Chapter 37 : Chapter 37
Chapter 37: A’gui the Angler
After accepting the Skeleton Horse Bridle, Tian Ye did not intend to use it himself. Instead, he planned to sell it.
He had already decided on the buyer.
It would be none other than their Commander, Liao Chen.
Liao Chen had once said that he would pay five million for a mount, preferably one that looked sufficiently stylish.
The Skeleton Horse happened to fit the bill perfectly.
“Oh, right. The city may not be very peaceful lately. If there is nothing important, it would be best not to go alone to unfamiliar places.”
Before leaving, Tian Ye gave him that reminder.
“Understood.”
Lin Yuan took those words to heart.
This world was not nearly as peaceful as it appeared on the surface.
The invasions of Dungeons were merely the dangers that stood openly in the light.
In the shadows of Blue Star, there were also no small number of organizations bent on destroying the world.
Some of them worshiped evil gods and wanted to use these people to bring the monsters of the Dungeons down upon Blue Star.
Others dreamed of unifying Blue Star and establishing an empire ruled by Class-Holders,
reducing ordinary people to slaves, to be exploited and trampled upon at will by Class-Holders.
Tian Ye was burdened with official duties.
After reminding Lin Yuan of this, he departed.
Now left to himself, Lin Yuan planned to stroll around the residential complex for a bit.
As the foremost villa district in all of Tianfeng City,
Longding Residential Complex possessed excellent facilities and a beautiful environment.
On the eastern side of the neighborhood was a lake.
Dozens of kinds of fish had been stocked in it,
and many swans nested upon its waters.
By the lakeside, several fishing enthusiasts sat together chatting idly.
A middle-aged man in blue set down his phone and said to those beside him,
“Did you see the Class-Holder Forum today? Someone cleared Nightmare Difficulty Skeleton Graveyard.”
“Really? Which guild’s progression squad was it? The difficulty of Skeleton Graveyard is no joke.”
A yellow-haired youth looked rather surprised.
“Was it Dawn Sword Guild? I heard the progression squad they raised took the first kill of Nightmare Difficulty Goblin Forest a month ago.”
“No, not them.” An old man in a security uniform, his face lined with wrinkles, shook his head.
“With their team’s level, at best they can only survive the first five waves of attacks. By the sixth, they’d be dead.”
“Then which guild was it?” the yellow-haired youth asked.
“It wasn’t a guild,” the middle-aged man in blue replied after a brief pause, his expression turning more astonished. “It was an unaffiliated class-holder.”
“And on top of that, it was only one person.”
“Solo-clearing Nightmare Difficulty Skeleton Graveyard?” The yellow-haired youth was overjoyed. “Was it an SSS-Rank talent holder?”
“That person doesn’t belong to any guild, right? Then my Xianglong Guild is taking him.”
“Cui Xianglong, what nonsense are you spouting?” the middle-aged man in blue retorted. “With the size of your Xianglong Guild, there’s no way you can contain a true dragon like that.”
“Lin Yandong, are you looking down on me?” The yellow-haired youth—who was none other than Cui Xianglong—folded his arms, slightly displeased.
“If my Xianglong Guild isn’t qualified, then which guild in Tianfeng City is?”
“You?” Lin Yandong let out a dismissive snort. “A Level 46 Sanda Fighter?”
“As far as I know, that fellow Cheng Feng has already gone to him, and the price he offered isn’t low, either.”
“Your Xianglong Guild may be number one in Tianfeng City, but compared with Jingdu University, you’re still far behind.”
“Damn, that old Cheng really moved fast.” Cui Xianglong’s face fell. He turned around and faced the lake.
With a forceful swing of his arm, he cast his fishing rod far out.
“Finding a promising new talent really is difficult.”
“Oh, come now. Do you think I don’t know you’ve already cultivated an elite team made up entirely of S-Rank talents?”
“The captain, Xue Bin, even possesses the rare SS-Rank Caster talent.”
“You sent them to the neighboring city of Shanhe to compete with the geniuses of the provincial capital.”
