Chapter 535 - 534, Fruit_1
The morning sun cast a golden glow over the forest, piercing through the tree canopy and casting opulence on the woodland floor, forming beautiful points of light. It was utterly mesmerizing.
Standing at the entrance of Chief Meng Zhuo’s tent was an orc, bidding him farewell.
"Chief Meng Zhuo, I think I should go back and check on my tribe. Our tribe is so small and it’s been quite a while since I left. I don’t even know if my tribesfolk have enough food to eat," the orc said, his face filled with distress.
Meng Zhuo sighed, aware of the predicament of the other tribes in Lamu Forest, and nodded. "Alright, you should go back and check. Make sure to come back in a few days to collect the injured."
The orc nodded. "Don’t I know it? My daughter’s still here taking care of them. Could you help look after her? She’s a bit too timid."
Meng Zhuo pounded his chest. "Rest assured, I’ve got it. Go quickly and come back quickly."
The orc thanked him and set off from the Monte Tribe.
Meng Zhuo sighed once more, then walked into his tent.
Not far away, under a tree, a robust female was watching, a strange smile on her face.
Ji Nuan woke up at midday and, after having lunch, continued to assist Shaman Meng Luo in treating the remaining orcs. Initially, many orcs were reluctant to accept her treatment because of her young age, which made it hard for them to trust her.
However, after witnessing Ji Nuan’s skills, most orcs preferred to be treated by her. Those treated by Meng Luo were even staring wistfully at Ji Nuan from a distance. The unappreciated Meng Luo responded to these orcs with sternness and severity.
In the end, those orcs had to comply and be treated by the not-so-gentle Shaman Meng Luo.
In another part of the forest, the orc who had left in the morning was treading carefully. Any orc familiar with the Lamu Forest would recognize that he was headed in the direction of the Serra Tribe.
At supper time, Ji Nuan was sitting by a bonfire with Meng Zhuo, Meng Tai, and Shaman Meng Luo, eating roasted meat and discussing the condition of the injured orcs and their future treatment.
"Are you Shaman Ji Nuan? Thank you for saving our tribesfolk today." Suddenly, a melodious voice spoke up, attracting the attention of those sitting around the bonfire, who turned to look at the speaker.
A robust female was standing by the bonfire holding a large leaf filled with fruits. She looked at Ji Nuan with gratitude in her eyes.
Ji Nuan smiled awkwardly, "It’s nothing. Please, there’s no need to thank me."
The female walked over and sat next to Meng Tai, placing the leaf full of fruits in front of Ji Nuan. "I picked these fruits today with the other females. This is for you."
Ji Nuan was taken aback, "I have fruits. You should give these to the injured orcs."
To Ji Nuan’s surprise, the remark seemed to upset the female, who held back tears. "So, are you refusing our tokens because you look down upon us smaller tribes?"
Ji Nuan was speechless.
What had she said to warrant such a reaction? Looking at the aggrieved expression on the female’s face, Ji Nuan had a sudden realization. Could this be the Beast World Continent’s version of a pretentious, manipulative two-timer?
