injuries, it swallowed him whole in a single gulp. Even with the upper half of his body still in the python’s mouth, that martial artist let out a shrill scream.
In the next instant, he was swallowed alive!
The remaining squad members were scattered at once.
At the same time, the technology watches of all the students inside the screens transmitted an order from a military officer.
“All students participating in the Abyss opening battle, attention! A Yellow Rank, Third Grade ferocious beast has been discovered in the red zone, coordinates 358, 4972.”
“This level of ferocious beast is outside the scope of the assessment. All personnel, retreat immediately! Retreat immediately!!”
For a moment, every squad panicked, and a large number of teams that were just stepping into the red zone rapidly pulled back.
In all the screens, however, there were only three lone figures.
Instead of retreating, they began charging toward those coordinates.