“I heard they even stole the first kill of a Level 15 Nightmare Difficulty Dungeon.”
Lin Yandong smiled as he exposed Cui Xianglong’s little secret.
“President Lin truly has sharp eyes. As expected, nothing can be hidden from you.” Cui Xianglong laughed heartily, his expression carrying more than a little pride.
At that moment,
Lin Yuan arrived at the lakeside again, bringing Ali and A’gui with him.
He had already come by once just now,
and after seeing how many fish and swans there were in the lake,
he had gone back to the villa to fetch some things.
After setting down the charcoal and the barbecue tools,
Lin Yuan pointed toward the swans and fish in the distance.
“Ali, go bring me two fat geese from over there.”
“A’gui, go catch some fish.”
Without a word, Ali walked toward the flock of swans and returned with two plump swans—well, geese.
Once the swans were laid before him, Lin Yuan was dumbfounded.
He did not know how to prepare them.
Turning to look at Ali, he found Ali standing there with his arms folded,
shaking his head.
Killing geese was fine.
Cooking them was not.
His hands only knew how to hold a sword and play music.
Lin Yuan’s mouth twitched slightly.
Fine, then. A noble musician indeed.
Wonderful.
Now he had the geese, but no one to prepare them.
What was he supposed to do?
He took out his phone and called Sun Xu.
“Brother Lin, I just got out of the Dungeon. What is it?”
“I got two geese. We’re roasting them for lunch today. The lakeside in the villa district. Get over here quickly!”
Lin Yuan got straight to the point.
“Got it. I’ll be right back.”
On the other end of the line, Sun Xu immediately began apologizing profusely.
“Oh, my dear ladies, let’s call it here for today. My Brother Lin needs me for something.”
“It’s not that I can’t last. I truly do have business to attend to.”
“Another day, another day for sure. We’ll make it last all day, and I’ll satisfy all four of you.”
Lin Yuan: ...
Damn it, that lecherous bastard.
He was spewing dirty jokes all day long.
Anyone who heard him would think he was in some gentleman’s club.
Twenty minutes later, Sun Xu arrived at the lakeside carrying bags and bundles of seasonings.
He looked at the swans on the ground, then glanced at the lake.
His expression turned a little hesitant.
“Brother Lin, these...”
“I bought these two geese outside. Is there a problem?”
“No problem.”
Sun Xu took a simple portable stove out of his backpack.
A large iron pot sat atop it, and every kind of kitchen utensil one could want was neatly prepared.
“You really came fully equipped. And you still say you don’t want to class-change into a Chef.” Lin Yuan teased from the side.
“Ah, cooking is my hobby. But once it becomes a profession, it’s different.”
Sun Xu set a pot of water to boil and skillfully cleaned the geese.
“Right now, I cook for myself. I make whatever I feel like eating.”
“But once I class-change into a life class like Chef, then I’ll only be cooking for other people.”
“How could that compare to how carefree I am now?”
Sun Xu’s hands were extremely quick. Before long, one goose had already been chopped up and thrown into the pot.
The broth bubbled merrily, releasing a rich fragrance.
“This swan—no, this goose—really is best when stewed.”
“Today we’ll do one goose in two ways. First, an iron-pot stewed goose, and then a roast goose.”
Lin Yuan leaned closer to the stove and waved the aroma toward his nose.
Good heavens.
It smelled incredible.
But when the goose was finally almost ready to be served, Lin Yuan suddenly remembered something.
Where had A’gui gone?
He had only been told to catch fish, and nearly an hour had already passed.
Even if he had gone to the market to buy fish, he should have been back by now.
Lin Yuan craned his neck and looked around.
He found A’gui sitting among the group of anglers.
A’gui was sitting right beside Lin Yandong, actually holding a fishing rod and fishing.
And the important part was this:
if he were merely fishing, that would have been one thing.
But every so often he would also let out that eerie, cackling laugh.
How could he possibly catch any fish like that?
