Chapter 8 : Chapter 8
Chapter 8: I Was Giving Instructions. I Didn’t Notice, and He Suddenly Attacked Me!
As Red-Hair spoke, he turned his sharp gaze toward the young man on the right.
Although the young man disliked the way he handled things, he could only nod.
There was no helping it. Red-Hair was the chief instructor for Blackwater High School this time, while the two of them were assistant instructors.
As the three of them spoke, a large wave of Blackwater High School students was already pouring in from the entrance.
The moment Li Mu saw that red-haired instructor from afar, his brows furrowed.
In the original owner’s memories, the discipline of the Abyss-Suppressing Army truly could not compare with the troops back in his homeland.
But he had not expected it to be this bad. They actually allowed someone to dye his hair red.
Still, Li Mu understood the situation as well.
The Abyss-Suppressing Army was desperately short on manpower.
Otherwise, that military officer would not have started trying to lure students into enlisting right in the middle of military training.
Once a forest grew large enough, all sorts of rot naturally appeared within it.
There were admirable senior martial artists who fought for the lights of countless homes, willing to shed their blood and die wrapped in horsehide.
But there would always be bad apples as well.
Dyeing one’s hair red did not necessarily make someone a bad apple, but judging from his expression alone, Li Mu could already tell he was no decent sort.
“Hurry up! Stop dawdling and stand properly, every last one of you!”
While the students were lining up, Red-Hair suddenly let out an angry roar.
Quite a few students were startled by it.
The students adjusted themselves at once and quickly stood steady.
But Red-Hair still narrowed his eyes, strode forward, and abruptly grabbed a male student by the hair, dragging him forcefully to the front.
After all, Red-Hair was still a member of the Abyss-Suppressing Army, and the students instinctively feared him a little.
He yanked the student’s head right up in front of his own face.
“Didn’t your mother ever teach you how to stand properly?”
As he spoke, he viciously swept a kick into the student’s thigh.
That student was only Yellow Rank, First Grade. Struck by a sweeping kick from a late-stage Second Grade martial artist, his entire body was smashed sideways to the ground. One could even hear the heavy thud of his head striking the floor!
At once, the student clutched his thigh and his head and let out a scream.
BANG!
Red-Hair slammed a foot hard onto the male student’s mouth and ground it there several times with force.
Gnashing his teeth, he snarled, “Do you know that Abyss monsters love the sound of screams like yours the most?”
Every student from Blackwater High School wore a look of fury.
They had heard long ago that the worse a school was, the worse the instructors assigned to it might be.
It was not that the Abyss-Suppressing Army did not take students seriously, but rather that their manpower was simply too scarce.
The best martial soldiers were all vital combat forces used in patrol and suppression missions.
Protecting the safety of the Abyss fortress always came first.
So some of the less outstanding martial soldiers were sent to serve as instructors instead.
As long as they taught properly, these martial artists were fully capable of serving as instructors.
Everyone had also heard that new recruits in the Abyss-Suppressing Army took plenty of beatings.
But we’re not new recruits. We’re not even your soldiers.
We’re students here for military training.
According to the regulations, an instructor can reprimand students, but he absolutely cannot beat them at will.
Much less for no reason at all.
When Red-Hair saw the expressions on the students’ faces, the anger within him flared even higher.
“What the fuck are you all looking at? With the pathetic state you pampered greenhouse flowers are in, you still want to challenge the Abyss?”
“You can’t even stand properly!”
As he spoke, Red-Hair swept another kick at a male student standing in the very front row.
Li Mu was in the first row as well.
As far as he could see, that male student’s posture was straight and upright, and he looked very alert and spirited.
He stood far more properly than Red-Hair himself, his bearing full of vigor.
Yet Red-Hair still drove a vicious kick into his thigh.
Just like the student before him, that boy did his best to resist, but was still swept off his feet and smashed heavily sideways onto the ground.
“Trash!”
“Trash!!”
Every time Red-Hair spat out an insult, he kicked down another male student who was still standing.
His blows grew heavier and heavier, and screams rang out everywhere.
At the same time, however, his eyes kept wandering over the prettier female students.
First, he wanted to see whether they had been frightened.
Second, he was picking out targets—pretty ones with good figures.
Very soon, he reached Li Mu.
A brutal kick swept straight toward Li Mu’s thigh.
Li Mu calmly stepped back and avoided the kick.
Red-Hair froze for a moment, then flew into a rage, glaring at Li Mu.
“Do you think you’re clever?”
“I came here for military training, not to be beaten.”
Li Mu spoke very calmly.
Behind him, all the students from Blackwater High School broke into a cold sweat for him.
Although it was indeed written in the rules that military training instructors could not beat students at will, they were still under someone else’s roof!
This was their territory.
Red-Hair laughed in anger. He was already filled with fury because of Zhao Meiting.
