Chapter 662 - 661, Medical Trouble? _1
The old shaman and Chief Nakula watched as the orc ran from the tent, their faces immediately turning serious. They hurriedly followed, but the sight before them almost made them vomit.
The orc that had just exited the tent was still retching, spitting out cluster after cluster of white worms that intertwined and writhed together.
The other orcs in the vicinity were drawn by the commotion. On seeing what the orc was vomiting, those with feeble constitutions turned green and covered their mouths, fleeing the scene.
"It’s the worm disease, it’s broken out, she has the worm disease!"
An orc from the Nacha Tribe had fallen ill with the worm disease.
This news spread quickly, as if on wings, throughout the entire encampment. Mu Qing, Mu Chun, and the members of the Divine Wood Tree race, the Gru Tribe, and other tribes of orcs who hadn’t left yet, all hurried to the Nacha Tribe’s territory.
This was because they had heard that this outbreak of the worm disease was triggered by the medicinal powder for treating worm disease, given to the orc by Shaman Ji Nuan.
Those tree people and orcs who knew about Ji Nuan’s abilities, like Mu Qing, believed that the Nacha Tribe didn’t know what weird powder they had fed their own people, and now that this worm disease had broken out, they wanted to pin the blame on Shaman Ji Nuan.
"Shaman! Shaman!" Ji Nuan, who was presently gathering herbs, heard the cries of the tribal orcs. Standing and looking back, she indeed saw a guard, dressed in the team uniform, running her way from the edge of the forest.
Seeing Ji Nuan, the orc caught his breath and quickly said, "The medicinal powder you traded to the Nacha Tribe today. One of their people ate it and subsequently contracted the worm disease. Now, orcs from every tribe and persons of the Divine Wood Tree race are all gathered at the Nacha Tribe. Elder Mu Qing and the others don’t believe the problem lies with your medicinal powder, so they sent me to fetch you to take a look."
Ji Nuan furrowed her brows, "What’s the condition of that orc?"
The orc scratched his head and said, "He just keeps retching and says his stomach hurts."
An expression of speechlessness flitted across Ji Nuan’s eyes as she turned her head back, "Brother Xiu Yan, Ya Li, bring a few orcs with me to check it out."
After handing the basket she had in hand to an orc beside her, Xiu Yan, and Ya Li walked over. Just as they were about to call some orcs who were gathering herbs, the orc who had just brought the news quickly said, "Captain Ying Yan has already arranged for a small group of orcs to wait for you outside the forest. We can go with you."
Ji Nuan nodded. This was good; it wouldn’t disrupt the herb collecting.
When Ji Nuan and her group arrived at the Nacha tribe encampment, the orc who had fallen ill was collapsed on the ground, panting heavily. The ground around him was littered with dead worms. It was a scene of pure horror.
On seeing Ji Nuan, Chief Nakula’s face darkened: "Shaman Ji Nuan, why did our tribesman suddenly fall ill with the worm disease after taking the medicinal powder for it?"
Ji Nuan glanced at him, without saying a word. She pointed at the orc lying on the ground, drained of strength: "Have him brought here."
At her words, the guards standing behind quickly moved forward. Under the terrified glances of the other orcs, they maneuvered through the worms covering the ground, reached the orc, and dragged him to a slightly cleaner spot.
Walking over, Ji Nuan carefully examined the orc, showing no disgust for his filth-stained condition. Afterwards, she stood and wiped her hands clean with a damp beast skin that Xiu Yan passed to her.
She turned to Chief Nakula: "I wonder if Chief Nakula has ever seen what an orc looks like when the worm disease breaks out?"
