Chapter 254: Unknown Haunt
Unknown POV
He’s dead.
We are both similar. Like ghosts, we exist amongst humans yet we don’t exist.
You don’t see us till we choose to hunt you.
The ghost I am haunting lives in a perfect place for people like us. Quiet neighborhood. Uncaring old neighbors. Tired dogs and retired security men.
This is the least likely place to look for a public enemy.
My footsteps are quiet against the granite block floor.
There are only a few people who bother to look up at me. I dressed like every office man. White shirt, red tie, and black pants.
Some of the people smile at me, some scowl in my direction, while some turn their heads to gossip about the scar on my face.
It used to be uglier. A burn scar that had eaten half of my face off, but a visit to the doctor and a few reworking later, I look like a new man.
I feel like a new man.
"Hello stranger! Are you looking for someone?" a woman asks.
She looks to be at least sixty years of age. It is clear that she can’t see me, she has no glasses and her eyes are squinting as she smiles brightly at me.
"Yes! Hello" I say in a local dialect, the one that disarms many people.
’This stranger is from a small town, he must be kind’, yes, that dialect.
"You’re from that River side village?" she asks with delight and I laugh. They like it when you laugh in a loud and hearty manner.
The theatrics comes naturally as I throw my head back and place my two hands on my stomach.
"My wife was from there" I tell her and she claps happily.
"You must really love your wife. Aigoo, I have been married to mine for forty-three years and my husband doesn’t know how to say a word in my dialect" she shakes her head.
"Isn’t that a pity?" I speak.
"Truly is. We barely get interesting people here, the only young person around is that coffee boy" she points at a house down the road.
I found you, Ghost.
"He doesn’t talk to anyone, aigoo. Kids are too shy now adays, all he does is stay in his house and once in a while, he goes around in his car" she says.
I don’t need all of this information.
Ghost, your neighborhood is a smart yet useless choice.
"I would have my granddaughter marry him, but he will bore her to death!" she laughs again and I join her.
"By chance...is his name, Hanbin?" I ask and she gasps.
"That’s right! You must be his uncle, you’re too young looking to be father" she jokes and I give her a deep bow.
My surgery worked too well. It took away most of my scars and partially reduced my age.
"Aigoo, thank you" I bow again and she waves me away.
I head for the target home.
I unlock it too easily with the pins in my pocket. The outside looks like an ordinary elderly citizen’s home, but the inside is different.
There are high-class security devices. Two heavy duty computers. There are many tables and only one chair with bottles of beer lined up.
From the corner of my glasses, I catch the reflection of the beeping red light of a camera. Good.
His security is weak and firm at the same time.
I walk to the camera, stare at it before slowly smile at it.
"Come back home. I have to see you; I have work for you" I say and throw a bottle of beer at it.
The bottle shatters, bringing down the camera.
He will be back soon, I know he would be alerted that his space has been invaded. That’s exactly what I want..
He is talking about Seoha.
He grew up well. He wasn’t wanted but now, he’s like a flashlight that can’t be ignored.
Patiently, I sit on the only chair in his living area. I don’t search through his devices, Ghost would be too smart to have the information I need on a device.
In less than forty minutes, he breaks into the house with a bat in his hand.
"I’m going to kill you!" he runs towards me, but I don’t give him the chance to hit me. Standing still, I hold up my bait, a video of his mother in my house.
Everyone becomes a simple fish when the right worm is on the hook.
"You" he hisses and I nod slowly.
"It is I" I say.
"I’m still going to kill you"
"You know you can’t, Hanbin...or should I refer to you as Ghost?" I ask him. I put off the phone and slide it into my front pocket.
"You know your mother needs me" I say and he growls. He looks dirty and sweaty from hours of work.
"You bastard" he spits out.
"You know why I’m here" I go straight to the point, crossing my legs and leaning back in the uncomfortable single sitter.
"You will never find him" he says and I laugh.
"I already have. His lawyer did a great job at telling me all I needed to know. It’s a shame his new...keeper, is paranoid and keeps him well hidden" I click my tongue and push my glasses up.
"Taesan is his mate, not his keeper" Hanbin says and I sigh.
It doesn’t matter. Whatever they have is about to end. I’m here now.
"I want him" I say and shake my head, "no, I need him" I announce and Hanbin stumbles backwards.
"You’ll never find him" snarls, and as if it just dawns on him, his dull eyes widen.
"How did you find me?"
"In the same way no one can find you" I answer. The response is vague, but it means we are the same.
"You learned from the best, didn’t you?" I ask, dropping the easy expression for a more serious one.
"Now tell me, where is Seoha?"
"He’s long gone and far away from you" Hanbin says and sigh loudly.
"Does he know you brought this on him?"
"What are you talking about? I’ve done nothing but protect my brother!" he raises his voice in rage.
"He needs me" I roar at him.
"I am the only one that can save him. You let him waltz into the hands of those Kang beast, and only I can save him before it’s too late" I yell, getting out of the chair and pushing at his chest.
I know where he is, but because of that bastard Kang, I can’t take him yet.
"Now tell me. Where exactly is Seoha, how can I access him?" I ask.
