Leisurely Farm Life in Beast World

Chapter 487 - 486, At Hand_1

He waved his hand tiredly, "Go and fetch the elders. They should know about this matter too. Let us all think of a solution together."

Meng Tai cursed Bertel twice before rising and leaving the tent.

Meanwhile, Ji Nuan, Xiu Yan, and Yao returned to the stall where they’d first seen the Spider Silk. The Orc was sitting idly on his Beast Skin cushion, dozing off.

Ji Nuan chuckled and coughed. The Orc jolted awake and jumped to his feet upon seeing her. "You’re back, are we continuing the Spider Silk exchange?" he asked excitedly.

Ji Nuan nodded, "Yes. I wanted to ask what happens if this Spider Silk accidentally comes into contact with water?"

The Orc quickly shook his head, "Rest assured, this Spider Silk won’t break upon contact with water. Although it can’t bear much weight, it’s quite durable for tying things. If it falls into water, it just turns into thin threads."

With that, he crouched down, picked up a Spider Silk Cocoon, poured some water on a large leaf, and put the cocoon in the water.

The cocoon dispersed upon contact with water, becoming a long, thin thread. The Orc held up the leaf to Ji Nuan, "You can try pulling it."

Seeing the pained expression on the Orc’s face, Ji Nuan chuckled. She reached in and picked up the brightly glowing Spider Silk. To her surprise, it was more resilient than she thought - she couldn’t break it with her strength.

Xiu Yan stepped forward to pull on the Spider Silk. Ji Nuan quickly pointed to a spot, "Pull here. Even if it breaks, it can still be used."

Xiu Yan nodded, gave it a tug, and the Spider Silk snapped on cue.

The Orc winced in pain, greatly amusing Ji Nuan.

She pointed to the cocoon on the Beast Skin, "Is this all you have?"

The Orc nodded, "Yes, because our previous exchanges didn’t go well, the Clan Leader made us bring less."

Ji Nuan smiled, "Count all the cocoons for me. I’ll take them all."

"All... all of them?" the Orc stuttered, unbelieving his own good luck.

In the end, the Orc dashed back to the tribe holding 23 leaves from the Divine Wood Tree, amidst envious looks from the other Orcs at the surrounding stalls. He could now look forward to the praise of the Clan Leader and the envy of his tribespeople. He was also sure to get to keep half the leaves himself.

...

"Clan Leader. How do you know whether Shaman Ji Nuan is telling the truth or not?" A mocking voice asked from within Meng Zhuo’s tent.

A few other Orcs at his side nodded, "Indeed, who knows what she’s up to?"

Meng Zhuo scoffed, "I know what you are thinking. The two Beast God Fruits were given entirely to Shaman Ji Nuan on my authority. If you have any complaints, direct them at me. Have I been too lenient these past few years, that you dare to mock me so openly?"

His imposing aura directly confronted the Orcs below.

Meng Tai chuckled from the sidelines, "Father, these uncles haven’t made any significant contributions to the tribe. If I were you, I wouldn’t even give them a single Beast God Fruit. None of their offspring are worth mentioning."

Meng Zhuo glanced at the Orcs below–their faces still disgruntled. He laughed coldly, "It seems Meng Tai is right. I’ve been too easy on you. That’s why you’ve all become so selfish, only considering yourselves in times of trouble."