Once he had established his dominance here, he had planned to pick out a few female students and give them some “private training” alone.
Yet now a thorn had suddenly appeared and made him lose face in front of so many people.
Pointing word by word at the spot in front of him, Red-Hair said, “I told you to come! Stand! Right! Here!”
Li Mu smiled as well, but his smile was chilling.
“I’ll say it one last time. I came here for military training. If you dare swing that leg again, I’ll break it on the spot. I mean every word.”
“Hahaha… hahahahaha…”
Red-Hair laughed coldly from sheer rage, his laughter growing louder and louder.
Then his expression changed abruptly, and his right leg swept out with terrifying force.
His target was Li Mu’s thigh.
Li Mu reached beside his ear with his right hand, pulled something out, and drove it down violently into the ground!
CLANG!
The black iron staff struck the floor heavily, directly blocking the path of Red-Hair’s kick.
Caught off guard, Red-Hair smashed his shin into the long staff.
He was still a Second Grade martial artist after all. His aura surged abruptly, and his True Qi roared into motion.
Although he managed to kick the long staff away, the impact still left his shin in excruciating pain.
The surrounding students had already scattered with a whoosh, leaving a wide open space.
Using the long staff that had been kicked up by Red-Hair, Li Mu swung it in a full arc through midair and smashed it down at him.
From somewhere unknown, Red-Hair drew a long blade and hacked upward to meet the strike.
His True Qi surged wildly, and with that blade he violently knocked Li Mu’s staff aside.
The first strike failed to land, so Li Mu spun and swept out with a second strike.
It was too fast. Red-Hair barely managed to parry it.
Then Li Mu backhanded a third strike across.
When Red-Hair forcibly blocked that third strike, he felt a sudden explosion of pain in the web of his hand. It split open and began bleeding.
Only then did he realize that what Li Mu was using seemed to be the Flowing Cloud Triple Shock.
But it did not matter. The three strikes had already passed. There was no way Li Mu could possibly beat him.
What he did not expect was for Li Mu to unleash a fourth strike with even greater speed and force.
That fourth strike tore through the air with a shrill scream.
Red-Hair’s expression changed drastically. He raised both hands to block with his weapon, only to hear a crack as the long blade in his hands was smashed apart on the spot!
And what drove him into even deeper despair was that Li Mu, his face ice-cold, brought down a fifth strike.
The Fifth Shock of Flowing Cloud cut through the air like an afterimage!
Energy rippled wherever it passed, and even space seemed to wail.
Its target was his right leg.
“No!”
Red-Hair had no time to dodge at all. His weapon was already gone, and there was simply no way for him to block.
CRACK!
“AAAGH!!!”
Red-Hair’s knee broke at a grotesque angle, and he crashed to the ground on the spot.
Clutching his thigh, he rolled around on the floor.
His screams were utterly miserable.
Li Mu spun the staff through a rolling flourish, then WHOOSH—he tucked it back into his ear.
He had not come to another world just to swallow humiliation. Otherwise, what was even the point of awakening the Victorious Combat System?
As for punishment?
Heh.
Back on Earth, Li Mu had been nothing more than an invisible drudge.
Work, debt, illness, relationships—every single one of them had weighed him down until he could barely breathe.
If, after coming to this High-Martial World, he still could not live the way he wanted with this single wretched life of his—
Then he might as well go back and keep being a beast of burden there!
【Victory! Obtained Victory Points +31】
Meanwhile, the students of Blackwater High School were all utterly dumbfounded.
What… was this?
Were they dreaming, or what?
Military training!
Their classmate Li Mu!
A First Grade martial artist had broken the leg of an Abyss-Suppressing Army instructor who was a Second Grade martial artist!!
Not even in their wildest dreams had they ever imagined anything this insane!
As soon as the alarm rang out, a military officer quickly rushed over with several patrol guards.
The officer had sword-like brows and star-bright eyes, and even without showing anger, he radiated authority.
And the instant they saw the insignia on his shoulder, every single student from Blackwater High School fell silent!
Terror appeared on every face.
Some even began trembling in fear.
Who could have imagined that during ordinary military training, they would come into contact with an officer of Senior Wolf Guard rank?
Even their principal—
No, even the East District Director of Education of Ironhand City would have to speak politely to someone of that rank!
The moment the patrol guards took in the scene, they all tensed up.
“What happened here?”
the officer asked coldly.
By then, Red-Hair had already been hauled to his feet by the two assistant instructors. He was trembling all over from the pain, his face covered in tears and snot.
Looking at his twisted leg, he gnashed his teeth.
Then he pointed at Li Mu and wailed,
“Wolf Guard Qin! This student refused to obey orders and showed contempt for military discipline. I was in the middle of giving instructions, and he suddenly attacked me!”
