Chapter 513 - 512, Living Prey_1
"So, is this erratic behavior from the game indicative of the imminent disaster?" Shi Jie anxiously asked.
Being uncertain, the big bear does not reply. Ji Nuan just shakes her head with a bitter smile, "I don’t know either. That’s why I came straight to the Gray Bear Tribe as soon as I got back. I wanted to discuss this with you two Clan Leaders to see if we can figure out a good solution."
Shi Jie shakes his head, "The older members of our tribe have never mentioned anything like this, so I have no idea how to handle this disaster."
Looking at Big Bear whose complexion looked rather poor, he shook his head as well, "The old shaman used to tell us that a lot of orc had perished from these disasters. Only a small amount of us survived after the tremors stopped."
Ji Nuan sighs. It seems like it all comes down to luck now.
She looks at the two worried Clan Leaders, "For the time being, start felling trees to encircle an area. Then capture some live game and keep them inside. Don’t eat them, have the orc feed them daily."
Both Big Bear and Shi Jie were perplexed, "Although the animals are on edge, they are still living in the forest, not migrating. We don’t need to start keeping them prematurely. If we do, the animals will become skinny."
Ji Nuan smiles and explains, "We are not raising these animals to eat them. Animals are very sensitive to impending disasters. You need to observe their reactions daily. If they start trying to escape hysterically, that means the disaster is near. Remember, always follow the animals when they start running. Do not panic and scatter."
The truth is, in the city where Ji Nuan comes from, they have never experienced a disaster like this, so she was not really familiar with it. Yet surprisingly, she encountered such a disaster in the Beast World.
She quietly shed a tear for herself inside her heart.
The Clan Leaders did not cover up the news of the impending earthquake in the Eneru Mountain range. They informed the tribe members and asked everyone to be prepared for the upcoming disaster.
Ji Nuan also kindly offered some guidance on making tents, warning about the stone houses and the houses made from large tree branches that the orcs were proud of, "Once the quake hits, these houses will collapse. The adults might be fine because of their tough skin, but the females and cubs will be caught underneath and won’t be able to escape."
The orc looked at their meticulously built "mansions" which were about to be dismantled, and was reluctant, "Couldn’t we just run out ahead of time?"
Ji Nuan laughed at the suggestion, "The quake could happen at any moment. It could be during the day when you’re out hunting, or during the night when you’re asleep. Are you sure you can escape in time?"
The orc was speechless at Ji Nuan’s question and only giggled with his red face. His mate gave him a pinch in the waist and expressed her gratitude towards Ji Nuan, "Thank you, Shaman Ji Nuan. We will start dismantling this dangerous house now and move into simple tents."
Nodding, Ji Nuan replied, "Um, the weather has been rather decent lately. Don’t use heavy logs. The construction should be light. After the disaster, you can create whatever kind of houses you want."
One by one, every orc family owning a "mansion" stepped back, ready to demolish their stone houses and move out.
