Chapter 539: End-of-Month Chat and a Call for Monthly Tickets
Okay, let’s talk about a recent plot point that a lot of people aren’t happy with: the one about Huangpu Yue also being a transmigrator.
A lot of readers love this book, and some of them really dislike the “double transmigration” trope. So, out of respect for those of you who haven’t resorted to cursing me out, I (Xiaodao) wanted to offer a brief explanation.
First off, Huangpu Yue’s identity was established from the very beginning of the story. I’m sure many of you have already figured that out.
Secondly, why create this character? Everyone knows about Ling Xiao’s identity—he’s a soul transmigrator who possessed someone else’s body. Huangpu Yue, on the other hand, was reborn as a baby. Her soul is complete!
Aside from cultivation, Ling Xiao’s past life was basically a blank slate, with nothing much to speak of. But Huangpu Yue had a rather brilliant life. You could say she had a good family background, looks, and education. If she had a choice, I doubt she would have wanted to come to this other world.
When the book first started, a reader figured this out and asked me if Huangpu Yue was a transmigrator. I gave him an affirmative answer. However, in response to his concerns, I also said that it wouldn’t affect the plot or its direction, and that I would do my best to downplay her identity as a transmigrator.
That’s why, up until now, the plot points regarding this have been intentionally ambiguous.
However, when it came to writing the chapter where her identity was revealed, I felt it was a natural development. The truth is, Huangpu Yue has liked Ling Xiao for many years and could never let him go. It’s not about Ling Xiao having multiple wives and concubines. You have to remember, before she transmigrated, Huangpu Yue was the daughter of a powerful and wealthy family. In some of those elite circles, it’s common for men to have several wives. I have real-life examples of this. Never mind the tycoons in Hong Kong and Macau; several of the billionaires I know personally have mistresses. I’m sure anyone with a bit of life experience knows this is true.
Huangpu Yue’s obsession was her inability to let go of the past! Or, to put it another way, she never truly accepted this new world. It wasn’t until Ling Xiao reappeared before her after three years that she finally had a breakthrough. More than twenty years have passed—what good would it do to keep holding on? Her soul, which doesn’t belong to this world, only feels a sense of ease when she is with Ling Xiao!
So, she told him.
As for some of my thoughts on creating this character: Ling Xiao is a business idiot, you could say. But Huangpu Yue is a business genius!
We’re actually only about one-third of the way through the book. The framework is massive, and Ling Xiao needs a powerful team supporting him from behind! He can’t just keep fighting alone!
This way, in the future, when many of them enter the Holy Sanctuary and have to face those major powers, Ling Xiao will also need strong financial backing!
Although the Holy Sanctuary is mostly filled with Cultivators, there are plenty of people with a talent for business. So how can we highlight Ling Xiao’s advantage? Only through the myriad and bizarre marketing techniques of the modern world!
And in that regard, Huangpu Yue’s role becomes apparent!
Furthermore, her existence will have an immeasurable effect on helping Ling Xiao achieve a breakthrough in his mental state!
Besides, I’ve always tried to downplay the unpleasant feeling that this “double transmigration” setup can cause. I’m sure readers who truly love this book can see that I haven’t wasted a lot of ink on it. I’m not doing it now, and I won’t in the future.
That chapter clarifying her identity was simply to allow Ling Xiao to break through to the next level of his cultivation!
In the future, when I write about Huangpu Yue, I’ll just focus on her brilliant mind, which will feel natural and not abrupt.
The explanation above is offered with the utmost sincerity to the many readers who like me, Xiaodao, and like *Proud Sword Soaring Clouds*.
As for the many insults and personal attacks, I ignore them. The ones who motivate me to keep writing are not you foul-mouthed, ill-mannered people.
At the same time, I want to give a huge thank you to all the friends who have encouraged and supported me over the past couple of days. I won’t list you all by name, but suffice it to say, I’ve seen all your words and taken them to heart. Thank you!
I’m truly grateful. Without your support, *Proud Sword* wouldn’t have achieved what it has! And I certainly wouldn’t be able to make a living.
Finally, it’s the end of the month, so I’m calling for monthly tickets! The upcoming plot will be very exciting, and I’ll do my best to make it even more so!
A lot of people want me to do a chapter burst, but I honestly don’t have it in me. Writing 10,000 characters a day is already something I have to grit my teeth to get through. I’m not kidding!
So, I hope my persistence and sincerity can move you. Heh, please cast your monthly tickets for me, and let all those who are jealous, sarcastic, and abusive go to hell.
