Chapter 850 - 849, I’m Back
The pitch-black little snake flickered its tongue, "Isn’t it the case though? Flying straight over the forest and hills directly from the sky, surely that’s faster than your crawling on the ground?"
Dubi sneered with disdain, "At least my crawling is faster than your slithering."
She Ze instantly bristled upon hearing this, of course, under the assumption that he, a black rock python, had any fur to bristle: "I am swimming, swimming!"
The pitch-black little crocodile tossed its head: "Hmph~"
Ying Yan, whose head ached from the bickering between the two beasts, tightened his talons, and both She Ze and Dubi let out a piteous cry.
"Ow~ Ying Yan, what are you doing, are you trying to crush a beast to death?"
The little crocodile wisely retracted its head, saying nothing, and discreetly settled down, dangling its four stubby legs passively.
The creatures made their way to the Watson Tribe, and by the time they arrived, it was already time for the evening meal.
Crossing the suspension bridge into the heart of the Tribe, the air was filled with the delicious aroma of food that made the creatures swallow hard.
"Ah, it smells so good, none of the food elsewhere is as delectable as our Watson Tribe’s," exclaimed She Ze, having shifted back into orc form, as he drooled with desire in his eyes.
Ya Li descended the steps from the city wall, lazily leaning against it: "Hurry back, the food at home is ready."
Then, looking at Dubi who appeared somewhat haggard: "Your partner and cub are in your house, you should go straight there."
Dubi nodded gratefully and, without bothering with She Ze and the other creatures who had brought him back, dashed towards the familiar place.
After all, it was where he had lived for a while. Although all the houses looked alike, Dubi was still able to locate his own amid the many.
He tugged at his beast skin clothes and carefully combed his messy hair, then cautiously approached the wide-open doorway.
"Cub, come and eat some delicious food, look at this, it’s the steamed egg Grandma made for you."
Chang Zao’s voice floated from the yard, and Dubi’s eyes immediately turned red; tears began to stream down his cheeks in an instant.
"Ow ow~ Ah ow~" came the soft, mushy voice of the little cub.
Dubi’s entire body shook with joy that filled every fiber of his being.
When She Ze had told him his partner and little cub were still alive, his heart was filled with joy but also doubt.
Now, seeing them alive and in front of his own eyes, watching the little one being so lively, he was finally overwhelmed with a sense of reality.
"Chang Zao..." the orc’s voice was hoarse, soft, yet it distinctly reached into the ears of the female inside the yard.
Chang Zao’s hand trembled, and the porcelain bowl holding the steamed egg nearly shattered on the ground.
She, somewhat shakily, placed the steamed egg on a nearby stone table and, staggering, ran towards the familiar figure at the doorway.
"Dubi!"
The little cub looked somewhat dazedly at his favorite food being placed high upon a stone table, pursing his lips in a show of slight grievance.
Waddling on his short legs, he turned around and upon seeing the tall figure standing at the entrance to the yard, his round, shiny eyes lit up: "Ah ow~"
Though the little guy couldn’t speak, he recognized his father, who always brought him delicious eggs.
Dubi tightly embraced Chang Zao rushing towards him, the female in his arms shaking from head to toe, crying non-stop.
"I’m back, Chang Zao, we’re together again."
