Chapter 1236 - 1235: Fully Armed Twin Peak Beast
During dinner, both tribes provided enough food to ensure the orcs who had gone out hunting could fill their bellies and recover their strength for better hunting.
Early the next morning, Ji Nuan took Maomao and several others to the entrance of the tribe, only to find that the heavy snow had buried half of the previously precarious stone gate.
Ji Nuan and Xiu Yan both sat on Maomao’s back, with the snow reaching up to Maomao’s thighs, and even its soft belly was brushing against the snow.
Xiu Yan flew back to fetch some beast skins and wrapped them around their bellies to insulate them from the cold snow.
Seeing the fully armored double-humped beasts, the old Shaman, Chief Hasa, and Harry all looked on enviously.
The surrounding orcs glanced at the beast skins wrapped on the double-humped beasts, then back at the ones on themselves, feeling a little disheartened...
Not quite on par with the wild beast series, huh~
The Sahara Tribe’s destination this time was a depressed sandy area some distance away from the oasis. That place was the territory of a group of Firebirds, marked by the tribe’s orcs even before the dry season had arrived.
The tall and sturdy double-humped beasts advanced in pairs, opening up a path for the orcs behind them.
Ji Nuan had them alternate positions and occasionally fed them some diluted Fire Seed Fruit Water.
With Maomao and the others showcasing endurance far beyond ordinary beasts, the group of orcs finally arrived at the massive sandpit near noon.
However, the sandpit was now covered with heavy snow. Fortunately, the orcs who had scouted earlier had marked the Firebird’s cave.
That helped the group find the correct direction.
"Chief, it’s right under this withered tree. I was afraid we wouldn’t find it, so I moved this tree here," an orc explained.
Hasa patted the orc’s shoulder. "Well done."
Receiving the Clan Leader’s praise, the orc chuckled and scratched his head. "If we dig down along this big tree, we’ll find the Firebird’s cave."
Hasa stood up and looked at the fully prepared orcs behind him. "Tribesmen, our females and families are waiting for us to bring back food. This hunt must succeed, not fail. Now dig!"
The orcs charged forward, swinging their sharp claws to rapidly clear away the snow and sand.
As they dug deeper, a large opening appeared below, and the sound emanating from within was all too familiar—it was the cries of Firebirds.
Ji Nuan sat on Maomao’s back, filled with curiosity. Was this her first time seeing a creature called a bird that actually lived in underground caves?
As the orcs continued to dig, the cries of the Firebirds within became increasingly harrowing.
Soon, a flock of fiery red Firebirds burst out from the cave and started attacking the surrounding orcs.
Maomao and its companions had already retreated to a safer distance.
Xiu Yan held Ji Nuan and flapped his wings, lifting them into the air.
Perhaps it was the motivating effect of Chief Hasa’s earlier words, or perhaps the enticement of food had filled the orcs with fervor.
The Firebirds that had just charged out of the cave were swiftly taken down by the orcs.
Their corpses were piled on the snow not far away.
The blood flowed into the snow, melting the surrounding area.
The orcs continued digging into the Firebird’s cave.
Hearing the commotion, the remaining Firebirds seemed to go all out this time. Suddenly, a fiery red flood burst forth from the cave entrance.
These were the Firebird Beasts inside the cave. The Firebirds that had emerged earlier were already engaged in combat with the orcs, yet more Firebirds continued to pour out from the depths of the cave.
