Chapter 374 - 373, What Beast?_1
"There seem to be signs of orc activity here." The orc pointed to several trees in front of them marked with claw prints.
Meng Tai walked up to examine the marks closely: "These are certainly signs of orc activity. We might have come into an area commonly hunted by a tribe. Everyone should be careful."
Instantly, the orcs heightened their alertness, proceeding cautiously.
"Swish, swish, swish!" The multitude of footsteps echoed all around, tightening the nerves of Meng Tai and the others as they scrutinized their surroundings.
The surrounding jungle quivered, as if something might rush out from within at any moment.
"Where did you orcs come from?" A deep voice echoed from the front. Meng Tai turned to look and saw a rather thin, white-haired orc standing on a tree trunk, looking down at them.
The orcs from the Monte tribe instantly gripped their stone weapons, prepared to charge forward, but Meng Tai stopped them: "Don’t move rashly."
The white-haired orc sneered: "You’re very wise. If they had indeed charged forward just now, they would probably already be serving the Beast God."
Meng Tai furrowed his brow, sensing a strong repulsion from the orc.
Impatience was evident in Luo Ke’s eyes. Ever since the big migration of beasts, orcs had been intruding and hunting in the Dashi tribe’s territory. This constant disruption was giving their hunting squads many headaches.
Just a few days ago, they had managed to chase away some orcs from smaller tribes. To their chagrin, their hunting teams had bumped into more intruding orcs today.
Meng Tai handed his stone weapon to an orc behind him, then stepped forward, addressing Luo Ke: "We are from the Monte tribe in Lamu Forest. We did not intentionally intrude into your territory."
The mention of the Monte tribe caught Luo Ke off guard, raising his eyebrows at the sight of the towering orc upfront. "You are from the Monte Tribe?"
Meng Tai nodded: "We are here to find the Dashi tribe. We hope that you could tell us where their settlement is, and we will immediately withdraw from your tribal territory."
Luo Ke clapped. The sharp sound echoed in the forest, and immediately sturdy figures leaped out from the surrounding bushes. They held their stone weapons tight, staring defensively at Meng Tai’s squad, now surrounded by them.
Meng Tai’s face turned slightly sour as he shot Luo Ke a cold glare, "What are you up to?"
Luo Ke jumped down from the tree, waving his hand: "Put down your weapons, we are all orcs here, let’s not create such a tense atmosphere."
Meng Tai: "..." You’re the last person qualified to say that.
The Monte Tribe’s orcs: "..." Isn’t this tense atmosphere your fault?
After a moment of looking at each other, the orcs from the Dashi Tribe finally heed their leader’s words and lower their weapons.
Luo Ke walked straight up to Meng Tai, a rare smile appeared on his usually tense face: "I am Luo Ke, the leader of the Dashi Tribe’s Hunting Team."
Meng Tai’s eyes lit up: "You’re the orcs from the Dashi Tribe?"
Luo Ke, surprised by the question, laughed: "Haha, who else could we be?"
Without hesitation, he raised his beast skin, revealing a unique emblem beneath it. "See this."
Meng Tai responded in kind. He revealed a different emblem on his chest.
Loke’s smile became even more genuine, "We’ve had a lot of poaching by orcs in our tribal territory recently, which is why we’re a bit tense."
