Chapter 887 - 886: Hesitant and Procrastinating
"Lucky it’s the cold season now," he said. "If it were any other time and Shaman Ji Nuan knew you were dilly-dallying here over these matters, he would surely be utterly disappointed in you."
The old shaman stroked his little mustache with a look of frustration as he regarded Xiong Da.
Chastened by the shaman’s words, Xiong Da couldn’t help but blush with shame.
Just as the shaman had said, they had joined the Watson Tribe to provide their people with a better life.
It wasn’t Shaman Ji Nuan who had pleaded with them to go, so they needed to have their own attitude first. If they hesitated over their people’s uncertainties, Shaman Ji Nuan would indeed be very disappointed in them.
Having realized this, Clan Leader Xiong Da no longer fixated on the idea of taking all of his people to the Watson Tribe.
Each tribe member had their own choice; he couldn’t force anyone, even as the Clan Leader of the Gray Bear Tribe.
The next day, Xiong Da arrived at the previous cave with Xiong Jiang and a few younger orcs.
Seeing them enter, the tribal members inside thought they had given up on the idea of joining the Watson Tribe.
However, they were surprised when Xiong Da proposed a separation—those who wished to join the Watson Tribe should follow him, and those who didn’t could stay. He wouldn’t insist.
Xiong Da also noticed the fleeting excitement on Xiong Ji’s face, but he acted as if he hadn’t seen a thing.
"Uncle Xiong Ji," he said, "in these next few days, if there are any tribe members who want to join us in the Watson Tribe, I hope you won’t stop them. Let them come over."
Xiong Ji understood Xiong Da’s intentions. Thinking of how, after Xiong Da had left, the vast Gray Bear Tribal Territory would be under his lead, he felt a surge of joy and excitement so intense, he wished he could run out and howl right there and then.
So, without a second thought, he agreed to Xiong Da’s conditions.
At this moment, their thoughts aligned surprisingly in unison. Regarding those who were unwilling to follow, both adopted a laissez-faire attitude.
"Come if you love, stay if you don’t," he thought, leaving the choice completely in the hands of the tribe members.
Shortly after, he returned to his cave with Xiong Jiang and a few other orcs.
Over the following period, a few more orcs arrived with their families and the items they had divided amongst themselves to join Clan Leader Xiong Da.
Meanwhile, the Dashi Tribe was filled with joy. As the cold season passed day by day, the anticipation in the tribe members’ hearts grew increasingly intense.
Frequently, tribe members would go to the shaman and ask when the cold season would end, as they had packed up their things and wanted to build their new houses earlier.
The shaman’s reply was quite powerful: he simply had Shi Jie throw those pesky whelps who kept bothering him out.
They shivered a few times in the cold wind and didn’t dare to disturb the fierce shaman anymore.
And so, the days of the cold season went by one by one.
When the first drop of rain fell, it marked the official end of this cold season.
Ji Nuan watched the rain pouring outside, the damp air hitting her face, the fresh scent unspeakably refreshing.
"Tsk, this cold season has finally ended."
Wrapped in a thick beast skin cloak, she stood in the corridor outside her bedroom and stretched her delicate paws into the rain.
The raindrops hurt as they hit her hands and arms.
"What are you doing?" he asked. "Don’t you know it’s cold?"
Xiu Yan stepped forward and pulled the heedless female into his embrace.
