Leisurely Farm Life in Beast World

Chapter 520 - 519, Earthquake_1

The three talking beastmen jumped up instantly from the cool straw mats spread out on the bed.

"What’s going on?"

"The sound seems to come from afar, almost like it’s from the forest."

Meng Tai began to put on his beast skin clothing as he sat by the bed: "Let’s go out and see."

The other two beastmen also hurriedly dressed up.

Meanwhile, Ji Nuan and Xiu Yan were awakened by this earth-shattering noise, quickly put on their beast skin clothing and ran outside.

Ya Li was already waiting at the door: "The sound came from the direction of the forest."

Ji Nuan looked up at the pitch-black sky, the earthquake seemed to have begun. She glanced at the three beastmen rushing out from the guest quarters and quickly waved them over: "Judging from the commotion, the earthquake has likely started. Our tribesmen have been notified already and should all be at the square. Can you please help me carry the sorted medicinal herbs?"

The beastmen nodded in response and went to the storeroom to carry out the large baskets of herbs that Ji Nuan had prepared in advance.

"Let’s go!"

When they arrived at the open space, Chief Ge Xing and Ge Tai were already organizing the tribespeople to build tents. The square was not chaotic at all, and everything was being carried out in an orderly manner.

Xiu Yan unloaded the large basket from his back, took out a few simple tents and handed them to Ya Li and the three other beastmen. They started to set up the tents and within a short while, all were erected.

The herbs were placed on a slightly elevated ground and guarded by several beastmen. The youngsters were looked after by several older maidens, who were playing and biting at each other, oblivious to the impending disaster.

"Ya Li, you stay with the tribe, Xiu Yan and I will go and see what’s happening," Ji Nuan cast a very subtle glance at Ya Li, who nodded: "Don’t worry, I understand."

As the former inheritor of the Shaman of the Tumang Tribe, Ya Li was quite intelligent and resourceful; he instantly understood Ji Nuan’s intentions with just a glance.

When Ji Nuan and Xiu Yan found Uncle Ge Xing, he was drenched in sweat, helping a handicapped beastman build a tent. Ji Nuan stepped forward and said, "Uncle Ge Xing, Xiu Yan and I are going to check out the situation with the earthquake, to better prepare in advance."

Ge Xing looked at the young faces, and eventually sighed worrisomely: "Be careful. If anything seems off, return immediately. Don’t put yourselves in danger while trying to help other beasts."

Ji Nuan and Xiu Yan smiled and nodded: "Don’t worry. We’re just going to check out the forest. We will fly there directly, so nothing will happen."

After saying goodbye to the Clan Leader, Ji Nuan went to the tent set up for the medicinal herbs and took a small basket of herbs before nestling into Xiu Yan’s arms.

Xiu Yan’s wings, after undergoing the evolution, were now a faint silvery colour and appeared considerably sharp up close much like those of steel. Ji Nuan imagined that getting cut by those wings would probably be no less painful than getting cut by a blade.

As the wings fluttered, their figures gradually disappeared into the vast night.

The plains were eerily silent, with no signs of an earthquake or the sounds of animals. This stark contrast to the distant forest made Ji Nuan very curious. Was it possible that this earthquake had nothing to do with the plains at all?

Just as she finished thinking, thunderous rumbling sounds of running footsteps and various animal roars came from ahead. Ji Nuan couldn’t see anything and could only raise her head to look at the angular handsome face above: "Brother Xiu Yan, are there beasts below us?"
