Chapter 436 - 435, The Thing Called Tent_1
Chief Ge Xing shrugged and walked back to his fellow tribesmen, helping them set up their tents.
Being the only female and the tribe’s Shaman, Ji Nuan was comfortably seated on a beast skin mat, sorting out her herbs.
"Ge Xing, are you guys ready yet?" Chief Xiong Da walked over from the side, standing not far away and shouting Chief Ge Xing’s name.
Ji Nuan lifted her head to glance at her tribe’s camp and then spoke up: "Chief Xiong Da, we haven’t finished setting up our tents yet."
Xiong Da was puzzled: "Isn’t it just setting up a tent...uh..."
His words were cut off by the sight of the sophisticated tents in front of him. Raising a trembling finger, he exclaimed in surprise: "This is a tent?"
Ji Nuan turned to look back and nodded, "Yes, is there a problem?"
The Watson Tribe tents were pre-made by the tribesmen, as directed by Ji Nuan. Now they just needed to prop the tents up with sturdy pieces of wood and secure them to the ground. The result looked like beautiful little houses.
Chief Xiong Da’s eyes sparkled as he ran into the camp. He circled around the Watson Tribe’s campsite and then crawled inside one of the ready-made tents, all the while making noises of admiration and envy.
Upon leaving the tent, Chief Xiong Da headed straight toward Chief Ge Xing: "You ol’ cunning fox! You really let me down.", he scolded, slapping Chief Ge Xing on the back all of a sudden.
Chief Ge Xing nearly faceplanted onto the ground from the unexpected slap. He turned around, fuming: "What the hell, man? You trying to start a fight?"
Chief Xiong Da, fixated on the beautiful and warm tents, ignored Ge Xing’s rage and complained loudly: "You have such beautiful and warm tents, but you didn’t teach us how to make them!"
Ge Xing twitches at the corner of his mouth: "You want everything, don’t you? The tents are made by the most skillful people in our tribe. We only have so many, and we brought all of them. What am I supposed to teach you? I only found out about these gems when we were about to leave!"
Within 10 seconds, the look in Xiong Da’s eyes switched from anger to sympathy. He patted Ge Xing’s shoulder: "I heard rumors that you became the Clan Leader by drawing straws, but now I think it’s true. Come on, let’s go eat some roasted meat, my treat."
Ge Xing’s face darkened instantly: "Who’s the asshole spreading that I became Clan Leader by drawing straws? I was chosen because of my strength."
Xiong Da nodded: "Right, some asshole must have spread the news. Your appointment as the Clan Leader is definitely...ehm...the result of your strength."
Ge Xing nodded: "That’s right, I mean, when I was young..."
As the two old men faded into the distance, Ji Nuan finally sighed in relief. Why was that old codger becoming more boastful with age?
"But who said that Chief Ge Xing drew straws for his title?"
"I said it..." A rather guilty sounding male voice echoed in her ears, Ji Nuan got startled and looked up. It was Ying Da.
She asked, puzzled: "How did you know about this?"
Ying Da placed the fresh game he was holding to the side: "When you were staying at our camp, I overheard some of your tribesmen talking about it."
After saying these words, he seemed to be quite embarrassed and started scratching his head.
