Chapter 1044 - 1043: Too Honest
The old priest sighed as he looked at the orc standing before him, Gui Zhuangzhuang was good in every aspect, just too honest.
"Uh-huh, in a few days we’ll go see Shaman Ji Nuan. You, being a Clan Leader, really should be more thoughtful. If Shaman Ji Nuan doesn’t say anything, can’t you see it for yourself?"
Gui Zhuangzhuang blushed.
At dinner time, most of the Tortoise Orcs returned to the communal refuge in the cave.
Except for the old priest, the Clan Leader, and some particularly strong orcs who reinforced the cave with stones to prevent it from collapsing, the rest of the tribe’s caves were no longer inhabitable.
They could only wait until Tortoise Island, ravaged by the storm, was cleared before rebuilding.
At this moment, the Watson Tribe’s camp ceased the salt production temporarily because they needed to dig caves.
The evolutionary orcs had claws that were sharper than those of ordinary orcs, and the caves in the camp were more like communal dormitories.
Thus, the orcs wanting to live together formed teams, each digging their own space.
Ji Nuan stood not far away, watching as Xiu Yan turned his defined large hand into a claw, and after a flurry of clawing, a depression of nearly one meter in depth appeared on the hard rock wall.
Ji Nuan stroked his chin, wordless.
Next time he got a Beast God Fruit, he definitely had to eat another one, to see if he could also transform into such badass claws.
At dinner time, the cave of Ji Nuan and Xiu Yan was completed. Although the inside of the cave had not yet been carefully polished to be smooth, there were no problems living there for tonight.
Looking at the spacious cave, Ji Nuan suddenly remembered when he had just been reborn into this body, the large and beautiful cave his deceased father and mother had left him.
But due to the reduction of game and the Beast Wave, they had no choice but to abandon it in the end.
Compared to that, this cave was a bit smaller, but if it was just for living, it was enough.
A room of about fifty square meters, Ji Nuan had Xiu Yan dig it into two compartments, front and back; if a beast came, they could be entertained in the front little living room.
The little compartment inside could then be arranged as their bedroom.
They would continue to make salt during the winter, and the cave, unlike a house, was darker and more humid.
Ji Nuan still had to build a heated brick bed for warmth.
For the experienced orcs, setting up a heated brick bed was a minor task, hardly more difficult than catching a Long-eared Beast.
Even the chimney that led outside from the cave, as mentioned by Ji Nuan, was perfected by Xiu Yan.
Inside the heated brick bed, there was a chimney as thick as Ji Nuan could hug with both arms, made of bricks and connected by a very sturdy segmented tree.
Xiu Yan made a hole just the right size above the cave entrance, and the segmented tree connected to the chimney passed through it.
Even to prevent draughts, the orc meticulously sealed the surrounding gaps with green clay.
After drying and then roasting with fire, by the time the brick bed was ready to be slept on, Ji Nuan and the others were already set to depart for the big trading conference.
For the next few days, although they couldn’t sleep on the brick bed yet, Ji Nuan had already prepared everything for it.
Mats made from the segmented tree, with a layer of Beast Skin on top, heated the brick bed in the afternoons, and by nightfall, when the fire died down, the temperature was not too high, and the dampness on the bed was gone, making for an incredibly comfortable sleep.
However, after one night of comfortable sleep on the heated bed, Bosson stayed behind to continue overseeing the tribesfolk as they made salt.
