Chapter 654 - 653, Ambition_1
Bowman kneeled on the beast skin cushion, a sincere expression on his orcish face. "I understand your fury over losing your mate, and so if there’s anything the Gru Tribe could offer you and the Watson Tribe in compensation, please feel free to mention it."
Ji Nuan looked at him: "Anything?"
After Bowman pressed his lips together, he looked at Ji Nuan: "As long as it will not harm the Gru Tribe, I can agree to it."
Ya Li raised an eyebrow: "Would you give us the Beast God Fruit you’ve obtained from this exchange?"
Bowman grimaced as his hands hanging by his sides clenched together. Eventually, he nodded with some difficulty: "Yes."
Ya Li glanced at the two other orcs near Ji Nuan, looking somewhat incredulous.
A spark of cunning flashed in Ji Nuan’s eyes, but she kept her face emotionless: "The Watson Tribe does not need your Beast God Fruit. But at present, I haven’t thought of any requests. We can talk about it later."
Bowman was somewhat dumbfounded. In truth, he had come prepared to give the Beast God Fruit to the Watson Tribe in exchange for peace, but he hadn’t expected them to refuse such a valuable offer. What on earth did they want?
(Are they walking an uncommon path like those in the advertisements?)
Looking at Bowman’s evident bewilderment, Ji Nuan spoke: "Tribal Chief Bowman, you should return now. The cold season is coming soon, and we need to head back to our tribe to prepare. We have not yet had the time to contemplate this matter. Moreover, accepting your proposal isn’t solely my decision. If we have the chance to meet next year, we will discuss it then."
Bowman could only force a somewhat stiff smile, which betrayed a faint sense of relief. After bidding farewell to Ji Nuan and the other orcs, he departed the tent.
After he had left the Watson Tribe’s encampment, one of the orcs accompanying him glanced at Bowman: "What did the Shaman say?"
Bowman shook his head: "The Shaman did not agree to my proposal. She merely said that they would discuss it with the clan leader back at the tribe. Any requests would be brought up if we have the chance to meet again next year."
The orc by his side, however, was visibly relieved. He drew a deep breath and broke into a delighted smile: "That was clearly implied in the Shaman’s words. She doesn’t have any intention to retaliate against the Gru Tribe this year. We can now focus on preparing for the cold season."
Only then did Bowman catch on and grin: "Hehe, indeed. Let’s go hunting later and then return to the tribe as soon as possible. We have lost so many orcs this year that we are already short-handed for hunting."
The two orcs walked back to their encampment, oblivious to the presence of a third orc hidden nearby in a large tree. He had overheard every word they had said.
With a hint of a cold smile in his eyes, the watching orc jumped down from the tree and darted off towards the Nacha Tribe’s territory.
"Is everything you said true?" Namila’s voice echoed from inside the tent, containing an element of schadenfreude.
The orc who had just descended from the tree, Namila’s gentle mate, nodded: "Of course, I heard everything loud and clear. Not a single orc who Bertel led to attack Watson Tribe came back. The Gru Tribe is now not even a shadow of its former self."
The ambitious glint sparkled in Namila’s eyes - if they were to strike the Gru Tribe while it was weakened...
